3 | Where Does It Say That In Acts? | Acts 2:4 | 1-2steve | 148444
Tim, Unfortunately, I feel that it was. Only because I asked myself the question; what good has come out of it? Only to create confusion for the one who posed the question in the first place. nomi? That's why I said what I did. I wish good did come out of it. But maybe I'm naive and didn't see the good. If there was, please explain that good to me. In Christ, steve |

Amen. You just nailed it right on the head. Acts 17:11!:) I hope the day never comes when I think that someone can't teach me. Just dig my grave at that point. Because once I'm unteachable, I believe God will put me right on the shelf. I so agree with you brother! I love it too! In Christ, steve |

5 | What is wrong? | 2 Cor 12:13 | 1-2steve | 148419
mommapbs, Hello! I think that it may be the fact that Paul wasn't recieving money for preaching. Whereas the false apostles (11: 13-16) would always take money from the churches, which apparently is not characteristic of a true apostle. So I would be inclined to lean towards the fact that Paul was being sarcastic in that statement.? But I also would think that Paul was being specific here. He didn't say minister, only apostle. Secondly, the only way I see this translating into the church today, goes back to 11:12. Not giving someone something to boast about. Just guessing at this point!:) In Christ, steve |

Kalos, The "here" that I was refering to is 1 Cor. 13:1,2,3.:) In Christ, steve p.s. I would like to ask (since it's too late to take my earlier note away) to just forget about this, seeing that we're gonna be at odds. The truth of the matter is that I've been in bible studies, prayer groups and praying with Christians at the Christian Film Festival. And in all of those, in the end we all would start to worship God. And darn if someone wouldn't start speaking in tongues. I couldn't focus on God. I felt very uncomfortable. It was a major disruption. It surely "never" edified me. And I decided to search out the truth for myself. In the last 2.5 years, I struggled with this issue (needless to say, some woman calling herself a prophetess told me that it wouldn't be long before I was hanging form the rafters too!), this one is the one that pushed that button. I have prayed, searched the Scriptures, prayed, searched commentaries (most of which were inconclusive), prayed more and read a few books. And I drew my conclusion based on the evidence placed before me. And other Scriptures that we would disagree on. So my point to this is that we're never gonna get any further. Just a bunch of hot debate. So I'm waving the white flag. I will believe what I believe, and so you will to. But there are far better things to talk about. About 1,800 pages of the bible perhaps? Let's do as the writer of Hebrews said "Therefore leaving the elementary doctrines of Christ, let us press on to maturity. |

9 | how do i regain my wifes trust and love | Bible general Archive 2 | 1-2steve | 148406
Searcher, No one has shared any "rules" with me. I offered him to go to counciling, not to me. But I can relate. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I was just under the impression that Christians don't turn their back on someone in need. (well, sorry you're hungry, go eat that rock over there!). I'm not directing that your way at all, so please don't think I am. It just really concerns me when we have to turn our backs on someone because of some rules. I am NOT a counselor by any stretch of the imagination (which is why I encouraged him to seek counseling), but could you imagine what he might have thought of Christians if he got such cold responses (just go away, we can't talk to you)? In Christ, steve |

14 | CLARIFICATION of Gen. 1:26 | Gen 1:26 | 1-2steve | 148395
Tamed, Hi! The reason God said "let us" is because of the name referenced to God in this passage. The Hebrew word is Elohim. It's a plural word that means "gods", but specifically used of the supreme "God" (this can get really deep, so I'll leave it alone for now). So God the Father was actually having fellowship with His Son before the creation of the world! Also, the gospel of John tells us that "all things were made by Him (Jesus). Also Heb. 1:2; 1 Cor. 8:6 (according to this Scripture, the world was created "by" Jesus, and was created "for" the Father)?; and the best one of all (in my eyes) is Col. 1:16. Hope this will help.:) In Christ, steve |

15 | WHAT DOES 2PETER1:4 MEAN AND IS THERE A | Gen 1:26 | 1-2steve | 148394
FUTURES' How fitting a mame concidering the reference to 2 Pet.1:4.:) I'm just simply gonna quote my commentary on this one. "Through these" refers to God's "glory and goodness" or more generally to His salvation mediated through the Incarnation. So when Christ came at His 1st advent, God made certain promises (very great and precious) of the Messianic Age (3:9, 13) to be brought in when Christ returned. These promises enable Christians to "participate in the divine nature". How does this participation come about? In at least 2 ways: 1) The promises themselves have a purifying effect on a believers life (1 John 3:3). 2)Conversion entails a definite break with "the corruption...caused by evil desires". In coming to know God through Christ, believers escape the corruption of sin; and Christ renews and restores the image of God in them. (Expositor's Bible Commentary). Do you see why I said that your name was so fitting?:) In Christ, steve |

Kalos, I'm glad that you pointed out to Doc that you were speaking in "hypothetical" terms, using the word "IF". Isn't that how Paul started 1Cor. 13:1,2 and 3. So was Paul also speaking in "hypothetical " terms here too?:) But check the greek word "ean" out for yourself. Don't take my word for it.:) I'm just stating the facts my brother.:) In Christ, steve |

Ray, I'm so sorry! I meant v. 5 not 6. We are going through Hebrews now (and been for over a year) and what I was wondering is that the Israelites were delivered, they just weren't allowed to enter into the promised land. And Hebrews talks of an inheritance. Perhaps the 1,000 yr. reign with Christ. And just as the Israelites did not enter because of unbelief, the believers who don't "hold fast our confidence (3:6), the beginning of our assurance (3:14) and our confession (4:14) will not reign with Christ in the millenial reign. But it doesn't necessarily mean that we won't go into eternity (like this is a loss of rewards at the Bema Judgement Seat). But Jude "seems" to say the opposite concerning those thar were "delivered". And Jude not only speaks of their sin ( angels, Soddom and Gomorrah, and the certain men), but also of their judgement. I just wanted some input on what you thought. Sorry for not specifying the right verse. But do you see what I'm struggling with? Also that rest is supposed to have something to do with the reign of the righteous King. What do you think? Sincerly steve |
