1 | How many did Noah bring on the ark ? | Gen 7:2 | JRMGHM | 181224
Hmm. Actually I agree with the sacrifice answer. I was just throwing in that fact that in Hebrew the number 7 can and does often mean perfection as something to think about. Most Hebrew scholars would say that does not mean that all other numbers mean imperfection.. I actually think the number 6 means imperfection. (I think number 12, not 7, means completeness and 11 means incompleteness. The opposites are typically one number off each other.) Sorry- I was not trying to say let's not take the Bible literally!! I like to look at things from different angles. |

2 | Should I separate from a sinning brother | Rom 3:23 | JRMGHM | 181211
I think in order to answer this you have to know whether the brother you are referring to is a Christian or not. While all should be dealt with in true love, there are some differences as to how to handle this. Obviously if he's not a Christian then like the other post said he knows no better, and no I would not separate him from your Bible study, but encourage him more and more to come actually. If he is a Christian, I would approach him about this sin that you see- (in humbleness of course, hoping that he would do the same for you if he saw something contrary to Christ in your life). In Matthew 18 and the very end of 1 Corinthians 5 we are told to approach our Christian brothers and sisters when we see sin.. sometimes it may take a very very humble person to point out sin to you b/c we are so easily blinded to our own sin (and to what IS sin and ISNT sin). In Matthew it does discuss separation (I'm not sure to what degree, etc) but only after he (a believer) has been approached first by one person, then by 2-3, then by the church. The purpose of ALL of this is repentance!! So this is not to be done in malice and it is to be done w/ a lot of prayer and gentleness, hoping to enlighten the person and encourage them to repent! We are called to live above reproach and we all need help and encouragement to do that. |

3 | If I were to die tommorrow | Luke 23:43 | JRMGHM | 181210
I would also be curious what you consider the rapture to be..? There are different opinions (a, pre, and post millieniasts) on whether there is a rapture as many understand it to be today.
4 | Could Jesus sin? | Col 2:9 | JRMGHM | 181209
I agree with the other answer to this, but I just wanted to say that it is a very interesting question.. not as simple as it may seem. Jesus was fully God and fully man as well. God is perfect, man is sinful. And, the Bible states in Matthew 4 that Jesus was tempted.. tempted to what if He couldn't sin? Of course Jesus was no mere man, but I liked that someone asked this question.
5 | why is there suffering in the world | Bible general Archive 3 | JRMGHM | 181208
Go to Genesis and read that Adam and Eve were created w/o sin and therefore did not suffer, and then when they sinned, suffering entered the world. God even promises in Genesis 3 suffering to come to women and men. Believers can't escape suffering now until heaven.
6 | Is Christmas and 25th Dec. biblical? | Bible general Archive 3 | JRMGHM | 181207
Hope not to be repetitive, but as others have posted Christmas is the celebration of the birth of the Messiah Jesus (found in early Matthew and Luke). Dec 25 (or around there) was a pagan holiday initially but Christians decided to celebrate the birth of Jesus instead.. and interestingly, what is the more popular holiday now... the pagan one or Christmas? (although Christmas here has actually become self-centered..) And, I have also heard that Christ actually probably was not born in the month of December. Praising God for the birth of Jesus is not against Scripture at all that I can see.. it's how you do it that's important.
7 | How many did Noah bring on the ark ? | Gen 7:2 | JRMGHM | 181206
OK I'm not a bible scholar.. and I agree with the sacrifice answer. Also, just wanted to throw this in there: I think the number "7" in the Bible often refers to "perfection" or "completeness". Not sure if this is the case there, but if you're really interested it'd be a good thing to research.
8 | Racial Marriage, yes or no | Bible general Archive 3 | JRMGHM | 181205
I think if you look through the OT that God continually warns Israel about not intermarrying with pagan nations or groups of people. The race is never the root issue. Also, Adam and Eve were the first 2.. so everyone is really of the same "race" and are created the same. I liked the other responses to this post, too. I was also going to mention Moses and his wife. So all that being said, depending on where you live in the world it may not be as accepted as in other places but that does not mean we have to refrain from interracial marriage. |
