1 | Heirs of God - Becoming Gods? | Not Specified | D.D.1961 | 48741
I heard a statement that startled me about being heirs of God. They said that if we become heirs of God, then we are able to have all that He has...so, if we have all that He has, we should be like Him...like God. I told them that this only means that we have the right to be with Him in Heaven, but they said that isn't how it is spelled out in the bible. What do you folks think?

3 | Is it a sin? Am I disobeying Him? | Deut 5:16 | D.D.1961 | 47551
I suggest that you listen to your father. Even though this is supposed to be a Christian website, it doesn't mean that weirdos or perverts might use this site as well. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you. He is much older than you and may be looking for a young girl to feel sorry for him and want to meet you. Whatever you do, DO NOT meet with him. Many people have had some serious problems with people on the internet. Don't take this the wrong way, but when most people ask for advice, they usually ask a close friend around the same age or someone older. I doubt that a 19 year old boy would be asking a 13 year old girl for help. I think he is up to something. Again, I'm not trying to sound mean or rude, I just think you may end up in something you really don't want to be in. Good luck!
4 | Compare secular music to Christian music | Bible general Archive 1 | D.D.1961 | 47548
I don't have my bible handy at this moment to give a scripture, but I would like to comment about the secular music compared to Christian music. I know that God loves music when we worship Him and uplift others with our spirits when we praise Him. However, most (not all) of the current trend in music today is violent, crude, sexual, etc... Alot of these new songs have swear words in them, encourage young people to do things that are wrong (violent/sexual). I don't have a problem with the sound of the instruments, the tune, or the volume...but I do have a problem with the lyrics on alot of them.
5 | D.D., is paradise a holding pattern? | Bible general Archive 1 | D.D.1961 | 47083
Luke 23:32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. Luke 23:39-43 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear god." he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." |

6 | Let Mormon in on family celebrations? | Not Specified | D.D.1961 | 47038
I have been re-married to my husband (MORMON) for 10 months and my brother refuses to let him participate in any family functions. It has made myself and my other siblings uncomfortable. My husband doesn't push any of his beliefs on anyone and never even mentions his beliefs unless someone asks. I don't "see" my brother changing his mind and allowing my husband in on family celebrations. I know we aren't supposed to necessarily seek out those who are of different religions and "hang out" with them, but it says we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. To a certain degree, I would think this would be an opportunity for my brother to witness to my husband like I do. My husband doesn't think my brother is showing any type of Christian behavior and I can't really disagree with him. What would any of you do if the situation were in your family? PS. My brother tells his 5 year old daughter (my niece) that my husband is friends with the Devil). I think this is cruel because my husband loves children and now my niece is afraid of him and has never even seen him)

9 | D.D. do you have support from Scripture | Bible general Archive 1 | D.D.1961 | 47033
James 1:12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial because when he has stood the test, he will receive the CROWN of LIFE that God has promised to those who love him. 2 Timothy 4:8 Now there is in store for me the CROWN of RIGHTEOUSNESS, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. Revelation 20:12-15 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and BOOKS were opened. Another BOOK was opened, which is the BOOK of LIFE. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the BOOKS. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the SECOND death. If anyone's name was NOT found written in the BOOK of LIFE, he was thrown into the lake of fire. NOTE: Earlier in Revelation 4:10 it speaks of "living creatures" (I don't know if these are angels or what), but it says that they laid their crowns before the throne. As far as the holding pattern goes, that is just my opinion since Jesus told the thief that was crucified next to him that he would be with HIM in paradise that very day (however, the final judgement doesn't come until later on), that is why I think it is a waiting place...NOT Purgatory like the Catholics believe where you suffer for awhile and then are able to enter Heaven. I hope this helps...I'm not the best at interpreting the bible, but this is the conclusion I have come to. Your best bet is to re-read the New Testament and find answers for yourself. Not everybody on this site will give the same answers or may even give very wrong information (including myself at times due to lack of understanding). GOOD LUCK! D.D. |

10 | after death, right then, what? | Bible general Archive 1 | D.D.1961 | 46802
I believe that after you die you go to either paradise (if you are saved) until the time of judgement which is where you will receive crowns for the good things you have done on earth. However, I'm not sure exactly where you go if you are NOT saved while you await judgement or if you are just in a "holding pattern" until then. Later on (if you aren't saved), you are thrown in the "lake of fire" with Satan where you will spend eternity in torment day and night. Eternity is a hard thing to imagine, but it says in the bible that our life on earth seems like a vapor that disappears compared to eternity. I hope I helped a little. D.D.
11 | Adultery, Married, Should I now divorce? | Not Specified | D.D.1961 | 46484
Can a person who was saved and then committed adultery and married the person still go to Heaven if they acknowledge that what they did was wrong and they are sorry about it as well. I did this and I am deeply troubled by what I did because I know God forbids it. Sometimes I just feel so disgusted with myself, but it is done and over with. I am sorry, but love my husband (who I previously committed adultery with). Should I divorce him now and remain single even though I love him. I don't think this would please God either. I just feel so discusting now and worry about not being forgiven (even though it says I am). You can be honest and hard on me, but please don't be too harsh...I really am sorry.

14 | Different "classes" within Heaven? | Not Specified | D.D.1961 | 46470
I just read a book by Dr. Charles Stanley called Eternal Security. It is a very good book. However, one part puzzled me and I hope someone can help clear this up for me. I know that when a saved person goes to Heaven that they will be judged and some will receive crowns for the good things they did on earth. The book said this, but also mentioned that we may be treated differently than others in Heaven or have more "say so" in Heaven than others. Is this true? Also, it said that some may "reign and rule" with Christ, but others won't. HELP! D.D.

16 | Proof of wrong spirit vs. Holy Spirit | Not Specified | D.D.1961 | 46214
Is there a way to find out if an evil spirit made you believe it was the Holy Spirit? I asked my husband (Mormon) to pray and ask that only the true spirit of God would speak to him and to come into his heart and he said that nothing became of it, but when he prayed years ago about the book of Mormon, he had a "burning in the bosom" and that is how he "KNOWS" the book of Mormon is true. However, I told him about the part in the bible that says that even a demon can present themself as a spirit of light. He continues to believe he is filled with the Holy Spirit. Is there any way that I can prove to him that he will believe that he doesn't have the true spirit? DD

18 | Clarity - Jesus being sin and in Heaven | Not Specified | D.D.1961 | 46079
Back to the question of why Jesus went to Heaven if He took our sins upon himself...I understand the reason for His death and that He took away our sins, but...I still don't understand why He was allowed back in Heaven...was He ever in Hell...if so, how long was he there. I'm not trying to be difficult or debate the issue. I honestly just don't understand. Can anyone give me more clarity on the subject? Thanks! DD

20 | If Jesus became sin why is he in Heaven? | Not Specified | D.D.1961 | 45934
When Jesus died and took our sins upon himself and took the punishment that was due to us, how was he able to go back to Heaven? If we didn't accept him as Lord and our sins were upon us, we would go to Hell. Can someone explain this to me. DD |
