|1||What is the basis of Psalms 109-110?||Luke 24:44||humility||222614|
|Although the Psalms were real life situations David encountered, they were also shadows and prophesies about the Messiah (Jesus) and His kingdom which was to come in the future. Jesus told the jews of his day that the scriptures they claimed to live by, testified of Him. (John 5:38-40)|

|The dead was the same place they are now minmay, in he grave awaiting the resurrection. Here are some more scripture references, Job 14:10-15; John 5:28-29.|
|3||Should "lost" people come to church?||Luke 5:31||humility||218653|
I liken the Kingdom of God unto an Hospital. We, as believers, are God's doctors and nurses. Responsible for the nourishment of the sin-sicked souls around us. Whether they be family members, friends or whoever! Sometimes by a doctor or nurse rubbing shoulder and fellowshipping with a patient, it opens that patients heart and mind toward the things pertaning to good health. They may learn that six to eight glasses of water might be better than eight glasses of soda a day. A patient who recognizes that he's sick and in need of a Physician could easily be nursed into perfect health. Even patients who don't really understand the seriousness of their condition, by having good doctors and nurses as friends is like a man finding treasure hidden in a field. (1 Cor 9:19-27)
|4||Is there an unforgiveable sin?||Bible general Archive 4||humility||216352|
|Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable sin. Why? Because the Holy Spirit is our teacher, our sanctification, our comforter, and our glorification. If we ignore Him, then how else could we glorify God? Matt 12:30-33, John 16:13-14, John 14:26, Ephesians 4:30-32|
|5||Did Jesus ever drink wine?||Matt 11:19||humility||215927|
|What is God's view on alcoholic concumption? "Wine is a mocker and strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." (Prov 20:1)
How can we be sure that the wine Jesus used at Passover (Lord's Supper) was non-alcoholic? It was a strict law of God that at the time of Passover all leaven or fermented articles were to be removed from the house. Fermentation and Leaven is a sign of corruption. The wine used at Passover was distinctly a symbol of Christ's blood, shed to establish the new covenant. He will drink of the same kind of new wine with His redeemed in the kingdom of heaven where decomposition and fermentation will never occur.
What is the effect of drinking alcoholic beverages? "Who has woe, who has sorrow, who has contentions, who has babblings, who has wounds without cause, who has redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine" "At last it bites like a serpent, and it stings like an adder" (Prov.23:29,30).
Why were kings prohibited the use of strong drink? "It is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes strong drink; lest they drink and forget the law and pervert the judgement of any of the afflicted" (Prov.31:4,5).
Why were priests prohibited the use of strong drink? "And the Lord spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine or strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation,...that ye may put a difference between holy and unholy, and between clean and unclean" (Lev.10:8-10,cf.Ezek.44:21).
What two titles does God give to His redeemed people? "Kings and Priests. See 1 Pet.2:6,9; Rev.1:5,6. True Christians are spiritual kings and priests, washed in the blood of Christ and enlisted into His service as royal ambassadors. They have perpetual access by His Spirit into the heavenly sanctuary. (2 Cor.5:18-20; Heb.10:19-23)
How did Daniel respond to the temptation to drink wine at the king's court in Babylon? Dan.1:8-20. He refused it, but drank water instead. In consequence he was blessed with superior health and mental ability.
Will alcoholics who continue to drink have a favorable destiny? "Be not deceived...drunkards...will not inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor.6:9,10 cf. 1 Cor.5:11; Gal.5:19-21)
What kind of wine is acceptable and wholesome? "The new wine found in the cluster, destroy it not...for a blessing is in it." "The pure blood of the grape" (Isa 65:8; Deut 32:14). It is medicinal, non-alcoholic. 1 Tim.5:23.
What source of inspiration does God want for us instead of fermented wine? "Be not drunk with wine wherein is excess, but be filled with the Holy Spirit." (Eph.5:18;cf.Acts 2:1-18)
"Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Cor.10:
Although not the normal drink of the day, intoxicating wine (old wine) did exist in Bible times, and in every case they received unfavorable references. Just look up "strong drink" in your Bible concordance or use the search bar on the right side of the Forum's web page. Here are some additional references you could look up. (Ps.60:3, Isa.5:22, Isa.28:7-8, Jer.25:15, Hab.2:5,15. Ps.58:4, Prov.4:16,17)
God bless you, and I hope this helps you.
