1 | Gen 4:17 | Gen 5:4 | Jagfire | 176663
Cain's wife was his sister or niece or great-niece, etc: Adam and Eve had surely had more children than just Cain and Abel at the time Abel was killed - they definitely had many more children later, see Genesis 5:4. The fact that Cain was scared for his own life after he killed Abel tells that there were likely many other children and perhaps even grandchildren or great-grandchildren of Adam and Eve at that time. Cain's wife was a daughter or granddaughter of Adam and Eve. Since Adam and Eve were the first human beings, their children would have no other choice than to intermarry. God did not forbid inter-family marriage until much later when there was enough people that intermarriage was not necessary.
2 | U.S.A. the Babylon of Revelations 18? | Bible general Archive 3 | Jagfire | 175694
In place of the Old Testament law, we are under the law of Christ which is to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” -Matthew 22:37-40. If we do these two things, we will be fulfilling all that Christ wants for us to do. We are not under any of the requirements of the Old Testament law. We are to love God and love our neighbors. If we do those two things faithfully, everything else will fall into place.
3 | Can Satan read your mind? | Daniel | Jagfire | 175313
The Bible gives us no reason to believe Satan and his demons can read our minds. To me, that would take a measure of omnipresence and omniscience, which they do not have. However, Satan and his demons have been observing and tempting human beings for thousands of years. Surely they have learned a few things about us over the years. Even without the ability to know our thoughts, they can probably make a well-educated guess as to what we are thinking – and then attempt to use it to their advantage.
4 | what's the duty of an deacon | Bible general Archive 3 | Jagfire | 175221
The title “deacon” comes from the Greek word for “servant” or “slave”.... This points to their role as servants (as pictured in Acts 6:1-7). The responsibilities of a deacon will vary depending on the form of church government.. All that the Bible specifically states concerning their responsibilities is that they are to be servant-leaders.

6 | Jesus said "Have Faith in ME" | 1 John 5:14 | Jagfire | 174346
Praying in Jesus’ name means asking God the Father to answer our prayers because we come in the name of His Son, Jesus. It means the same thing as praying according to the will of God. "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him" 1st John 5:14-15 You must pray for things that will honor and glorify Jesus. If what you asked for was not for God’s glory/according to His will, do not expect it to be "granted." Also, you say you got no answer for the week. Remember that God answers every prayer that is lifted to Him. Just because what you asked for has no happened in a week does not mean the prayer went unanswered. Sometimes God answers "no" or "wait". Be patient: "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not yourself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth” -Psalm 37:7-9 |

7 | A Question related to free will | 1 Tim 2:4 | Jagfire | 174172
God doesn't "allow" anyone to go to hell - Man chooses to go their on his own. If you believe Jesus is Christ, the Son of God, Savior, then you are going to be saved. There is no excuse for rejecting Him. As far as God knowing everything, of course this is true, however it works in correlation with our free will. THere has never been a time in the Bible where someone cries out to God, believes, asks for forgiveness etc, and God rejects them. Yes, God "predestines" who will be saved, but we must choose Christ in order to be saved. Both facts are equally true - the "predestined" selection is based on our free will and our choices that will be made. Romans 11:33" Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!"
8 | Was it possible for Jesus to have sinned | Phil 2:7 | Jagfire | 173755
Jesus is fully human, but He was not born with the same sinful nature that we are born with. He was tempted in the same way we are (temptations were put before Him by Satan) yet remained sinless because God cannot sin. It's against His very nature (Matthew 4:1/Hebrews 2:18,4:15/James 1:13). Sin is by definition breaking the Law. God created the Law. The Law is what God would or would not do - so.. sin is anything that God would not do by His very nature. If Jesus could have sinned, He'd still be able to sin today because He retains the same essence He did while living here on earth. To say Jesus could sin is to say God could sin. Colossians 1:19.. "For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell." |

9 | PLS I need it now | Matt 7:2 | Jagfire | 173746
Matthew 7:2-5 "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Not sure which translation had it has stems and branches.. |

10 | You might be a carnal christian if--- | 1 John 2:15 | Jagfire | 173659
Well, some of the "characteristics" I'd look for is an inactive prayer life, no time spent in the Word, involvement in sinful ways of the world and no worship in their life. How do we avoid these pitfalls you say? By using prayer, the Holy Spirit, the church, and of course the Word of God. 2nd Timothy 3:16 explains the Bible equips us for every good work. Prayer is powerful as well as God promises us thigns through prayer in several verses - Matthew 7:7-11, John 6:23-27, 1st John 5:14-15. As far as the Church, God says to confess our faults to one another/James 5:16. "A threefold cord is not easily broken." - Proverbs 27:17 reminds us here that we can find strength in numbers. Good luck/God bless! |

