1 | why did judas betray jesus | Luke 22:3 | JTF | 242850
Side Note: There is also meaning behind the 30 shekels of silver that Judas was given to betray Jesus. 30 silver shekels was the price of a slave in that time. Showing the contempt the chief priests had for him, and highlighting how little they valued him. Another point for reflection...Judas was one of the 12 people (apostles) most close to Jesus, basking in his wisdom, kindness, and love. He was once highly favored by Jesus. This helps us to realize that we are not "once saved, always saved". Rather it takes hard work and continuous effort to remain in God's favor. |

2 | SEEKING FOR THE TRUTH | Acts 4:1 | JTF | 242849
Hi Seeking for the Truth, Regarding the gifts in men referred to at Eph 4:8, the cross reference 1 Cor 12:28 describes these gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:28 28 And God has assigned the respective ones in the congregation: first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then powerful works; then gifts of healings; helpful services; abilities to direct; different tongues. You see teachers, powerful works, healings, etc... and different tongues. These gifts were to assist others to gain an accurate knowledge of God and what his original purpose was for mankind. We see the "gifts of healings" as a fore gleam of what will come in the future, and that God has the power to make the changes. Gifts of healing cross reference is Acts 5:16. Then the "different tongues" refers to God giving men the ability to speak another language, in which people understanding that language were part of a crowd of people. This is for the purpose of teaching them about God. Different tongues cross reference is Acts 2:6,7 All the gifts from God show how much he loves us and are indicative of how merciful he is toward sinful mankind. Please be sure to look up the cross references for each of the gifts, so you can see each one of them in action. |
