1 | forgiveness confirmed? | 1 John 1:1 | Brain Cell | 61286 | ||
At one time I too had your fear of being separated from the gift of God. I was nine years old at the time, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Although I can't remember what caused me to fear death, I do remember that I didn't want to die. My father told me that I should pray to God and ask Him for forgiveness and also to ask him to be my salvation, and that was enough at that time. It wasn't until I was 17, that I started to truly communicate with God. In order to get to school I had to cross a street controlled by a traffic light, and being a teenager, I would often run late getting to class, so I would pray to God to "Please change the light so that I can cross and get to class on time!". When my prayers were answered, I would praise God. It wasn't until last year though that I realized that it was through that communication that God slowly made me aware of his presence. Achieving the assurance of salvation only requires that we believe in Jesus Christ, but Christ doesn't want us to stop there. He wants our belief to be childlike. Many children have imaginary friends, but Christ wants to be our real "imaginary" friend. If you talk to God as a child would, you will receive the assurance that you desire and a lot more. Be warned, however, that attaining true peace in your relationship with Christ will involve humbling yourself before God. For me, that meant years of asking for forgiveness to restore our communion after I committed sin after sin. After 15 years, I still occasionally sin and ask for forgiveness, but God graciously forgives, and I thank God daily for my relationship with Him. In Christ, Brain Cell But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18 |

I'm sorry Ray, I meant to capitalize Holy Spirit each time I typed it, but I'm not accostomed to proof reading my typing for capitalization errors, and so I didn't catch my mistakes. I thank you for including Isaiah 11:1 and Isaiah 11:10, for my spirit feeds off the truth of God as the Holy Spirit nurses it, and those verses were like mothers milk to me filling me with the Holy Spirit from beginning to end. One curious result of being filled with the Spirit is that when I hear the truth of God spoken I can feel my spirit drink in the love of God and shine with inner light just as if my heart is a halogen bulb connected to a dimmer switch. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 |

The Holy Spirit is a gift from God. God gives gifts as he sees fit. What's to say that Jesus didn't empart the gift of the Holy spirit on John when Mary visited Elizabeth-- Luke 1:41: When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. I myself was filled with the Holy Spirit years before I was Baptised with water. The spirit comes to those who believe, not those who are baptised. P.S. not to split hairs, but couldn't amniotic fluid be considered as baptism in water? May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 |