|6||Does God lead us to sin?||James 1:13||humility||215856|
|Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted of God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust is conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. (James 1:13-15)|
|7||Resurrection Day, not easter!||Exodus||humility||215229|
|While I do agree that Easter has a pagan origin, I cannot agree that the resurrection day of our lord is a holy day, (according to Jesus). It's "man's" holy day, not God. Jesus calls one day of the week holy, and that's His Sabbath day, which is the seventh day of the week. Gen 2:2-3, Exodus 20:8-11, Matt 12:8, Mark 2:27-28, Luke 23:56. Sunday sacredness is a Roman Catholic's defyance of holy scriptures. The Romans worshiped many gods, therefore, all the days of the week, and the majority of what we call holidays (ie. Holy-days), were named by pagans, sunday was named after the sun god, monday was named after the moon god, wednesday was named after the planet venus, and saturday was named after saturn. If you do some research, you would find that the Catholics admits to changing God's fourth commandment during a time known as the dark ages. Many Christians are ignorant to these things that happened in early church history. I'll give you another truth, Christmas is a joining together of two words, Christ and Mass, and Halloween was named in "honor" of the day before the roman pagans "hallowed" or worshiped all their dead saints, it was first called "All Hallowed Eve". Christians who go to church on sunday don't really understand that they are breaking God's fourth commandment, but Jesus said if you break one, you break all. (James 2:10-12)|
|8||Why not shorn or shaven for the woman?||1 Cor 11:6||humility||215222|
|When we read the Bible, we have to take 4 things into consideration. (1) Who wrote the letter, (2) Who did He write the letter to. (3) Why did He write the letter or what was the problem. (4) Understand the cultures and traditions of the people during that time. Undrestanding all that is vital when it comes to studying the Bible, that way, it's impossible to be confused, especially if we pray, asking the for the Holy Spirit, (who inspired these writers), to be our helper. Now in Paul's day, a hair covering for a woman, would be what a wedding ring is to us today. It showed that that woman was married. It showed virtue on a woman's behalf. A woman's hair was also her beauty. (1 Cor 11:15) I personally believe a woman's hair is still her beauty today. Her taking off her "head-covering", would be like my wife taking off her wedding ring, it was a sign of disrespect to her husband and to God, according to their tradition. (1 Cor 11: 13). They took this stuff serious back then.
Even so, If my wife was to stop wearing her wedding ring at church or in public, I would like to know what's wrong. Lol! So in the same way, the principle of reverence and respect between spouses in the marriage still applys to us today, the only thing that is different now, is the culture, it's not the head-covering no more, it's the ring. I expect my wife be proud to show off her wedding ring, it's just another way of letting me and the world know how much she loves me. Whatever I do, it affects her, whatever she do, affects me, whether it be good or bad. Although the ring is'nt that big of a deal, I still love to see her wear it, it also let's the other guys know she's mine. All mine! Lol! Unfortunately, Paul had to teach these women how they ought to carry themselves in public and in the sanctuary. We see also in verse 4, vice versa, if a man be praying or prophesying with his head covered, he dishonered his head (which is Chist). This principle still applys us in some ways too, because even in our culture today, we take off our caps before we pray, before we eat, when we go to church we go without our caps. Some women love to wear hats when they dress, others let their gorgeous hair show as a covering. I also agree with Paul in verse 14, I believe a man should have his hair neatly cut and groomed rather than have it long all the way down his back like the way females do. I don't think that's being masculine on a man's behalf. When fellas grow long hair, sometimes it's kinda hard to tell whether they're male or female. That's why Paul admonishes the people to let their own consciences be their guide. (verse 13) I hope this helps you out in some way, @nohunt.
|9||Why not braided hair for women?||1 Tim 2:9||humility||215220|
|There we're some women in Paul's day who were not very modest. These women lacked the character that the holy women in old times possessed. The women in old times trusted whole-heartedly in God, and was totally submissive to their husbands.(1 Peter 3:1-6) But not in Paul's day, as you can see in verses 10 and 11 of 1 Timothy. They was loud and disruptive during church services. They even dressed the way the harlots of that era would dress. Paul was not against the plaiting of the hair like we do today, what had happened was, the women would braid their hair with pieces of gold, as decoration, running all through it. They would wear expensive, tight-fitted and skimpy clothing as well. The only women, in Paul's day, who would put on this kind of show, was the harlots (prostitutes) and the women of the world. Paul not only addressed this issue in Timothy's church, He also addressed this issue in the church at Corinth. (1 Cor 11) Sad to say, alot of Christians today, (men and women) ignore these admonitions as well, applying these principles to "Paul's era", and not for us. Some of us focus a little too much on the outward adornment as well, when, what is really precious in the sight of God, is the hidden man of the heart, "ornaments" of a meek and quiet spirit. The Prince of this world is using his people to transform some of us instead of the other way around.|
|10||Should women wear mens' clothes?||Deut 22:5||humility||215219|
|Should a man wear a hat to shield his face from the sun? Should a man wear sunglasses to protect his eyes from the sun's light rays? Should a man wear a jacket to protect him from the cold? Should a man wear pants to cover his nakedness? If your answer is yes, then apply these same principles to the opposite sex. Should a man wear women's panties? Should a man wear a bra? Should a woman wear men's jockey (briefs)? I think not!
