1 | how to evaluate our pastor | Not Specified | 1949 | 137488
I am chairman of a committee at my church charged with evaluating the Pastor's performance. His call (contract)promises regular evaluations but we have not done this in the 4 years he's been here. Can anyone give me advice or refer me to materials I might look to for guidance? 1977

7 | Discovering the will of God | Eph 2:10 | 1949 | 129157
I surely agree with you that the God we see in his word is not the Hollywood image! I'm really not expecting the voice of James Earl Jones from above to say "1949 go to this college not that one, major in this and not that and then I will be pleased with you". But - as I channel my thoughts and wait - what exactly am I waiting for? Where in scripture would you send me to read more about this?
8 | How will I know? | Eph 2:10 | 1949 | 129155
Thanks for the thoughtful answers to my question. This is the first time I've ever been on a forum and I'm surprised that strangers would take time to respond. Can I ask one more? You say that the Holy Spirit will direct me to a scripture - this would seem to be what Christ refers to in John when he talks about the comforter bringing to mind what we've learned (were you refering to what we've learned or did you mean something else?) But you also say that God will show me his will for my life - can you give me a scripture reference where we're given an example of this or taught how to do it? How will I know if I've been obedient to God in step #1? How can you tell if you've really heard God or if you're just hearing your own will? In all the examples I can find in the Bible God seems to speak in a pretty clear voice - people don't always seem to obey but they always seem to hear. You don't see Jonah saying "Did I hear something?" What am I missing? As I previewed this it sounds more argumentative than I intended. Please don't be offended, I think you're probably right since almost everyone I've ever heard or read on the subject of prayer says just what you are saying.
9 | Discovering the will of God | Eph 2:10 | 1949 | 129010
Thanks for your answer. I understand that all scripture is for my instruction but I guess my question is this - I hear people I admire teach that prayer should be a two way coversation with God, as though God gives them specific direction. I hear others refer to seeking the will of God in this or that. I don't believe that I have ever had this kind of communication from God. Does this indicate that I am missing something or that I am not in His will? Does He have a particular intent for my life which I must somehow discover?
