|1||Can one who commits suicide be saved?||Ex 20:13||Good Samaritan||10984|
|Welcome and Blessings Tim,
While not a bible scholar, I will do my best to respond to your thoughtful response.
1. I wasn't referring to the human spirit, but to the Spirit of God, of Christ, the Holy Spirit in us. "Human and spirit' seem to imply the body is equal with the spirit of God. This deserves more quotes, but these might be a starter:
Romans 8:29-30 states, "For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren; and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified."
Ephesians 1:4-5, 11 reads, "Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will...also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will."
Ephesians 2:8 suggests that even our faith is a gift from God.
In 2 Thessalonians 2:13, the apostle Paul tells his readers, "God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation."
Ps 51:11, No believer of the present church Age need ever pray, 'take not thy HOLY SPIRIT from me; for Christ promised His own that the Spirit would abide with you forever' (Jn. 14:16; compare Eph. 4:30)
"image of His Son" doesn't refer to Jesus body" nor ours.
2. So, if Holy Spirit abides forever within us, might not this suggest the death of the body is not an "end"? This also brings up the idea that the body doesn't think (ask), but the spiritual mind does all the communicating. Jesus didn't stop communicating after His body was not evident. No where in the bible does it say otherwise that I could find. We feebly try to define the indefinable, but what does "forever" mean if not "timeless?" I see this as "always was, always will be."
Thank you my brother, Good Samaritan
|2||Should Children Die For Parent's Sin?||Deut 24:16||Good Samaritan||10966|
|I take this to mean in the less "literal" sense that we are each responsible for our own error thinking. I want the error to die and awaken to the truth of God's love. We continue to confuse the body with "spirit" which is everlasting. Our error thinking may have an effect in what we model or teach our children. Forgiveness of ourselves, our parents, children and brothers is the solution. Jesus forgave everyone and said: "Forgive them for they know not what they do." That is he saw what we perceive to be a horrendous crime as merely an error in thinking! It is we who have placed different values of guilt onto each error as if one 'sin' were greater than another. There is no order of difficulty in the error and no order of miracles. Jesus taught us that one can be forgiven as easily as another. So much of what HE taught is misunderstood, because we want 'guilt' to be real. We project our belief in guilt onto others. He had no guilt, saw no guilt. He showed only love. Further the old Testament was filtered by men's yet not spiritually evolved minds. What they thought they heard was influenced by their old beliefs and passed on. So the truth was covered (but not obscured).|
|3||Can one who commits suicide be saved?||Ex 20:13||Good Samaritan||10963|
|This answer makes the body equal to the spirit and implies that death of the body ends all! The spirit always was and always will be and anyone can seek, ask at any point during or after "death". Didn't Christ prove to us that there was no spiritual death? He simply laid aside the body he traveled in while here on earth. Resurrection was the message, not death. God wants all his sheep home with him, even the so called sinner or one who made the "error". No where in the bible does it say that if you didn't ask while in the body, you never get another chance!|
