1 | What happened w/Judas? | Gen 1:1 | Gary | 17675
Acts 1:18 tell the rest of the story, the grizzly end of Judas. After hanging by a rope (or twisted cloth) for a few days in the hot sun the rope or cloth would break. The dead body would have begun to decompose thus weakening the walls of the abdoman. Upon falling, the body broke open, thus creating the picture described in Acts.
2 | Judas hanged and later the body fell | Matt 27:5 | Gary | 17674
Someone asked a question about how one could reconcile the death of Judas. Did he hang himself or did he fall and all his bowels gush out? It seems to me that there are two stages to this account. First, Judas hanged himself. Since no one bothered to take the body down, in but a short time the rope (or twisted cloth) would weaken and the body would begin to decompose. When the rope or cloth gave way and the partially decomposed body fell, it would naturally burst apart upon impact. It seems clear to me that this is in fact what happened to Judas.
