1 | what was mark's occupation? | NT general | Bill Richardson | 231271
Also from www.joyofliving.org/html/MARK1BND01ff.pdf The Author of the Gospel of Mark We do know that this gospel was written by a young man named John Mark, who figures prominently in the New Testament. His mother was named Mary, and she was a wealthy woman who owned a large house in Jerusalem. In Acts 12:12, we see that a large group of the early disciples gathered in Mary’s house to pray for Peter’s release from prison. So apparently Mark might not have had a need for a job in the traditional sense, at least as far as we can know. Hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |

2 | what are similarites of Matt and Mark 1 | NT general | Bill Richardson | 231270
There are quite a few similarities among all 3 of the Gospels, Matthew, Mark and Luke. This is known as the Synoptic Gospels because of their great similarity. The Gospel of John is quite different in style and stage of writing, much later than the first three. Anyway you can see all this in much greater detail at the Wikipedia website. Just insert Synoptic Gospels into their Search Engine which BTW is a great tool for doing homework or Bible School classwork. You can also find a "Harmony of the Gospels" at www.blueletterbible.org/study/harmony/index.cfm Hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |

16 | How many times does the bible tell us | Bible general Archive 4 | Bill Richardson | 231245
In addition to Azure's good answer, I thought I'd add one more. There's a powerful story in 1 Kings 13. It's not very well known, I guess because there's no names involved but suffice it to say, even a Prophet of God is NOT given free license to stray from His Word without consequences. (The only name mentioned is King Jeroboam.) Read the whole chapter and tell us what you think. It can prove to be a very interesting discussion. Hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |

17 | I need verses for accountable to God | Bible general Archive 4 | Bill Richardson | 231244
Another passage showing this concept is found in... Matt 25:14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ 26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ Yes indeed, on that fateful Judgment Day, we'll all have to account for every word, every deed, every thought we held in our mind. And be judged by God's Perfect Sense of Judgement. We're all doomed unless we have to Blood of Christ covering our sins. Hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |

18 | What is the only unpardonable sin? | Bible general Archive 4 | Bill Richardson | 231243
This has been a rather difficult subject for all Bible students for many centuries. We have the plain and clear Words from Jesus Himself... Matt 12:31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. No question there; then we have more from His Official Representatives, one of whom was Paul in... Col 3:8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, BLASPHEMY, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all. So it's clear a person CANNOT get forgiveness for Blasphemy against the HS but a person CAN get forgiveness for blasphemy against anything else. Repentance is the key here. Remember Paul is addressing his words to the christians at Colosse so they have turned their back on their past life of sin and became christians. Christians can always turn their back on their Lord as Peter depicted in 2 Peter 2:22. Then such a person can always come back to Lord, repenting of their sin and be included back into God's family as shown in 1 and 2 Corinthians with the man carrying on an affair with his father's wife. The anti-Christ was just another expression of the apostacy or falling away. There's always a temptation for most all of us christians to go back to our previous "man of sin." It's a tug of war as depicted in Romans 7. God's Grace and Mercy is ALWAYS available to us as His children as He wants all mankind to come home to him. 19 | People on bad terms | Rom 12:3 | Bill Richardson | 231238
I can think of a couple more Matt 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. and Rom 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. It's a little bit helpful to remember the Roman Army during this time period were generally horrible to those nations whom they conquered. They could REQUIRE their Jewish subjects to carry their backpack weighing as much as a 100 pounds or more for about a mile. And the Lord encourages His audience to carry it for that "second mile," in the verses in the same chapter. Again the army soldiers were famous for beating up on innocent citizens and stealing their money. But the Lord wanted them to "turn the other cheek." So in stark contrast with the OT, Jesus was setting a whole new and much higher Standard for this Era of Christianity. Even for those in our world whom we might think really don't deserve Mercy and Compassion, that's exactly what our Lord wants us to do and do it in His Name. Yeah, I know, very tough to do.
