1 | God's commandment not to worship idols. | Deut 5:8 | Hugger | 35466
Hello Johnny, I was surprised to read your response to my note to Chynna. I have not made nor have I said that is was ok to worship a graven image of any kind Johnny and I do not kneel to any of my jewelry or the cross that is in our santuary at church. I think you need to read my previous post again. I hope that clears up any misunderstandings. PLEASE RE-READ MY PREVIOUS POST AGAIN. Blessings brother. Hugger |

2 | Why didn't the King ask for Daniel first | Dan 4:6 | Hugger | 35387
Hello Preston, If you read Dan. 4:8 you see that he finally arrived and was indeed one of the wise men summoned to interpret the king's dream. It just sounds like he was late getting there. Blessings of knowledge to you! Hugger |

3 | God's commandment not to worship idols. | Deut 5:8 | Hugger | 35386
Hello chynna, You wanted to know if having jewelry such as crosses or an image of Jesus was in conflict of God's commandment. As with anything that we do, say or think God is looking at our hearts. I can't speak for others but for myself I can honestly say I don't worship those 'things' whether they be cross necklaces or earrings or a cross on a church building. If you made them to set up as an image to pay homage, worship or pray to, then that is breaking the commandment. The heart motive behind it is the important thing. Blessings of wisdom and knowledge to you Chynna. Hugger |

4 | The Ministry of the "Walking Wounded" | 1 Tim 4:6 | Hugger | 35183
Makarios, I spelled your name wrong....sorry! (: I hope those webites can help you. It is a very common thing to happen in the ministry. Even Pastors are human and have need of healing. As with the shepherds of the OT like Moses, David, etc., they all received wounds from their flock. It is very sad but at the same time God will use these situations to bring about something good. So, look for the good things in times of trials. I thank the Lord for making you a part of His body here on this forum. Lord bless and keep you! Hugger |

6 | do you have to go to church | Bible general Archive 1 | Hugger | 31954
Dear openhart2god, I would be praying for your husband to be more balanced. You are right about being involved with a local church would give you better opportunities to serve others in a more personal atmosphere. Fellowshipping with other believers (in person, not through t.v.) is part of a balanced, spirit filled life. Even though your husband doesn't want you to go to a local church....you may still be able to serve in one of their outreach ministries or something like that to fulfill your need to serve and help others. Ask the Lord for those opportunities and He will open doors for you. Continue to pray for your husbands spiritual life too. It sounds like he is unbalanced in his view of the purpose of the local church and the function it plays in a believers life. The church is more than just a place to go and be ministered to, like you have said you can help others through a local church. The Bible says in Heb. 10:25 'Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another...and all the more as you see the Day approaching.' As I have said in my previous post that God looks on the heart. There are circumstances that would prevent some from attending a local church but it doesn't sound like your husband is in that category. He is the one who is choosing to not attend a local church. Keep praying and don't give up! Maybe it would be better if one of the brothers on this forum would respond to your question. Someone who might be able to discern where your husband is coming from. It is my experience that the Lord will not hold you accountable for your husband's leading in the family and therefore you need not worry about the hard battles....we all have some and you will not have more because of what your husband is doing or not doing. I believe that those thoughts are from the accuser (Satan). He is always accusing God of being hard or unfair or whatever...don't give in to those thoughts...cast them out in the name of Jesus. I pray the Lord will minister to you and your family and open your husband's eyes to the truth. In His Love, Hugger |

7 | do you have to go to church | Bible general Archive 1 | Hugger | 31694
Hello openhart2god, what are your reasons for having church at home with only family....as always God deals with the heart motives....it would help if you shared your reasons. For example: I know of a family that the mother can't attend church because of her allergies to chemicals, so the family stays home on sunday and has church with her. The family members who don't have allergies do get together with other believers and are not forsaking the gathering together of believers as is stated in Heb. 10:25. By the way.....welcome to the forum....I pray the Lord will speak to you about your question. In HIM, Hugger |

11 | Does God always speak to you? | Heb 13:5 | Hugger | 31295
God does speak to you, if you are listening for Him. He will never leave you (Heb.13:5) but sin can interrupt your hearing Him. The Lord doesn't change or move away from you....it's our moving that would make us seem far away from God. In my searching of scripture I have assurance of salvation. I will never lose it. If you want to explore that topic you can type in on the search feature the words 'lost' or 'lose salvation'. There have been many discussion threads on that topic. I pray the Lord will strengthen your faith. In Christ, Hugger |

12 | Pray with Eyes Closed? | John 11:41 | Hugger | 29473
Hi Hank, I agree with Searcher...there are no obvious verses that tell you to pray with your eyes closed but I think we are taught that to help us not to be distracted and stay focused on the prayers and talking to the Lord instead of on the pray-er and whatever may be going on around us. I pray with open or closed eyes depending on different situations...and in different postures...face up or head bowed...sometimes standing, sitting, kneeling or flat on my face on the floor...walking in the supermarket or driving in the car (too dangerous to close our eyes there!!)I could go on and on but I'm sure you get the picture! God's blessings! Hugger |

