1 Searching for the truth Ps 34:11 physics guy 97789
I think it is natural for us to want to live forever. That is part of the reason that we become christians.
pls. 34:11-13. whoever loves life and would see good days? I think that covers everyone. Part of death is the fear of the unknown. We don't really know we've kept the faith, run the good race(2Tim4:7-8), etc. until God says well done God and faithful servant(Matt 25:21).
Also, the sad reality is that the vast majority of those we love here, won't be with us in heaven(the road is very narrow).
2 How to love neighbors we don't like Mark 12:31 physics guy 97784
It really isn't a matter of learning to love them. God can give us a pure heart Ps 51:10.
God wants us not just to obey him, but to love him(Matt 22:34-38). We have the mind of Christ(1Cor2:16). So in a very real way, both our love for God, and God's presence in our lives should help us to love everyone, because we know that God wants them to be saved, and sees them as sheep without a shepard, and our heart is to see them saved as well.
People may seem so different to you. I have a bunch of friends that are addicted to drugs, were teenage mothers, attempted suicide etc. They all have this in common-their trying to fill there lives with things that they think will fill the void that only God can. Don't try to just see the obvious needs, or the symptoms, but the cause. Matt 9:2-5. Jesus seen the man's need for his sins forgiven, I bet everyone else would see his need to be able to walk. Jesus gave him what he needed most first, than worried about the rest of the guy's problems. Hope this helps.
3 none Acts 2:42 physics guy 97783
Very hard question to answer completely, because there is so many ways for sin to be present. But I'll try to answer what a church should have without a doubt.
For an overview look at Acts 2:42-47, fellowship, prayer, meeting needs, preaching, growing in numbers.
Love for one another John 13:34-35. You can't even claim to be a christian if it isn't obvious to everyone from your love for each other.
Encourage one another daily(very hard to find a church like this today) Hebrews 10:25. Doesn't mean you need to live in church. Just that you meet with each other, and are in each others live's helping each other to be Godly.
Unity 1Cor 12:12-27. Also note 1Cor 12:28-31. A holy church has different parts working together. The church isn't the minister or the building. The church is every christian doing his part.
Preaching and teaching Matt 28:18-20. Everyone is called to this if they are christian. Go and save the lost, then teach them to obey what Christ has taught. Again it is clear that you are ment to be in each others lives.
There needs to be a minister preaching the word to the lost, but there also needs to be teaching and training in how to study the bible with others, how to have righteous dating relationships etc etc. In all aspects of life, we need to live like God would have us. 1 Pet 1:13-16 and 2:11-12.
Bible centered. 2 Tim 3:16-17. The bible prepares us for every good work. If your taught doctrines that aren't biblical need to ask yourself way. Traditions by themselves aren't bad, but if they get in the way of God's commands they have to go. Matt 15:1-9.
Christ centered. Christ is the head of the body Eph 4:15, 5:23.
Hope this gives you some idea of the characteristics of the church. Note that God came to build one church, there isn't a holy church , and some other churches. There is one church, and the others are not really churches at all. Scary thought, but biblical. Rom 12:4-5, 1Cor 10:17, 12:12-13, Eph 4:25 etc.
4 Wake up in hell Heb 9:27 physics guy 97771
Actually I think this could be a pretty deep question. It is mentioned in several places that believers will be given a new body for example 1 Cor 15:12-58. However, I can't think of a statement that a non-believer will be resurrected in physical form.
This of course leads to at least two options. One that they don't get the resurrection from the dead because they haven't become one with Christ in death(through baptism) and so won't be one with Christ in resurrection to a new life. The other being that they will be resurrected.
Now if resurrected in bodily form, do they get a perfect body like we are promised, or just the same old one? Either way like Makarios said, the disease will probably have died with them the first time(remember non-christians get the unenviable oppurtunity to experience the 'second death'). But the effects of the disease, like damaged flesh, loss of an eye etc. may still be present.
Unfortunately, I think hell will be so infinitely worse than any disease that it won't make much difference to those that go there wether the are suffering form cancer or the flu or something as well as from the usual goodies that hell has to offer.
You know the saying desperate times calls for desperate measures? I think that we need to be desperate to be with God, and desperate to bring as may people as we can with us. See Acts 2:36-41. Note how desperate the hearers were to learn how to be saved? People need someone to show them the way, the question I guess is that person going to be you?(of course you need to find the way yourself if your not sure how)
5 Is satan just symbolic? Ezek 28:12 physics guy 97770
My opinion is that there are enough clear mentions of Satan as a physical 'someone' that a strict reading of the bible won't allow the interpretation that Satan is just a general accuser or advisary.
We are told that he uses flaming arrows against us(Eph 6:16), that he asked God permission to tempt Job(Job 1:6-12), that he lead a revolt in heaven that lead to 1/3 of the angels being cast out of heaven(Rev 12:1-9(there is a more clear statement of this but I can't remember where it is)), etc. Also, if Satan is not real who was the advisary in the garden that lead to man's fall?
I'm not sure where the idea that Satan doesn't exist has come into the church. Perhaps it is from more liberal readings of the bible, or from attempts to please non-christians. For example people say stuff like Satan is christianities boogieman that is supposed to make you follow it's teaching, or that God is just waiting for us to mess up with a thunderbolt in hand.
I personally believe that Satan is real, but gets a lot of his power from our free choice not to do what God wants. God took a big risk giving mankind free will. He gave us the ability to chose to worship Him(which is really the only way He could have true worship) but also the ability to chose not to worship Him.
So way does evil exist? In a perfect universe where no one sinned and hell were empty they would be no need for God's grace in sending Christ to the cross on our behalf. Love, faith, and wisdom all demand that we act on them(James 2). In a strange way God needed an imperfect world so that His love and wisdom would be declared, and He would get the praise that He deserves.
God created the universe and said that it was good(Gen 1). He also created Satan, and still he said it was good!? Satan fullfills a useful role in the universe to test and accuse, and in so doing prove genuine our faith(1 Pet 1:6-7). With out cowardess, courage wouldn't be impressive, with out evil a good life would be unremarkable, and I put to you without Satan and hell, God and heaven wouldn't be the longing of people's hearts.
