Money can be a big idol and partaking of ungodliness to get rich is definitely a way to eat that which has been sacrificed to idols. The scriptures do say we can not serve both God and mammon. Money must be a tool we use to advance the Kingdom of God to the Glory of God, not something to spend on our own lusts. God Bless Bows44

But as you point out the truth is that he died for all and all we have to do is believe. 	Dear Doc, I have always believed like you. Sunday I heard a preacher on TV talking about the prophetic days. Then yesterday this scripture was part of the Bible study my son and I were doing, so I was explaining it to him. But as we were discussing the grammer implications of 'as' making it an analogy and mathematically speaking it came up equal. So then I was not certain anymore and wondered if anyone from the prophetic day group had additional scriptural basis for their interpretation. I consider the context in which it is written is basically...Don't worry. God is not bound by time and will not forget His promises. But after our discussion, I could see how the other interpretation could be reached as well. Therefore I was looking for more info. Also I wondered how they handled the creation story, because if one is to say that one day equals one thousand years then I would think that one would have to apply the same logic to the creation story. However, I don't know of anyone from the prophetic day interpretation camp who does not believe in a literal 6 day creation with a 1 day rest making a literal 7 day week. So it seems they have a little bit of a conflict. It would be nice to hear where they are at on this and what other scriptural basis they have for their interpretation. 	Hi Mark, Where in this discussion do you think Jude 1:6 and 2 Peter 2:4 falls? Are the fallen angels currently bound or roaming the earth with Satan causing trouble or restricted to the second heaven blocking answers to prayers? (Dan. 10:13) Who is the Prince of Persia referred to in Dan.? A fallen Angel? Are all fallen angels bound or only ones that sinned through taking on human form and having sexual relations with humans? If bound, how could they possess anyone or rule over areas? 	Dear Forwwjd, Welcome to the forum. You are right. We did get a little off base. For my part, I guess I clouded the Biblical point with personal issues. I repent to all my forum brothers and sisters. The point I was trying to make was... We should be speaking the truth in love and be careful to post only that which we know to be truth (absolute fact) so as not to corrupt our witness of the precious Gospel truths which are so much more important than who did or did not start a cult. Since there is no clear truth on this matter of Mr. Russell that I can find, it should no longer be discussed on this forum. Thank you for reminding us to stay on track. Yours in Christ, Bows44

	Greetings Makarios, I am an artist, but I have not painted any pictures in years. That doesn't mean I am no longer an artist. It just means I haven't used my talent in a few years. I admit the church as a whole is not showing forth the same healing powers that the Bible talks about, but that doesn't mean we don't have the powers. It just means most are not using them. Scripture does not support the discontinuation of healing. What we need to ask ourselves is why aren't we personally laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover, raising the dead, etc. Then seek to grow in those areas until we all come to the unity of faith and grow up into Jesus. If we are not yet perfected, that is not because God has stopped working on or in or through us. It just means we have more growing to do. You don't tell a baby that running is not for them because they have only learned to crawl. You give them time to learn and you encourage and them along the way. Let's give every Christian encouragement and help in growing up into Jesus and being and doing all that God desires for each of us to do. Be blessed and encouraged in your growing, Bows44

	Hank, My interest was purely personal. (See note to Kalos) Thank God, my research so far shows that this man was not in my lineage as he appears to have had no children having taken a vow of celibacy. But had he been, there would be nothing for me to do except forgive him of any wrong doing. Therefore, I am interested in the truth based on a personal interest. I do agree, however, it is nothing to argue over. :-) But I hope you can see why the truth in this case is very important to me. Bows44

	Kalos, I'm not defending anyone. Just trying to share the truth. If one promotes faleshoods, then unbelievers have a hard time believing the truth. We must be careful to post only that which is proven fact. If I am defending anything it is truth. My research shows that there is a descrepancy in the information regarding Mr. Russell. I am just trying to show that there is a descrepancy. Why is it so important for you to finger this man as the founder? Isn't it more important to discuss the falsehoods promoted by JWs and the truth of the Gospel than to get stuck on who did or did not start the cult? Especially when that person is dead and can't speak for himself? It happened to be a little bit of an issue to me as my maiden name is Russell and my father used to work real hard against the JWs when I was growing up. I was researching for personal reasons and chose to share the descrepancy in the info posted by Doc. I happen to trust the Wikepedia since they don't have an agenda and just try to give out as accurate information as possible without bias. Personally, I really don't care what you or anyone else believes about Mr. Russell. It certainly isn't worth arguing over. So why don't we just drop it? O.K.? Hope this helps, Bows44

