1 | Scriptural basis? | 2 Pet 2:4 | GTSpeck | 231800
Yes I read your response and thank you for confirming with that attitude what I suspected from the beginning - that there truly is no place one can debate or discuss ideas any more in a civil manner. Too bad - I was really hoping this place was different. To those readers following this discussion - say what you will, I won't be seeing it any more.
2 | Sabbath Saturday change to Sunday | Matt 5:18 | GTSpeck | 231791
I was referring to the timing of the resurrection, which from this last post I assume you say took place just prior to sunset on Saturday.
3 | founding a business on Christ | Prov 11:1 | GTSpeck | 231787
Proverbs 11:1 would be a good start.
4 | Scriptural basis? | 2 Pet 2:4 | GTSpeck | 231785
Given the context of Mt. 24, Jesus was saying that just as the people of Noah's time were living as they pleased and experienced sudden and unexpected judgment, so will his return be. As for Peter, he states that the message had been delivered to those who perished in the flood prior to their destruction (who at Peter's writing were "spirits in prison" - not that Jesus himself went to them in prison). The "spirits in prison" could not have been fallen angels. There is no mention in scripture of angels being given the opportunity of redemption which was given to man. Further, if it was fallen angels who corrupted the earth then why was the flood judgment brought on men and the earth rather than those angels? This scripture also cannot refer to Jesus preaching to the men who died in the flood after their deaths - why would he single this group out and not the remainder of lost mankind? There was no division of hell set aside only for antediluvian man, so even if Jesus had gone there to preach to them, there would have been others there besides them. The sons of God in Genesis refers to the followers of God mingling in marriage with the ungodly line of Cain, to the point that only Noah and his family remained. God addresses this in the law when he tells Israel not to intermarry with those they find in the Promised Land, because they will draw their hearts away from Him and toward their false gods. I appreciate the comments; you've spurred me to look into a couple of things I hadn't before, and that IMO is the whole point of this forum. |

6 | 1 Peter 3:19-20. What does it mean? | 2 Pet 2:4 | GTSpeck | 231779
"materialized fleshly bodies" Reference? If they were capable of doing this, why did they bother to indwell the maniac of Gadara, and why did they have to be sent into the swine upon leaving him? |

How about this one: Matthew 28:1-6.
8 | Sabbath Saturday change to Sunday | Matt 5:18 | GTSpeck | 231775
John 20:1 doesn't just come right out and say it, but the implication is clear. There is also more evidence relating to the fact that Jesus himself said he would rise after 3 days, the timing of the various feast days including Passover, and John 19:42.
9 | Scriptural basis? | 2 Pet 2:4 | GTSpeck | 231774
"Okay, first of all do you believe the Bible teaches that the Nephilm were the offspring of the Sons of God?" No I'm not convinced of that. |

10 | Sabbath Saturday change to Sunday | Matt 5:18 | GTSpeck | 231771
The Sabbath (day of rest) was not changed. Christians worship on the first day of the week (Sunday) rather than the last because Jesus rose on the first day.
11 | Scriptural basis? | 2 Pet 2:4 | GTSpeck | 231770
With all due respect, this doesn't support the statement. These scriptures refer to the time when Satan and the angels which followed him were cast out of Heaven.
12 | Enoch went to heavenwithout death how? | John 3:13 | GTSpeck | 231749
As a side note, if you follow the dates given in the lineage you'll find that Enoch went to be with God the same year as the flood.
13 | Scriptural basis? | 2 Pet 2:4 | GTSpeck | 231748
Can you please provide the scripture evidence for this sentence? "Their angelic fathers dematerialized and unwillingly, under compulsion, disappeared into the spirit realm. There they were obliged to join Satan the Devil as their ruler." |

14 | How many days did Noah stay in the Ark? | Gen 7:1 | GTSpeck | 231747
If we follow the timeline given for us in chapters 7 and 8 of Genesis, we get 1 year and 10 days that Noah and his family were in the ark.
15 | where did the other came from? | Gen 5:4 | GTSpeck | 231742
Cain married a sister, one of Adam and Eve's other children from Gen. 5:4. Cain and his siblings were only one generation removed from perfectly created beings, so the offspring of a sibling relationship would not have had the propensity for the genetic defects that we see in sibling offspring today.
16 | When was the opportune time? | Luke 4:13 | GTSpeck | 231741
There was no other specific more opportune or favorable time. Satan simply tried - as the amplified version states here - [the complete cycle of] temptation and failed, so he decided to back off and try again some other time. Much like a retreat and regroup after a failed military campaign.
17 | Enoch went to heavenwithout death how? | John 3:13 | GTSpeck | 231740
The Greek word which is here translated "ascended" is used in the New Testament to describe action taken by the person who is doing the ascending. Example: in the previous chapter (2:13) this same word is translated "went up". The only exceptions are when the object of ascension is an inanimate object - as with thoughts and prayers (e.g., Acts 7:23) - So what Jesus is actually saying here that no one has ascended into heaven under his own power. Enoch went to be with God, but did not do so of his own power.
