Sorry about not answering faster. There are several reasons. One, I am a single parent, so I have very little time to spend here. Two, I get to the page with your question and it says I have to login. So I login and lose the page I was on. I finally find it, and it says I have to login again. I must be doing something terribly wrong here, but I have yet to figure it out. Third, I am dyslexic and it takes forever to write a simple paragraph. Forth, I take it you believe in this book a great deal. I did not find it very interesting or very compelling. Sorry. I do not except the Bible as a reference that the Bible is accurate, that is one problem.

3 | Where did Cains wife come from | Gen 4:17 | FreeThinker | 106884
If there is a God, then he made me the way I am. I always ask "why?" I have nothing to gain by trying to prove God does not exist, and I have everything to gain if I find that he does exist. And again; he made me the way I am, so I will continue to question everything until I get the answers that suit me. I doubt very much that a God that could make the whole cosmos would be so trifle as dislike me becasue I ask why! You know though, I get that alot. If you ask why then you must be out to disprove God. Cattle don't ask questions, they just walk up the ramp to be slaughtered. |

Thank you for your efforts, Makarios, but I still do not understand how one could know how to do something without first having instructions. It sounds to me like Able brought the best of his labors and Cain brought from his. We do not know if it was the best of his crops or not. If Cain was a tiller of the soil, where was he going to get an animal to offer to God? He would have had to get it from Able and what kind of sacrifice would that be? This makes believing in this very difficult. There are so many questions from just the first few pages! Since you are being kind enough to try to explain this, could you please also look into why 2 Kings 19 is an exact copy of Isaiah 37? Thank you, |

5 | Where did Cains wife come from | Gen 4:17 | FreeThinker | 106829
I think that is some leap to a conclusion there. Genesis 4 7 “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.” One, I see nothing that supports why God did not have to specify murder has a sin to Cain, but then felt it necessary to make it a commandment. Two, I see nothing that tells how or what to sacrifice to please him. Third, Kalos made the statement, “(keep in mind, the biblical command against marrying close relatives was not given until thousands of years later during the time of Moses).” So I wondered how Kalos came to that understanding.

Quote "(keep in mind, the biblical command against marrying close relatives was not given until thousands of years later during the time of Moses)" Then why was Cain punished for killing his brother? That commandment wasn't given until Moses was well.

For a few days now, I be trying to decide if I want to continue searching the validity of God through this forum. So far, I felt that I have been talked down to, misguided and rejected. My Answer: I do not ask my question to provoke anyone, nor do I get a delight out of it. You seem to be to be saying that Satan rules anyone who questions the validity of the Bible. I started this quest not to incite you, but to ensure that I was not making a mistake by not believing. To Mommapbs, The only person that I met on here that was not only kind but gave a direction to go and find the answers that I so desperately need. I am still going to read the book Mommapbs, thanks! Dear Tim, I am not sure that we are reading from the same Bible cause the KJV clearly states male and females in chapter 6. I will quote again! “Genesis 6:19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.” It also clearly states “TWO OF EVERY SORT” Genesis 7 1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by (sevens), the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by (two), the male and his female. 3 Of fowls also of the air by (sevens), the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. That is not a change in detail level that is a change to the details. “Concerning who bought the field, that one is also pretty easy. The priests could not accept the blood money back. So, they used it to buy the field of blood. It was still Judas' money they used, so they ((((probably)))) bought it in his name.” Pure speculation! And again the one verse states that Judas bought the field and the other clearly says that the high priest bought the field! It does not say that high priest bought the field in Judas’ name. I am sorry, but it sounds like to me that our conversation has come to an end. You are not making simply mistakes or saying that “to your understanding”, you appear not to even be reading the verses. |

Pastor, I see it as a contradiction because the level of detail in my opinion didn't change, the numbers did. Example: If Gen 6 said, Noah you will need a 110 outlet in the Ark. And then Gen 7 said, To put the 110 outlet in, You need 12-2 wire and oldwork box, the outlet and the cover. That to me is changing the level of detail, and as you pointed out, with 100 year span, I can understand that. My other question was: In the story of Judas, who bought Potter's Field? One story says that Judas through the money at the high priest and they bought the field with the money. The other says that Judas bought the field. Thank you for your help. |

"But, back to Gen. 6 and 7." One account states 2 by 2 the next says 1 pair and 7 pairs. The numbers changed! This is not simply a change in detail level. And why would Moses put the same story back to back in the same book? Read further into Judas and tell me who bought the field? I believe that one of the major obstacle in studying religion and politics is that both sides have already prepared answers for their errors/inconsistencies. I have tried my best not to fall into this trap. Please believe me, I don’t hold it against you if you do not know the answers. My search is for me and people like me. I need more than faith. I need to know why this is this way and that is that way. Thank you very much for the attempt in helping me. |

If you read in this thread you will see that I asked why Genesis 6 says "19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. 20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. 21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them." No mention of 7 pairs. Thank you, |

Sorry, I didn’t want to post anymore until I read the book, but… ”Concerning Gen. 6 and 7, this is one of those examples where I think that people hold Scripture to an unfair and illogical standard.” God inspires it so I would think that lends itself to be held to a higher standard. “If one account lists a certain amount of detail and then a later account gives greater, but not contradictory detail, where is the problem?” Matthew 27 3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. While in Acts 1 16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. 17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. 18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. One states that the priest bought the field and the other states that Judas bought the field. There are several more seemingly contradicting stories in the Bible and they are a stumbling block for me. ”No historical narrative can possibly give every possible detail of an event. Historians must pick and choose how much and what details to include. This is the case in Gen. 6. For some reason unknown to us, Moses only mentions the pairs in chapter six, but in chapter seven he expands the detail and includes the references to the clean and unclean.” There are studies that show that Moses didn’t write all that he was accredited with. They suggest that there were many authors. |

Here is an interesting study that you might enjoy. Are humans 'hard-wired' to believe in God? By Amy Ellis Nutt http://www.baptiststandard.com/2003/4_28/pages/hardwired.html Maybe my brain has a short in it. Thank you for taking the time to answer.