13 | How important is your Church? | Bible general Archive 1 | Hugger | 29251
Hello again Brian. I'll try and answer your questions as best I can with the Lord's help! Q. What do I expect from my church? A. I expect to minister and be ministered to for/by the body of Christ when we are gathered together to give praise, thanks and glory to God worshipping him in song, word, tithing, communion, breaking bread and excersizing our gifts among eachother so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:11-13) Q. Do I receive this from my current church and not from the former? A. I am receiving from this church and I did from the former also. Q. What do I bring to the church to help make the church more meaningful in bringing other members to a closer realationship to Jesus? A. I bring to the church myself (as God is molding me) with the gifts and fruits of the Spirit as God has mearsurably given to each of us to bring fullness to the whole local body. P.S. I want you to know Brian, that the Lord has used your questions in a timely fashion to speak to me about my heart for the church (local body)and His purposes for me in it. Thank you for your questions!! Hugger |

14 | verse's on angels ? | Bible general Archive 1 | Hugger | 29156
Hi Ark and PRAISE THE LORD for your deliverance from alcohol!!! I rejoice with you (and the angels)!!! You can use a good concordance for looking up verses on angels. The most often quoted probably is the one that visited Mary when she was chosen to birth our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (Luke 1:26) You can also use the search feature at the right of this window...just type in the word 'angel'. That should get you started. Love in Christ, Hugger |

15 | How important is your Church? | Bible general Archive 1 | Hugger | 29153
Hi Brian, I've been pondering your question since I first read it yesterday. It has caused me to reflect on it in a new way. Thank you for your question. When I miss more than two weeks of fellowshipping, I start to shed other things too....like reading the Bible and talking to the Lord, etc. (It's my pattern of rebellion) I KNOW the Lord brought us to this church (just like the last church we attended) and have not felt led to start searching for another. (Even though I get frustrated with some of the things I hear...it just makes me search the scriptures more and seek the Lord's counsel on what is being taught.) Taking in the counsel of the Word on gathering together regularly and not forsaking it.....I would have to give my church attendance a rating of 10. It is very important and sometimes I resent that it is......does that make sense???? LOL I just thought that was funny.....I'm in a weird place today....so don't mind me!!! (: God's blessings in your search!! Hugger |

16 | Matthew Chap.4 verse 2 | NT general Archive 1 | Hugger | 25928
Hi Joecash.......I'm with Hank and Joe on this...I do not see any direct scriputural reference about this so it would be up to your own convictions (as Hank said) and you are obviously wanting to do the right thing and asking for wisdom about it. I do not see taking communion as breaking your fast. I am on a fast right now and had communion on sunday and it didn't even occur to me NOT to take communion. Peace my brother......Hugger |

17 | Ladies, do I owe you an apology? | 1 Cor 14:34 | Hugger | 25926
Hi Charis, I just read all the posts as of today and I did not see anything that you need to apologize to women for. I value your input on this forum and regard you as a true brother in Christ. Thank you for standing on the Rock. Hugger Just a note...I am one woman who is happy to give finally aurthority to my husband....even when I don't agree with him on something....my conscience is clear and he will have to answer for it before our Father. I will be there to comfort him when he finds out I was right all along! (: (just teasing) |

18 | Alter Calls? | Rom 10:9 | Hugger | 25357
Dear Hank.....hahahaha! Yes...it truly is amazing what has transpired since I posted the question about altar calls. But such is the way of human nature. I tend to take off on bunny trails myself at times so I totally understand and have enjoyed the posts for the most part. I think some people are just "quick on the draw" so to speak when reading responses and tend to get riled over words that were spoken with totally innocent motives....that's what is difficult when posting on a forum like this. It can be taken in the wrong vain it was given. I pray we all will be more discerning in the future! Love to all and Merry Christmas!!! |

19 | Alter Calls? | Not Specified | Hugger | 25119
Alter Calls........ I would appreciate any biblical applications AND opinions/experiences of anyone who would like to respond. I am asking because it has come up several times in my church services where the Pastor has brought the gospel to a clear understanding......and then does not give an "alter call" to those who would respond at that time.....I feel this is crucial to those who are feeling the tug and want to answer the call....they are left without that opportunity AT THE TIME. During these times the Pastor has imparted the salvation message....it leads right up to that expectant point of one taking a step of faith and then "wham" shuts the door. I would appreciate anyones comments and wisdom about this. Also, for those who would think to ask me....no, I have not been in a church that have had alter calls...so I am not familiar with seeing it implimented in church. I just feel that during those times that the Pastor leads there that there should be an alter call...not every sunday. I am planning to ask my Pastor about this too. Thank you all......Hugger P.S. I did a search on this but did not find any questions and answers on this subject on the forum. |
