1 | Study the Word, Calvin, or Aminian??? | Bible general Archive 1 | Galileecr | 35736
Remember brother "both" sides say they speak for God and have "studied" the scriptures. In koine there are grammatical situations that can go either way. Then what do you do? The humble approach is the best. When U have equal scholarship and love for Christ and a difference still exists(not in essentials) agape rules the day.To agree to disagree so to speak.St Paul said,"we know in part." Sometimes brothers forget that.

3 | How to win sex battle? | Bible general Archive 1 | Galileecr | 35407
Not to be simplistic about it but read 1st Cor 7:2-5......right to the point.Sex is a powerful appetite and can be a real blessing in marriage. It is not just for procreating. In other words enjoy it to the fullest within Gods boundary of marriage. There are a number of good books out.Why not check out your local Christian bookstore or something online.BUT BE CAREFUL ONLINE.Just the word "sex" will lead you to a virtual 42nd street SO be on your guard. An oldie but a goodie during my younger days was,"Eros Defiled".Im sure there are many more on the market today.Dr James Dobson has allot of good data as well. Why not punch in his name in your search engine.U are in my prayers....Pastor CR
4 | Study the Word, Calvin, or Aminian??? | Bible general Archive 1 | Galileecr | 35393
"Elect in The Son" by Robert Shank is the Other side of the coin to this question. It is the best response I have ever seen in 31 years.Usually only Calvinistic materials flood the book shelves but this is an excellent balance.Loving yet to the point. You may not agree with everything in the book but I assure you you will at least hear the other side."Test and prove all things"

7 | Does faith require maintenance? | NT general Archive 1 | Galileecr | 35033
Hi Zach, Thats why I made the distinction between "neglecting" and "rejecting".The Hebrews were in danger of "rejecting" God's grace.I know the word "neglect" is used but it is not the same word/or meaning in english.Strange isn't it? We can use "neglect" but it means something different than the author of the Hebrews meant.O well its all greek to me....So to recap this........When I said "neglect" I meant something quite different than the context of Hebrews....BUT.... we should not take loss of rewards lightly....Im off to Church....have agreat Lord's day! |

9 | Does faith require maintenance? | NT general Archive 1 | Galileecr | 34987
So far its me,you,Paul and Peter! Seriously brother...we do agree. To me its not a matter of "legalism" but simply responding to the Holy Spirit's prompting in our lives. We can be "all that we can be" in Jesus but that 1st Cor 3;10-15 passage clearly indicates "loss" in heaven.I mean it says it..."he shall suffer loss but still be saved." So we may not be "all" that we can be....how? By neglecting NOT rejecting our faith.Nice meeting you brother. |

11 | why did jesus come | Bible general Archive 1 | Galileecr | 34984
He tells us himself.....To seek and save the lost,to bear witness to the truth and to give us a full life in God.He backs this up by rising from the dead. Jesus came to reveal God and eternity and the worth of mankind. But he also declared all have turned from God.He remedied this by giving himself to die on the cross and paving the way for all who would come to him. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son so that whosoever believes in him would not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 Cool deal if U ask me! |

12 | Explain the Trinity. | Gen 1:1 | Galileecr | 34982
God revealed as Father,Son and Holy Spirit. Not three gods(tri-theism) nor is the father, the son and the son, the spirit.(modalism) Simply put the bible calls Jesus and the spirit God...........How can this be? We don't know. Then again we don't know "how" matter stays together as in the very desk your working on but it works. We cannot comprehend the tri-unity of God but we can apprehend it.The issue isn't "how" but does the bible say so.It does. |

13 | Son of Abraham, David, Joseph? | John 7:46 | Galileecr | 34979
Luke 2;40 Jesus grew in wisdom. It is a danger to think of Jesus as only God and not a real man,it is just as dangerous to view him as just a man. Someone in the crowd touched him and he asked,"who touched me?" He did not know when he would return in glory. He never ceased to be "God" but he did limit himself.Perhaps we cannot comprehend this but we can clearly apprehend what the bible tells us.When he needed to walk on water he did..othet times he took mass transit....if U get my drift.Hope this helps. |