11 | Adam , Eve redemed, forgiven or lost? | Gen 3:15 | Jagfire | 173469
The Bible doesn't specifically say but Adam and Eve were the only 2 people to know about God before sin entered the world.. They probably still knew God better after their fall than any of us do today. They definitely believed in and depended on God. God provided for them after their fall. In Gen 3:15 we see that they both knew of God's promise to provide a savior.
12 | Is it forbidden by gods law to marry out | Deut 7:3 | Jagfire | 173404
The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites not to engage in interracial marriage in Deuteronomy 7:3-4. But the reason for this is that the Israelites would be led astray from God if they intermarried with idol worshippers, pagans, or heathens.
13 | Why did God hate Esau? | Gen 27:29 | Jagfire | 173400
The Apostle Paul is using the name “Esau” to refer to the Edomites, who were the descendants of Esau. Isaac and Rebekah had two sons, Esau and Jacob. God chose Jacob (later renamed Israel) to be the father of His chosen people, the Israelites. God rejected Esau (who was also called Edom), and did not choose him to be the father of His chosen people. Esau’s and his descendants, the Edomites, were in many ways blessed by God (Genesis 33:9; Genesis chapter 36). So taking this into account God loving Jacob and hating Esau has nothing to do with the human emotions of love and hate.. It has everything to do with God choosing one man and his descendants and rejecting another man and his descendants. God choose Abraham out of all the men in the world. The Bible very well could say, “Abraham I loved, and every other man I hated.” God choose Abraham’s son Isaac instead of Abraham’s son Ishmael. The Bible very well could say, “Isaac I loved, and Ishmael I hated.” Romans chapter 9 makes it clear that loving Jacob and hating Esau was related to which of them God chose. Hundreds of years after Jacob and Esau had died, the Israelites and Edomites became enemies. The Edomites aided Israel’s enemies in attacks on Israel. Esau’s descendants brought God’s curse on themselves. |

15 | Hear God | John 10:27 | Jagfire | 173322
Spend quality time daily in prayer and Bible study. The more time you spend intimately with God and His Word the easier it will be to recognize His voice and direction in your life. "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me" -John 10:27 |

16 | that is my question I beleive is a impor | Matt 19:8 | Jagfire | 173313
I am a little confused as to what you are asking. However, I will make some points. Malachi clearly says God hates divorce. God knows though that since a marriage involves two sinful humans, divorce is going to occur. In the Old Testament, there are some laws in order to protect the rights of divorcees (in Deut). These laws were given because of the hardness of people’s hearts, not because they were God’s desire (Matthew 19:8) The divorce rate among so-called Christians is almost as high as the rest of the world - That is sad. God makes it clear that reconciliation and forgiveness should be present in a believer's life [and marriage]. Luke 11:4/Ephesians 4:32 You should not feel any less loved by God. God often uses even the sinful disobedience of Christians to accomplish great good. |

17 | Information on suicide? | Amos 9:2 | Jagfire | 173310
If an unsaved person commits suicide, they haven't done anything but “expedite” their trip to the lake of fire. But the person who committed suicide will ultimately be in hell for rejecting salvation through Christ, not because they committed suicide. 4 people committed suicide in the Bible: Saul (1 Samuel 31:4) Ahithophel (2 Samuel 17:23) Zimri (1 Kings 16:18) Judas (Matthew 27:5) Each of them were wicked men. God is the One who is to decide when and how a person should die, so to take that power into your own hands is blasphemy to God. Us Christians can know that we possess eternal life no matter what happens “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13). Whether a person commits suicide is not what determines whether he or she gains entrance into heaven.. but that is not to say suicide isn't a serious sin against God. |

18 | Strength when we are weak? | Rom 8:28 | Jagfire | 173299
I think the key is remembering that God's ways are higher than our ways according to Isaiah 55:9. When we are suffering with a sickness/disease/etc we usually focus on our suffering and not on what good God might bring. Romans 8:28 says that God can bring about good from any situation. Many people look back on times of sickness as times when they grew closer to God and learned to trust Him more.. or even when they leanred to truly value life. This doesn't mean sickness is always from God in a world tainted by sin. Sicknesses, diseases, and death will always be with us. We are fallen beings, with physical bodies prone to disease and illness. Some sickness is simply a result of the natural course of things in this world. God is still in control. God sometimes allows sin and/or Satan to cause physical suffering. Even when sickness is not directly from God, He will still use it according to His perfect will. When people are suffering, it is our responsibility to minister to them, care for them, pray for them, and comfort them. When a person is suffering, it's not always smart to emphasize that God will bring good out of the suffering. Yes, that's true. However, it's not always the best time to share that truth. Suffering people need our love and encouragement, not necessarily Biblical theology. |

19 | christians being persecuted | Matt 5:10 | Jagfire | 173274
our salvation, I am sorry to hear this... Jesus said that persecution for His sake was inevitable. He encourages us to take heart in the persecution - He even calls the persecuted one “blessed” and tells us to “rejoice and be exceedingly glad for your reward in heaven is great” - Matthew 5:10-12. The Old Testament prophets were persecuted, reviled, tortured, killed and in one case sawn in half (Hebrews 11:37). All the Apostles (except John) were killed for preaching Christ. Tradition says that Peter insisted on being crucified upside down because he said he was unworthy to die in the same manner as his Lord. Yet he wrote in his first letter “If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of God and of glory rests on you” - (1 Peter 4:14) The Apostle Paul was jailed, beaten and stoned numerous times for preaching Christ, but he considered his sufferings not even worth mentioning compared to the glory he knew awaited him (see Romans 8). The cost seems high, I know. But there are earthly rewards as well as heavenly ones: Jesus has promised to be with us always, even to the end of the age(Matthew 28:20) He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) He knows our pain and suffering (1 Peter 2:21) His love for us knows no end, and He will never test us beyond our ability to withstand it and will always provide a way out from under it (1 Corinthians 10:13) |

20 | weeping | Rev 21:1 | Jagfire | 173272
There is nothing wrong with weeping - Jesus wept at the death of Lazarus, His friend (see John 11). He then went on to raise Lazarus from the dead, so we cannot say that He did not glorify God through that.
