1 | HISROSEBUD15, is 1 Tim 2:12 not inspired | 1 Tim 2:12 | HISROSEBUD15 | 123740
Sorry for the delayed response...I wasn not asserting anything with regards to 2 Tim 3:16. But I can... I do believe that all scripture is God-breathed, divinely-inspired and perfectly suited for our instruction, perfection, reproof and guidance. It is amazing all the conversation that has ensued as a result of my question. Just like Zsuzsi, I am seeking Christ, fervently and diligently. I want to know His Word, and am trying to learn how to rightly divide His Word for perfect application into my life as well as for proper instruction of my students. Having said all of that, from all of the postings I have read, I have decided to trust that God has answered my prayer for guidance with regards to this question. Confirmation from my fellow believers (as I hope and trust that all of the scripture-quoting forum members are) does not seem to be possible. It is such a shame. How can we, as the Body of Christ, present a single Spirit and ideology to the lost world, when we can not agree amongst ourselves? Grace, Peace and Mercy be upon you all! Key |

2 | So, what's your final answer? | 1 Tim 2:12 | HISROSEBUD15 | 123541
Ok, Steve (thanks for responding btw) So then no woman should be in a position to speak "over" (i.e. teach) ANY man? My mom is a Pastor, and while I love her and believe that she wholeheartedly believes that God has called her to be a Pastor, so many people take issue with it that I want to hear what others have to say and why. I myself have wholeheartedly believed things that I later learned (through the Holy Spirit or just from life experience) were not true. So I want us both to be in line with God s Word and His will. I just want to be right. My mom has been ordained by a wise and sweet man of God...is he too misinformed? There are men in my family who have been saved through my ministry and my mom s. I have been called by the Holy Spirit to be an Evangelist. I sing, I dance, I teach young boys and girls God s Word and His ways... At what age will I no longer be authorized to teach my male students? I will leave the question of the seemingly successful ministries of Joyce Meyers, Paula White and the like for another discussion... Could it be that IDEALLY, in a world where everyone complied with and acted out God s will, that God would want only adult male Pastors? Is it limited to just Pastors...or does 1 Tim 2:12 also eliminate the offices of Deaconness and Co-Pastor as well? Bottom line, I have on my heart to facilitate a new series of discussions, workshops and fellowship services for the Pastors in my hometown, who seem to have much less in common than fellow believers ought to. I believe the division of the leadership in our local churches has contributed profoundly to our local churches inability to effect true, lasting change for our community...we would be so much further ahead. |

3 | Biblical - women preachers/teachers??? | 1 Tim 2:12 | HISROSEBUD15 | 123250
Steve - none of the postings actually give a complete answer or discussion... do you have any insight on the topic? I'd like to know how to rightfully discern that the words in 1 Tim 2:12 are actually God's revealed will or just Paul's humble and culturaly biased opinion...
4 | Can a woman be a Pastor | 1 Tim 2:12 | HISROSEBUD15 | 123246
No, he (man) is NOT head over her (woman)...male and female roles don't come into play other than in family relations (husband/wife, father/daughter, mother/son, brother/sister, uncle/neice, aunt/nephew, etc.) There is neither Jew or Gentile, male or female in Christ. We are ALL admonished to spread the Gospel and make disciples out of all nations. As a single woman, what man am I considered to be "under"? In other words, what man (human male) is given as "head" over me? My Dad? No, he is the head of his household - which now only consists of him and my mom. I am almost 30 and living on my own, waiting for God to send my husband. MY head is Christ, as He should always be; yet I am the current legal head of my household. |

5 | I Tim 2:12 Paul's opinion or God's Word? | 1 Tim 2:12 | HISROSEBUD15 | 123241
In some of his letters, Paul distinguished his words/wishes/opinions from those of the Lord our God. This particular verse has been sited and referenced to support the belief that it is not God's will that women be Pastors (or even ministers in some congregations). Was this verse Paul's opinion, or God's Word?
