8 | Jesus went to God immediately? | John 20:17 | 00123 | 241485
Hi, Doc, to be honest with you, EdB's comment makes sense, but not yours. Paradise Jesus mentioned is not the same as the Catholic or Jewish Purgatory. Two additional questions following your response, then: (1) If Jesus ascended to God Father's hands in the Heaven upon death on the cross, was the place Paradise? (2) If Jesus went up to God Father, did He (probably, His soul) come down to join His body to be resurrected ? If so, why did He say "I have not yet ascended to the Father" (John 20:17)? Clarify please.
9 | Jesus went to God immediately? | John 20:17 | 00123 | 241480
Your second sentence has no biblical ground but sounds like your own wishes. Speak by the Word plz. Anyhow, are you saying that Jesus went to God Father immediately upon His death?
10 | Isn't Paradise the Heaven? | John 20:17 | 00123 | 241476
An excellent answer to my question! Thanks. God bless!
11 | Isn't Paradise the Heaven? | John 20:17 | 00123 | 241474
In Luke 23:43 Jesus tells a thief on the cross that they would be in Paradise on that day. But in this verse Jesus says he has not ascended to Father yet. Then, isn't Paradise the Heaven? Where was Jesus between the death and the resurrection?
12 | Vessels to honor or dishonor | 2 Tim 2:20 | 00123 | 241391
First, you didn't answer my question. Second, yes, we can cleanse ourselves and that is our responsibility. Read the next verse (:21).
13 | Vessels to honor or dishonor | 2 Tim 2:20 | 00123 | 241389
Which one is this verse meaning: (1) only gold and silver vessels give honor to the Lord as they are cleansed ones and others are not or (2) any type of vessels can if it cleanses itself?
14 | Timothy's age | 2 Tim 2:22 | 00123 | 241361
Doc, You are spending time very wisely. I am a doc, too, but not in medicine or theology (obviously not). I am a mere student who wants to learn the Bible for my faith.
15 | Timothy died at age 80 in 97 AD? | 2 Tim 2:22 | 00123 | 241351
EdB, Thanks for your reply, which is kind very contradictory to our usual Sunday school teaching in which Timothy is depicted as a boy while Paul as an old man with beard as well as a pastor's sermon, which is not much different from the Sunday school one. By the way, do you know "the" original source of the argument that Timothy was martyred at age 80 in 97 AD?
16 | Timothy's age | 2 Tim 2:22 | 00123 | 241347
Doc, aren't you a scholar?
17 | Timothy's age | 2 Tim 2:22 | 00123 | 241344
Dear Doc, thanks a lot for your kind response, but it didn't answer any of my three questions.
18 | Timothy's age | 2 Tim 2:22 | 00123 | 241340
Beja, Thanks for your kindness. Let me reiterate the questions, then. Do you (or any other reader) know (1) the year when 2 Timothy was written, (2) the age of Timothy at that time, and (3) whether or not Timothy was like one generation younger than Paul (e.g., Paul calls timothy as my son)?
19 | Timothy of age 50 treated as a child | 2 Tim 2:22 | 00123 | 241338
2 Timothy was written in year 67 and Timothy, born in year 17, was age 50. In the old time, a person of age 50 might have been a grandparent and even today most people of age 50 don't live for youthful lusts. So, why does Paul treat Timothy as an adolescent here and in other verses of the letters to Timothy?
20 | Timothy's holy calling | 2 Tim 1:9 | 00123 | 241271
Thanks, Doc, for the info. Now would you answer my question?
