|Thanks for your response Newlump. One of the tragic areas for me is that the political system is set to silence true free speach under false pretenses. Take the laws on anti discrimination. In the end they only discriminate against Christian belief. Here in Australia we christians are to be tolerant of all other religions even to the point of changing our normal customs to accommodate other beliefs. The reverse is not true. Other religions are wanting the Christians to change but not them. Consider the UK where the calander is being changed so as not to offed the Muslims. Is the answer to such trends for christians to become political active or active in voicing their convictions without condesenation?
The world is not a new stage for Christ as the first century was. This is not to say Christs power is diminished but the setting for the gospel is.
What do you think?

|Dear Forum, The intent of my question was to try to stimulate some thinking regarding what is happening in the modern church. Moderism ia a concept that things are based upon what we can empirically verify. Post modernism seeks to deconstruct this. Such an attitude of modrenism exists in the medical sphere but their ethics is about post modernism. Mayor ethical decisions are starting to be made without any reference points at all. The church is backing away from the debate because the issuse are too big and hard for us to deal with.
One of the reasons for such postion is that we will not become aquainted with the issues and frame strong biblcal responses.
Most of the society see advances in science to be beyond their control. Let the experts deal with them. But as schaffer warned the more we hand over to the experts the more we quieten the truth.
Are we as a church being tricked into silence be the confusion that a post modernism approach seeks to create. The result is that no voice will be heard for the right except in our own excluisive circles.
I would welcome comments.
