1 | I need help on concentrating. | Rev 22:18 | Babbling Brook | 13853
I'm glad you came here! You shouldn't have to force yourself to read the Bible. Here are some ideas which have helped me: 1. As a Christian, you have Christ living in you. Even if you yourself have trouble staying focused, the Christ within you doesn't. Count on HIM to give you the passion for His Word. Also, pray before you even open the book. 2. Just start with small portions, a few verses at a time. It's better to read one verse in God's power than to read five chapters and get nothing out of them. Trust His Spirit to help you remember things. He promised He would. 3. Go to church or home-group Bible studies or Sunday School. Studying together with other believers will really make it come alive for you. Hope that helps... |

2 | Why are Israel and Judah separate groups | 1 Sam 11:8 | Babbling Brook | 13750
I believe that Judah has always been set apart as special, because this is the tribe from which Messiah would come. In fact, all the ancestors of Jesus "just happen" to be highlighted and singled out in the Old Testament. Also, I think Judah is singled out in Samuel because it's David's tribe.
3 | what made Israel's | 2 Kin 17:8 | Babbling Brook | 13749
It says that they practiced the customs of the nations which the Lord had driven out, that is the Canaanites. Those guys practiced child sacrifice, gross perversion, incest, worship of other gods--you name it. That in itself is terrible but what is worse is that Israel had had SO MUCH given to them--miracles, the Word of God, wonderful provision--but they STILL went after other gods. Go figure.
4 | what of bondage | 2 Kin 17:15 | Babbling Brook | 13747
They enter into bondage to cultic practices, legalism and also to their own selfish desires. They can also become enslaved to addictions and perversion. I believe that's what these verses you in 2 Kings teach us.
