|1||finally, my dear friends, be glad that||Philippians||TheCurtMan000||183821|
|We are to rejoice and take pride in our relationship with Christ.
v3) For we who worship God in the Spirit are the only ones who are truly circumcised. We put no confidence in human effort. Instead, we boast about what Christ Jesus has done for us.
We are warned against those who walk contary to biblical teaching and are given the characteristics of such.
v18) For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemines of the cross of Christ. v19) Their future is eternal destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and all they think about is this life here on earth.
|2||Do animals have souls and go to heaven?||Gen 2:7||TheCurtMan000||183782|
|I once asked my pastor the same question. His reply was 'no, animals will not go to heaven. Animals do not have a living soul'. Man was created in the image of God, Gen. 1:26. In Gen. 2:7 scripture spicifically states that God breath into man the breath of life and we became a living soul. This process was not followed during the creation of animals.|
|3||Significance to Tree of Life?||Gen 2:9||TheCurtMan000||183642|
|I'm sorry that I didn't make myself clear in my previous answer. The point that I was trying to make is that one tree bought life, the other tree bought death. God was looking for obedience and what he got was disobedience. And one of the lessons to be learned is that there are always consequences to the decisions that we make.|
|4||Significance to Tree of Life?||Gen 2:9||TheCurtMan000||183640|
|It's to my understanding that the Tree of Life did just that, gave the eater longer lasting life. This is one of the reason why God expeled Adam and Eve from the garden. If Adam and Eve had eaten from the Tree of Life after eating from the Tree of Knowledge, they would probably still be alive today. Think about it, hanging out in the 21st Century, where depending on where you go we have legalized Abortion; Prostitution; Gambling; Homosexuality. We turn our noses up at large number of killings on a daily basis, child pornogaphy and self centerness. Instead of teaching our children about the ways of God, we teach them how to sit down and be quiet in front of the Television Set. Adam and Eve would witness all of this. And they would know that they're the cause of all this. Adam and Eve, they knew perfection at it's best, they walked with God in the garden, and to see where we have come to tsday would probably lay a guilt trip on them that no man should have to bear. The tree of Life gave life, that was what it was ment to do.
Then the Lord God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand and take also from the tree of Life, and eat, and live forever". 23) Therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden...
|5||Will this get posted?||Prov 22:6||TheCurtMan000||183467|
|Your point, however strongly made, was well taken. If I've said anything in my answer to you that contributed to your anguish, then I apologize. I assure you that it was not intentional.
God is the author of his word. He's not going to say anything in it that's not true. And His word is used for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives; for correcting faults, and teaching how to live correctly. It is not used for degrading, belittling or beating one over the head with. Is this how you honestly feel?? And if so, could it possibly be a misunderstanding?? More importantly, could reconcilitation be sought??
|6||Educational guarantee for life and godli||Prov 22:6||TheCurtMan000||183436|
|Solomon had something that David did not have. A great deal of wisdom given to him by God.
I Kings 3:11-12 (ICB) God said to him, 'You did not ask for a long life. And you did not ask for riches for yourself. You did not ask for the death of your enemies. Since you asked for wisdom to make the right decisions, 12.) I will give you what you asked. I will give you wisdom and understanding. Your wisdom will be greater than anyone has had in the past. And there will never be anyone in the future like you.
It'll be safe to say that the wisdom in Proverbs 22:6 came form God. If God's word states that if you train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it, then you can believe it to be so. However; please note that the scripture doesn't say that occassionally we won't stumble. It says when we are old we will not depart from it. What is old?? There could be a great many years between being a child and being old.
If Solomon strayed from the path of righteousness, the question is: Did David raise Solomon the way that Solomon should go?? David had two major problems raising his children. 1.) David was a man of War. He fought a many wars. I would think that it would be difficult to fight those wars and to raise a child at the same time. One of the two will go lacking, David and his Mihgty Men were no joke!!
