Yes, Pilate definetly sinned in what he did. His sin was that, solely for the sake of political appeasement, he convicted a man who he certainly knew was not guilty. He tried to extricate Jesus through argument, but when unsuccessful he would not go ahead and free Jesus anyway, as was indeed within his power, because he did not want to sustain the political repercussions. Jesus was his scapegoat. Sadly, this still regularly happens today. |
