Greetings Ricardo, Thank you for your wishes. I did, thanks. Hope your Christmas was blessed too. The weather here in the Pacific Northwest is cool and rainy. I am grateful to God for each day here! Thanks for your encouragement. Edie The Lord Bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine on you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance on you and give you peace. Greetings Ricardo, I've posted some profile info that you requested because I know that it is helpful to get to know someone through this type info. I want to reiterate that it is extremely important to me to know and assert my true identity as that of child of GOD, because without that constant assertion it is to easy to lose proper focus and begin to act inconsistent with that identity of child of GOD, while dealing with worldly situations. Knowing who we are in Jesus Christ keeps us focused properly on GOD's will. Thanks for your inquiry from Down Under! I had the privilege of visiting Australia many years ago and enjoyed it very much. Hi Tara1, In ref to your statement in your post dated 12-16-03 "So a study of evidence (both Biblical and secular) provides for us that it was changed except in Revelation 19:1 (praise Jehovah)where the shortened form is still there." What sources do you have outside of the JW web sites? Thanks Edie |

Question: Is Searcher and Tara1 the same person? If not, please do not respond to the wrong email string as it creates confusion. If these two are the same person then allow me this observation: It is disingenuous to be two identites on the same forum as it creates confusion and when found out destroys any credibility you may have had. Thanks Edie |

8 | Some people believe it's Mouhammad | John 16:13 | Edie | 106801
Answer: I would say read this verse in context. Expand the number of verses read John 16:5-15. 5 “But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’6 “But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 8 “And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. 12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14“He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. The New American Standard Bible, 1995 Update, (La Habra, California: The Lockman Foundation) 1996. Now for my reasoning: 1) Christ Jesus is speaking of the Helper sent in His absence after His ascension [NASB Greek Dictionary-3875. paravklhto" parakleµtos; from 3870; called to one’s aid:— Advocate(1), Helper(4). ] that will come and convict [NASB Greek Dictionary - 1651. ejlevgcw elegchoµ; a prim. vb.; to expose, convict, reprove:— convict(2), convicted(2), convicts(1), expose(1), exposed(2), rebuke(1), refute(1), reprimanded(1), reprove(4), reproved(1), show...fault(1). ] human beings of their sin. 2) For a definition of “the Helper” in Jesus own words, also Reference John 14:26 - “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 3) Jesus Christ is the basis for the Christian movement and the Helper He sent to fill His apostles as stated in Act 2:1-4 helps me still today. [Acts 2:1When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. ] 4) Since Muhammad was a human being who was born about 600 years after Christ Jesus, he hardly qualifies to be the Holy Spirit who came to the Apostles shortly after Christ Jesus’ ressurrection. 5) Muhammad was the basis for the Islamic movement which diverges widely from Christianity. Also, He was a human being who died long ago. That fact prevents Muhammad from being a Helper to me in my Christian faith today. |

10 | NASB accuracy to Greek and Hebrew | John 1:1 | Edie | 106655
Thank you Tim and Makarios, You are definitely correct regarding the love we must show to others - adversary or not! The conversations I have had with my JW friends have all been very cordial in tenor and demeanor. I actually like them very much! I am totally convinced that God loves and finds value in all human beings (even those who are in the darkness like Saddam Hussein). Otherwise, how can I be so sure that He loves me????? I am convinced that God wants EVERYONE home with Him. He is an inclusive God, not an exclusive God. The primary thing anyone needs to do is accept God's gift of love, mercy, and redemption. Prayer for God's will to be worked in our lives according to His great plan is a powerful thing. Your sister in Christ Jesus Edie |

11 | NASB accuracy to Greek and Hebrew | John 1:1 | Edie | 106617
Thank you to all who responded to this question!! Tho' I have no understanding of Greek nor probably ever will have any grasp of it (It's all Greek to me- ooooh, I know, bad joke), I have gained insight into God's Word and why I believe as I do! After all that is what this is all about. The challenges put to me by the JWs have been turned into a blessing by our ONE True God the Father, God The Son and God the Holy Spirit. Your sister in Christ Jesus, Edie |

12 | NASB accuracy to Greek and Hebrew | Not Specified | Edie | 106557
Regarding the NASB translation of the Bible: Can you give me your views and supporting sources on the accuracy of it to the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts? Recently, I was told that the translators of the modern Bibles intentionally left out the article "a" in the verse John 1:1 (ie. the famous God vs "a god" translation arguement) Unfortunately, not being a Greek/Hebrew scholar, I had no convincing response to give him, so responded that I would not acccept his assertion of intentional omission by the NASB translators anymore than he would accept my assertion that his NWT was inaccurate. Pretty weak huh? What say ye on this matter? If any of you can translate Greek or Hebrew I am very interested in hearing your input. Thank you, In Christ and loving Him, Edie |