David's second problem could be found in:
II Samuel 12:7 (ICB) Then Nathan said to David, 'You are the man!. This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: I appointed you king of Israel. I saved you from Saul. I gave you his kingdom and his wives. And I made you king of Israel and Judah. And if that had not been enough, I would have given you even more. So why did you ignore the Lord's command? Why did you do what he says is wrong? You killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword of the Ammonites! And you took his wife to become your wife! So there will .always be people in your family who will be killed by a sword. This is because you showed that you did not respect me! And you took the wife of Uriah the Hittite! This is what the Lord says! I am bringing trouble to you from your own family. While you watch, I will take your wives from you. And I will give them to someone who is very close to you. He will have sexual relations with your wives, and everyone will know it.'
David's trouble was coming from his own household. I think that it was his son Absalom who slept with David's wives. I know it was Absalom who tried to de-throne his ole man and claim his crone. Solomon, well he just went out in left field altogether. This does not sound like children who was raised in the way that they should go. David was a man after God's own heart, he just fell a little short of being the perfect father.
The good news is there is no contradiction in Proverbs 22:6. For we all have sinned, and we will continue to fall short of the glory of God on occassions, but a true Christian will get back up and try it again. Even the prodical son came back home, why?? Because he knew better.
|7||What do we focus on?||1 Cor 12:13||TheCurtMan000||183433|
|Wonderful point of view. Personally I believe if the entire body of Christ had that perspective we'd make for a much better witness. For me, however; I tend to try and focus on the entire glass, it helps to keep me balanced. However; there are times when I spend too much time focusing on the negative, and visea-versa. Would you say being unbalanced in either direction a good thing or bad thing?|
|8||How will Jesus come back to earth?||Rev 1:7||TheCurtMan000||183397|
|Acts 1:9-11 (ICB) After he said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up. A cloud hid him from their sight. 10) As he was going, they were looking into the sky. Suddenly, two men wearing white clothes stood beside them. 11)They said,'Men of Galilee, why are you standing here looking into the sky? You saw Jesus taken away from you into heaven. He will come back in the same way you saw him go'.
Matthew 24:29 Soon after the trouble of those days, this will happen: The sun will grow dark and the moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from the sky, and everything in the sky will be changed. 30)At that time, there will be something in the sky that shows the Son of Man is coming. All the people of the world will cry. They will see the Son of Man coming on clouds in the sky. He will come with great power and glory.
|9||why should we pray and speak in tongues||Bible general Archive 3||TheCurtMan000||183346|
|Prayer is a requirement. In Luke 18:1 and 21:36 Jesus is saying that man should always pray.
Speaking in tongues is a Spiritual Gift. Not every Christian have every Spiritual Gift, but every Christian is required to pray.
|10||who are jehovahs witnesses||Bible general Archive 3||TheCurtMan000||183305|
|The difference between a Christian and a Jehovah's Witness is our belief system. I'll give you three examples and will be quoting from two different bibles. The King James Bible, which most christians are familiar with, and the New World Translation, which is the Jehovah's Witnesses Bible. Since all things started with Christ, so will I.
John 1:1 (KJV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. This verse is believed by many as saying that Jesus Christ, the Word, IS God. The (NWT) quotes this verse as such:
John 1:1 (NWT) In the beginning the Word was and the Word was with God, and the Word is a god. Now notice, 'a god'. Jesus Christ isn't The God, but he's a god. A big difference. One of my biggest questions has always been, “If Jesus is the Word of God, and is a god, does that make him a true god of a false god?” If he is a true god, then Jehovah was mistaken because in Isaiah 43:10 he says,
Isa. 43:10 (NWT) 'You are my witnesses', declares the Lord, 'and my servant whom I have chosen, In order that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am He. Before me there was no God and there will be none after me.
Howerver; if Jesus is a false god, and he is the Word of God....they have a name for people who say things that are not true.
Another example of the differences of belief can be seen in Colossians 1:16-17
Colossians 1:16-17 (KJV) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him and for him 17) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
In short order, Christ created ALL THINGS; EVERYTHING; across the board, and it is because of him that all things holds together.
Colossians 1:16-17 (NWT) because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordship or governments or authorities All [other] things have been created through him and for him, 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist.
