1 | Your kingdom come...what does this mean | NT general Archive 1 | Doris | 15912
Hi From a personal perpsective I prayed the "Our Father" and that alone for many years while recovering from depression. It was a beautiful experience, and gradually His Kingdom arrived in my heart. I believe God seeks us one by one, any way He can. The problem is that we lack respect for each other and so lost of people give up. Is it possible that JW friend is also being led to God. I'm not saying JW is the preferred way of seeing the Truth of God, obviously it misses the main point, but we are all in a state of becoming. I would like to know what you think. Doris |

2 | Can one lose his reward? | Matt 10:42 | Doris | 15908
This is about experience of life. You can only know it when you do it. The reward is instaneous. When you notice something today that is difficult for you, a begger, a hooligan, I don't know whatever it is that make you turn away. Turn back a give what that person "needs". The reward is in the act itself. Please do not interpret this to mean you must give everything away. Doris |

3 | if someone take there own life where wil | NT general Archive 1 | Doris | 15906
Suicide is a sign of deep trouble and painfulness, it is very hard to take ones own life, it is a desperate situation, loss of faith may be part of the problem. There is usually unexpressed anger both in the person and their family. It is an illness. A person who does this is in need of God's mercy. As are the family. It is better that the family receive all the care of Christ so that the tradegy does not get repeated in the next generation too. As to heaven or hell I think only God knows how to deal with this in a just way. Can He be trusted to do so? Well we dare not test Him? Jesus had something to say about Judas! I can't remember what. Jesus seems to have treated suicide in the way that He treated all sin, it was tragic, it was real, it was why He did what He did. Didn't Jesus say it was terrible for the one who causes a person to sin, rather than condemning the sinner. There is plenty of agreement between the Bible and science of Human Beings. Regards Doris |

5 | The bible is a work of fiction - discuss | Gen 1:1 | Doris | 15775
I was interested to read your comments. I wondered if you feel threatened by the beliefs of others? I have a very good friend who is an excellent scientist and a christian, a very loving person and above all truthful however much that hurts him. He helps people to understand how their childhood contributed to their non-belief. So many of the things the church does is counter productive to a relationship with God. For instance Jesus blessed the children and taught the adults, but the church often slips into teaching the children and blessing the adults. I hope you continue to search, at least until you no longer need to. Doris |

In the miracle stories in the Gospels is there a logical sequence, are they connected. For example are all the stories of raising the dead linked, if so how? |

8 | WILL YOU KNOW YOUR LOVE ONES IN HEAVEN | Luke | Doris | 14614
Hi Emily, Jesus came to tell us about the Kingdom. It is here and now, we don't have to wait for death to enter the kingdom of God. When we loose someone we are close to we grieve for that person, this helps us to loosen our attachment to them in order that we can prepare to attach to others. (This can be painful and yet so freeing too) I too have wondered if we will meet our loved one in heaven? Jesus says the time for marriages will be past, but he also says we do not know the power of God. I read this to mean "all things are possible for God" I have had some very healing dreams during grieving, I saw my aborted child, which was very healing for me. I hope this helps Doris |

Steve, thanks for your reply. On reading the Luke 16 parable i.m left with the impression that Lazarus is now comfortable because he was uncomfortable during in life. I think this is at odds with what we know about human developement and how important it is for a child to have its needs met, in order to develope as a whole human being. Or should it be understood as a judgement on the rich man, who appears to have known the name of Lazarus but failed to respond to his need. In that case are we to think that we have to respond to the needs of people if we know their names? I am only beginning to read the bible, so forgive my ignorance. Doris |

11 | raising of Lazarus-what does it mean? | Not Specified | Doris | 14531
I would like to know about how the parable of the Rich man and Lazarus and the raising of Lazarus are connected if at all. Luke 16 I think for the first parable and not sure about the second. Did Jesus raise Lazarus just so he could die again? Thanks for your help. |