	Makarios, I have been following this discussion and would like to jump in with a few thoughts as this subject is very near and dear to my heart. You see, I minister in the Healing Rooms sponsored by my church. Every week people come to us from all over, even from out of state, to get prayer. I have seen many people touched by the power of God and healed in many ways...physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. We at the healing rooms constantly pray and study to become as proficient as Jesus. Sometimes people are healed instantly, sometimes they are healed by the next day, sometimes weeks later, sometimes through the hands of doctors and sometimes through what I consider the ultimate healing...stepping into the light of eternity. There are many reasons why some don't get healed as we expect, but that doesn't mean that Jesus doesn't heal today. I believe it is Jesus who does the healing through us. We are the body of Christ. It is his hands that touch the people through our's. We do not take any of the Glory for ourselves, but give it to God. There were some who Jesus didn't heal becasue of lack of faith. ( Matt. 13:58) Jesus did not heal everyone at the pool of Bethseda, only the one. Jesus certainly had the power. Why didn't he? Today we can't just go to hospitals and empty them out. I want to, but from speaking with my Pastor about it, I was informed of hospital rules. You can't just walk in and start praying for people. You have to be invited by the person or the person's family. Earlier you said something about Jesus healing, the apostles healing and the others who are mentined in the Bible as having a gift exclusive to themselves. You stated that today healing is wrought through the Holy Spirit. True, it is the Holy Spirit who heals and I believe it always has been. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus after being baptised was full of the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:1), in Luke 9:1-2 the twelve were sent out on Jesus' Authority, same for the 70/72 sent out; after Jesus' resurrection he breathed on the disciples and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." Many Old Testament characters were filled with the Spirit of God or the Spirit came on them to do mighty works. These scriptures tell me that it is the power of the Holy Spirit that heals and performs miracles. So everyone who is filled with the Holy Spirit and believes should be able to lay their hands on the sick and see them recover. The more I grow in my understanding of this principle, the greater the success rate I personally have. Why isn't everyone healed? Some don't believe, some don't really want to becasue to be healed would mean they would have to work again and only come for prayer on the insistance of family or friends, others are in sin and won't repent, still others are required first to do something like Naman the leaper who God required to bathe seven times in the Jordon, still others God wishes to bring healing through the hands of doctors for various reasons. These are just a few reasons, but none is because Jesus has stopped healing people. Hope this helps, Bows44

	Hi BradK, I believe all scripture has some application to us today. This one I see as not only explaining how sin entered the world, but is a lesson to us on lust and pride leading to sin. saw that the tree was good for food...lust of the flesh it was a delight to the eyes...lust of the eye desirable to make one wise...pride of life The following scripture also speaks to this: 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. So when we lust after something not meant for us and/or have pride it will be with us as with Eve. We will eat the fruit of disobedience and will encourage others to do so as well. This will open the door in our lives to many undesirable things lest we repent quickly. Just my point of view. :-) Blessings, Bows44

Apparantly, I am having a hard time explaining it to Lil Kea13. I meant to respond to this post as being a duplicate, but my computer crashed, then I had to cook dinner, mow the lawn, and have family time. 	Hi Damondash, When you heard that minister say he was going to make a follower an armor bearer, he was more than likely referring to spiritually. A spiritual armor bearer covers the person in prayer and helps them in the ministry. I know many traveling ministers who use spiritual armor bearers. The armor bearer travels with them and helps them with what ever is needed for the minister to discharge his duties, including (but not limited to) prayer cover before and during meetings, resource table sales, carrying luggage and ministry materials, making travel arrangements, and being a confidant. Armor bearers today can be referred to as assistants. Most ministers need assistants. Sometimes the person who fills that role is the spouse, other times it is a trusted friend or follower of the same gender as the minister. In this sense, Jesus had armor bearers or assistants. The disciples filled this role, especially Peter, James and John. They helped with different aspects of Jesus' ministry. One example is preparing the upper room for passover. Hope this helps, Bows44

	Dear Starfire, I am glad that my thoughts have helped you and your willingness to discuss this issue openly for the benefit of others. As Mark pointed out, Eve had probably not had children yet, but if there had been no sin things would have been easier. I know a few women today who claim that based on Gal 3:13 they have been redeemed from the curse and have very little pain in bearing children. Also, no menstrual cramps or PMS, and some ladies I know have had no menopausal symptoms either by claiming this promise. So maybe that is a glimpse of womanhood without the curse?