Now please note that in this verse, Christ didn't create all things, he created all other things. The important thing to notice is that the word other has brackets around it. Why?? Because in 1961 The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society lost a court case on this verse. According to the ruling of that case, any word added to the bible that is not in the original text must have brackets around it. The word 'other' is not in the original document. The word 'other' added four different times to this verse changes the meaning of this verse. Christ did not create all 'other' things, he created EVERYTHING. At least most Christians believe that. I'm one of them.
So you see, there many difference between our belief systems. Most Christians believe that the Jehovah Witnesses are a cult, and the Jehovah Witnesses believe that when Christians pray, we pray to the devil. Try asking a Jehovah Witness if you can pray for them.
|11||Gen 19:16||Gen 19:16||TheCurtMan000||183277|
|If you don't mind, I'd like to offer a point of view. First of all I don't know WHY Lot hesitated. I do know that everthing that he owned, all his personal possessions was about to go up in smoke. I mean he's abiding by the custom of the day, he see two strangers and offer them shelter for the night. Now every male in the city is banging on his door wanting a piece of them. He tries to defuse the situation by offering up his daughters. Now the strangers are telling him he got to leave town because the place is about to be destroyed. And to add insult to injury, the in-laws to-be had the nerve to be laughing. What, they thought this was a joke?!
Personally I think that maybe the events of the evening was moving just a little too fast for Lot. Lot had alot to loose, and loose everthing he did. For most of us, I think that hesitation would have be a natural reaction.
|12||Seeing God's face, no one has seen God?||John 1:18||TheCurtMan000||183275|
|You know, if your students are anything like mine, you're also going to have to deal with Jacob who claimed to have seen God face to face. In Jacob's case however; he had wrestled an angel. In Moses' case, I've always understood that to be a figure of speach. Like buddy to buddy; pal to pal; man to man, like that. God spoke to Moses as one friend would to another.
Exodus 33:11(ICB)The lord spoke to Moses face to face as a man speakes with his friend.....
Continue to read down to the 18th verse, "Then Moses said, 'Now please show me your greatness'. 19)The Lord answered, 'I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you. I will announce my name, the Lord, so you can hear it. I will show kindness to anyone I want to show kindness. I will show mercy to anyone I want to show mercy. But you cannot see my face. No one can see me and stay alive'"
Moses managed to get out of the tent alive and relay the story. Therefore it would be safe to assume that he did not see God face to face. Spoke to God face to face yes, but scripture doesn't say that no man has spoken to God, it says that no man has seen God.
|13||caring for one another in the body of ch||Phil 2:5||TheCurtMan000||183236|
|God gave ten commandments. The first 4 or 5 deals with our relationship with him. The rest however; deals with our relationship with one another. Philip. 2:5-8 kind of stipulates that we should have the mind of Christ and love one another to the point of death. My thoughts on caring for one another in the body of Christ is this: Do so at all cost, just be wise at HOW you do it.|
|14||YOUR ATTITUDE SHOULD BE THE SAME AS CHRI||Phil 2:5||TheCurtMan000||183234|
|Philp.2:5-8 (ICB) In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus. 6.) Christ himself was like God in everything. He was equal with God. But he did not think that being equal with God was something to be held on to. 7.) He gave up his place with God and made himself nothing. He was born to be a man and became like a servant. 8.) And when he was living as a man, he humbled himself and was fully obedient to God. He obeyed even when that caused his death-death on the cross.
In short order, we should be like Christ, and be obedient to God no matter what the price, no matter what our status in life is. Jesus Christ was equal with God. He created this whole universe and everything in it, and yet he came out of heaven and washed the feet of man, he came down here to be an example of how we should live. We should be obedient to God, and we should love on another. This is what Christ did, this is how we should be.