14 | Does faith require maintenance? | NT general Archive 1 | Galileecr | 34978
We all must appear before the judgement seat of Christ.1 Cor 3;10-15 The issue is rewards not salvation.Faith requires expression and development. 2Pet 1:1-11,1st Tim 1;18-20 and Col 2;8 Clearly pasivity is a clear and present danger. Note the Judgment seat passages carefully. Finally Phil 2;12-13 In other words work out what God has worked in.We are saved thru faith.God gave us the ability to express that faith so we cannot boast. But to say God has faith for you is unscriptural. We can neglect(not reject) that faith and still be saved...but only as one going thru the fire. Food for thot....no? |

15 | Kairos vs. Chronos | Eph 6:18 | Galileecr | 34974
In this instance I think it simply means to be alert at all times. In Mk 10;30 kairos refs to this lifetime and is contrasted with the coming age. chronos, the duration of a period kairos, stresses it marked by certain features. chronos marks quantity-kairos,quality. I hope this helps......... |

16 | Mythology and the bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | Galileecr | 34963
I think the data you presented is a bit flawed....The real "horus" legend follows. Horus (Egyptian Har or Hor) Egyptian sky god. Usually depicted as a falcon or in human form with the head of a falcon. The sun and the moon are said to be his eyes. Son of Isis and the dead Osiris. He was born at Khemmis in the Nile Delta, and Isis hid him in the papyrus marshes to protect him against Seth, his father's murderer. Horus later avenged the death of his father against Seth. Horus lost his left eye (the moon) in the contest between the two. Horus was identified with Lower Egypt and Seth with Upper Egypt in this battle, which lasted eighty years. The gods judged Horus to be the winner, and Seth was either killed or castrated. The consequence of Horus's victory was the union of Upper and Lower Egypt. The Egyptian pharaoh was believed to be an incarnation of Horus, and the name of Horus formed part of his name. The pharaoh was said to become Horus after death. Seth restored the eye he had torn from Horus, but Horus gave it instead to Osiris. The image of the "eye of Horus", a human eye combined with the cheek markings of a falcon, became a powerful amulet among the Egyptians. Among the various manifestations of Horus were: Harpokrates (Heru-Pa-Khret, Harpakhrad): "Horus the child". This refers to his birth and secret rearing by Isis. In this form he is often depicted as a naked child seated on Isis's lap. Haroeris (Har Wer): "Horus the elder". In this form Horus battled against Seth. Harakhte (Harakhti, Heraktes): "Horus of the horizon". Horus at Heliopolis, linked with Ra in the sun cult. In this form he is associated with the rising sun. Harendotes (Har-nedj-itef, Har-End-Yotef): "Horus the saviour of his father" A reference to the avenging of his father's murder. Harmachis (Heru-Em-Akhet, Harmakis): "Horus in the horizon". Horus as symbol of resurrection, linked with the setting sun. Harsiesis (Harsiese, Har-si-Ese, Hor-Sa-Iset): "Horus, son of Isis". Harsomtus (Har-mau): "Horus the uniter" This is a reference to his role in uniting Upper and Lower Egypt. Hor Behdetite (Behedti): "Horus of Behdet". Originally a local form of Horus as Behdet in the Delta region. In this form he was symbolized by the winged solar disk. Also Horus was not"crucified"....... The principal incident is the death of her son Horus, which took place whilst she was absent in a neighboring city, and was caused by the bite of a scorpion; in spite of all the care which Isis took in hiding her son, a scorpion managed to make its way into the presence of the boy, and it stung him until he died. When Isis came back and found her child's dead body she was distraught and frantic with grief, and was inconsolable until Nephthys came and advised her to appeal to Thoth, the lord of words of power, She did so straightway, and Thoth stopped the Boat of Millions of Years in which Ra, the Sun-god, sailed, and came down to earth in answer to her cry; Thoth had already provided her with the words of power which enabled her to raise up Osiris from the dead, and he now bestowed upon her the means of restoring Horus to life, by supplying her with a series of incantations of irresistible might. I suggest the people who posted such things distorted facts and read into things WAY beyond any accurate comparison of pagan gods with Jesus of Nazareth. When you look into the actual myths you find a world of difference with the historical Jesus. |
