1 | Is Gambling a Sin? REf. Please | Bible general Archive 1 | Double Vision | 39640
tomn thanks, it was my first shot at this, I love it. Info. there was great, however it seems the wisdom of man, or fear of man, or fear of freedom in relationship to the Father was driving most answers. I wonder how many of the great wells of wisdom could have been a Hosea and married a harlot. Or figuring the odds would have stepped into a flooding Jordon river to move into the promise land. Personnaly I shall refrain from the use of gambling as an entertainment, for the sake of the brethrens' faith. I love this place.
2 | Is Gambling a Sin? REf. Please | Not Specified | Double Vision | 39584
Is gambling scriptural sin or just a sin created by man to make man more holy in mans eye? My wife and I were discussing Gambling today. And instinctively responded to a certain situation with it is wrong because the word says it is wrong. That answer troubled my spirit, having a fair knowledge of the word. And after some research found that the bible is quiet on this subject. With the exception of the casting of lots, in which God is in the middle of most all references to this item. Is our only response to this item in life to refrain from all appearance of evil, and is it evil, because of the doctrines of man and not God???

The NKJV has a footnote that show's confusion as to the Capitalization of the He saw, referring to John or Jesus in Matt. John 1:32,33 is clear on the subject of who saw. In this context Mark is not wrong in indicating that Jesus also saw it. For He to would be expecting the sign

John 1:32,33 And to better state John knew the Christ would come to Israel in his lifetime, not that he knew him personally though they were kin, And even if they grew up together it wasn't until this event that he knew Him to be the Messiah of Israel. even as the maggi knew of the Kings arrival and not necessarily the particular child until the glory of the father had shown them the child. |

When the maggi followed the star, why didn't Herrod see it also could he not follow it to the child. The shekinah glory of God is what was seen and only those expecting, looking for it and or those chosen by God to see it will see it. The maggi where instructed by nonother than Daniel when he was in charge of them and it was passed down through there history and they were expecting it. John was instructed through the old testement and via his relationship with the father of the sign and was therefore expecting it.He knew Christ was the Christ from his mothers belly, but God had also told him He would confirm it with this sign. Many there may have known of the sign through John's teaching and therefore would be expecting it as well..