|15||GOD Jealous||Ex 20:3||TheCurtMan000||182983|
|Yes, you will be making God jealous. In the Old Testiment, within the book of Exodus (2nd book of the bible) Chapter 20, starting at verse 3, God said (I'm quoting this from the International Childrens Bible), "You must not have any other gods except me. 4)You must not make for yourselves any idols. Don't make for yourself anything that looks like something in the sky above or on the earth below or in the water below the land. 5)You must not worship or serve any idol. This is because I, the Lord your God am a jealous God. A person may sin against me and hate me. I will punish his children, even his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 6)But I will be very kind to thousands who love me and obey my commands." As stated by Kalos, 2nd Timothy 2:5 is also a good verse to look into. So no saints, no images and no idols. If you'd like to discuse this further in detail, my email is: TheCurtMan000@Aol.Com|
|16||Virgin Mary||Ex 20:2||TheCurtMan000||182943|
|1.) Should we worship Mary? NO!! Pretty much for the reason that you stipulated. 2.) Can the devil use Mary's image? Of Course. Scripture tells how he has used animals, fallen angels, illusions and many other tricks in the book to 'distract God's people'. 3.) God's disappointment in us? Any particular reason you believe that God isn't disappointed in the fallen state of Man? He flooded the earth; Talked about killing the children of Israel; and will watch His Son go to war with His creation because we will dare take up arms against the Savior of the world. But Glory be to God that mankind will not be judged collectively, but individually. Individually speaking, God isn't disappointed in all of us. His people, His church, His redeemed, have our sins cover over by the blood of the lamb. Any particular reason why you asked three questions that you seem to already know the answer to??|
|It's amazing how identical our testimonies are. Like you I have, for a time, and because of my actions, second guessed my salvation. I leanded heavily on that verse that God started a good work in me and will see it through to completion. I also used it as an excuse to continue being the life of the party. But in my case, I became the life of the party just so I could crash that party later on. Someone once parralled Gal. 5:17 this way. There is a dog fight. You show up with two Pits. They square off one against another. Which one wins?? The one that you consistantly feeds. He's healthier; quicker; and faster. For me, the more that I follow the adversary ways, the better I became at it. Then one day I sat down and counted my blessings. I mean I REALLY counted my blessings. I saw God's blessings. He saved me from death, both physical and spiritual. I use to smoke weed, not any more. I got mixed up with alcohol, superseded that with crack cocain. All pasttense. The last time I was in court, they wanted to give me thirty-five yrs. One of the things that help straighten me out was the fact that I was going through God's patience like a child through ice-cream. I didn't want that. So I made up my mind to stop feeding the wrong dog. It wasn't easy at first, but the longer I did it, the easier it became. Pray more while God is still listening to your prayers; work on your relationship with him while you're still physically able, because there will come a time when it will be too late to do so. Heaven and Hell is an exsisting reality, Matt. 25:31-46 is a reality yet to exsist. Don't get caught up on the left hand side. It is the things that you have done that will put you in a better position to understand the person who comes behind you who second guess their salvation, who spent decades playing around with God. Be in a position to help that person by being an example in which they could follow. God wants to help you to achieve this goal, but there have to be an effort made on your part.|
|18||Jacob fights with God||Gen 12:1||TheCurtMan000||182879|
|According to Gen. 12, Jacob was in a fearsome state of mind. He sent word of his coming to his brother, and his brother came out to meet him....with 400 men. Given the circumstances of their departure; that wasn't sounding to comforting. Jacob devised a plan and acted on it. Expecting trouble, Jacob devided up his belongings into two camps so that one might survive if the other one was attacted. Personally; at times, I'd rather face down any AND everybody else other than my adversary, including God. Jacob might have been feeling the same way. But scripture dosn't indicate this, neither does it indicate that at the forefront of this confortation that Jacob knew he was wrestling with God, but even if he did, Jacob knew that God wasn't going to kill him and his family, Esau on the other hand might do just that, at least in Jacob's mind he might.|
|19||who are the sons of God||Gen 6:2||TheCurtMan000||182846|
|It's to my understanding that the 'sons of God' in this particular verse is referring to the decendants of Seth.|
|20||Need chapter and verse of seek ye first||Matt 6:33||TheCurtMan000||182831|
|It sounds like Matt. 6:33 KJV: 'But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.'
Also, there's this website: www.studylight.org. They have a number of bibles; commentaries; and concordences that can all be read on line. A great resource to be aware of.