There's a principle behind every one of God's laws. It's not what you wear, but rather, WHY you wear it that determines whether it's a sin or not. Some women wear pants because it's necessary for the type of job they may have. Some wear it when exercising. It depends on the occasion. Jesus said judge not according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgement. However, that only comes by spending time with our lawgiver, Jesus Christ.
|11||Life in the power of the tounge.||NT general||humility||215192|
|LOl! This question really made me laugh at first, but when I looked at it a little longer, I saw how serious it really is. The Holy Spirit immediately put this text into my mind, (Romans 10:15), it says "How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!" Now if I were to interpret verse 15 in the same way you interpret verse 9, I guess I could say, only those who have "FEET" are chosen by God to preach the gospel. I have one question for you (walkforchrist). If you had a child who was born dumb ie, (lacking the power of speech), what would you say to me if I was to say to you, "You will never really know if this child really loves you." I'm sure your response would be, "Well, why do you say that?" And I respond by saying, "Well, how could you or anybody know for sure, unless the child opens it's mouth and says to you, "I love you"? How would you feel? Especially if you really love that child and have an intimate relationship with him/her? When the child is hungry, he/she cries. When the child has a dirty diaper, it cries. When he/she is happy, it smiles from ear to ear. Parents, especially mothers, have a God-given instinct that lets them know how to nurture and care for their kids without them being able to talk. That smile alone lets them know, "Hey! my child is happy". Even though that parent knows that there is a possibility that their child would never be able to speak, their child would still be able to kiss them, hug them, cook for them, help out with the chores, basically, anything besides answering the phone. Without that child being able to say anything, his/her works or actions will show exactly who they really are. The same thing with a Christian, our works show who we really are on the inside. God knows each and everyone of His children in a personal and special way, even though we might be deaf, dumb, blind, lame, retarded, rich, poor, black or white! We could preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to our friends and family members without being able to utter one word! Thats the power of God! Jesus said "By this will all men know that ye are my disciples, if you have love one toward the other. (John 13:35) Not just by saying it, although being able to say it would be better, but God loves all His children the same. Many Christians today could "talk-the-talk" but hav'nt gat the slightest idea of what "walking-the-walk" truly means. I'd rather be dumb, and have a faithful and prosperous walk with God, than to be in a perfect physical condition, yet, still, a sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal in the sight of God!|

|I believe it's a bribe Rajeeb. What I think you should do is wait for them to ask you for something, then give it to them. You could even give them the gifts AFTER THEY HAVE SOLD THE MEDICINE, that'll be your way of saying thank you. It would'nt look as if you were cohersing the situation either way. (2 Corinthians 9:7)|
|14||Does satan already know he is defeated?||Matt 8:29||humility||214573|
|Surely, Satan knows that He has been defeated, He knows what the Bible says and He knows who Jesus is! After Adam and Eve gave into his temptation, God prophesied unto Satan (the serpent) what shall be His final outcome in Gen 3:14-15. Jesus (who represents the "Seed",(Galtians 3:15-16) of the woman (Mary)) against Satan and his "seed" (the wicked),they bruised Him (his heel) at the cross but He rose three days later and bruised Satan's head when He resurrected early that Sunday morning! Satan know's what happened at the cross was the fulfillment of the first prophecy and many other Bible prophecies found in the writings of Moses, The Psalms, Isaiah and all the other prophets used by God. That's why they called the hill where Jesus was crucified, Golgotha (the place of a skull), because that's where He crushed Satan's skull for all of us. Jesus took the keys of death and hell from Satan that very same day! All we have to do is reach out and accept this precious gift of salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ and the kingdom of heaven is ours for ever! That's why Satan is working overtime to destroy the faith and lives many! He hates everything and everyone that God has created. He knows that He only has but a short time before Jesus comes for His children. (Rev 12:7-12). That's why He uses false christs and false prophets in the last days to deceive as possible even God's chosen people. (Matt 24:24)|
|15||Buddha statue in a house of a christian.||Bible general Archive 4||humility||214384|
|Dear Chumba, I'm a christian, and I carry an empty bottle of an extremely high alcoholic substance around in my back pack everytime I go to work. To the carnally minded person, the first thing that would come to mind if they were to see that, would be, "He's a drunkard" or "He's a sinner". But to the spiritually minded person, they look beyond the bottle and get to know me. And by doing that, they find out "Why" I carry the bottle around in my back-pack. I take the bottle around just in case the topic of drinking alcoholic beverages is right or wrong based on God's word. So Chumba, it's not really the question of whether it's right for a christian to have a statue of Buddha in his or her house, it's "Why does he or she have it?" Jesus said, "Judge not according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgement". Romans chapter 14 is another way of finding truth about this matter.|

|Jesus answered this question in Johns gospel chapter 5:28-29. Paul answered it later in His first epistle to church in Thessalonica. It's found in chapter 4:13-18. Both scripture references support the fact that Jesus knew, as well as the apostle, Paul, that death is just a sleep in the graves until the second-coming of Christ.|
