1 Scriptural foundation NT general godsavs 197598
What is the scriptural basis for your reply? You're right, I just would like a scriptural foundation.

Thank you for your time.
2 Feed the hungry before sharing the Word NT general godsavs 197566
I'm trying to find the scripture that instructs us to meet the needs of those we have opportunity to share the word of God.

Basically, it states that before we can share the Word of God, we must find out what their needs are and meet those needs. example of mission work...many are hungry and scripture we direct us to feed these individuals first, and then they would be receptive to the Word.

Thank you
3 Why give 10 percent in tithe after Jesus Gen 14:20 godsavs 196441
A friend of mine asks the question - "if most pastors (christian faith) state that when Jesus came His coming in affect makes the old testament laws and rituals no longer valid - why do we still have to tithe 10 percent as stated in the old testatment?"
4 Receive Holy Spirit and NOT speak tongue Acts 2:38 godsavs 185143
Does the reference found in Acts 2:4 stating that after they received the Holy Spirit they spoke in tongues mean to us that "if we do not speak in tongues we indeed do NOT and have NOT received the gift of the holy spirit?

Acts 2:4
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
5 Follow up to : Baptized in name of Jesus Matt 28:19 godsavs 184446
  Thank you, Jonp.

1) Why do you believe that SO much emphasis is placed on the outward expression of faith "baptism"? Though Jesus commanded, many denominations place the emphasis on the baptism instead of the understanding of the Word that leads to the inward baptism.

2) Also, this particular Pentecostal Church, directs not to Trinity (which they continued to stress that the 'word' Trinity is no where in the bible which I agree) but to the One-ness of God. Though they believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit it is said that they are one and not Three distinct entity of one...?

3) 1 Corinthians 1:17..'lest the cross of Christ be emptied of it's power' please explain.

Thanks, again
6 Baptized in name of Jesus or Trinitarian Matt 28:19 godsavs 184415
I was raised as baptist and was baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I have recently been attending a pentecostal church, and the topic of Baptism emerged. Can someone tell me:
1) Why does the Pentecostal faith focus on the references in Acts - Acts 2:38, Acts 8:12, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5 that points to baptising in the name of Jesus?

Instead of following the direction given by JESUS Himself to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Matthew 28:19

2) Is there a difference?

3) Can ones' salvation be in question if one was baptized in one way over the other?

Thank you

8 Apostolic Pentecostal vs. Baptist? Bible general Archive 3 godsavs 179636
Can someone give me some background on the Apostolic Pentecostal relgion and how does it differ from Baptist religion?

While I know they both believe in Christ, what are the differences and what does "obligatory nature of tithes and offerings" mean as it relates to the AP?
9 Protecting the seed of the righteous? Prov 11:21 godsavs 149734
What is the scripture that refers to protecting the seed of the righteous? I can't find it...I remember it was related to protecting the children of the the saints from evil.
10 What the enemy meant for bad, God used Gen 50:20 godsavs 148643
Is there a scripture that refers to the statement we've all heard before..."what the enemy meant for bad, God used for His good"? If so, where can this be found? It's hard at times trying to determine "was this an actual scripture I'm thinking about, or is this just another statement someone has made in the context of a scripture". Thanks for your help
11 Pauls quote Rom 7:15 godsavs 143586
Can someone tell me where to find the scripture where Paul talks about why does he do the things he does not want to do and not doing the things he should? Thanks
12 A Study of Joseph, Jesus' earthly father Bible general Archive 2 godsavs 114605
I have a non believer in my office that asked the question what happend to Joseph, Jesus' father after Luke 2? I know this was just a question because he was making fun...but I would like to do a study over the weekend and give him that answer. If nothing else it will put God on his mind in a serious manner.

Can anyone give me a good reference that I could use to study this topic?

Would that be, perhaps, an exhaustive study of Luke?
13 Where had Jesus been? Luke 2:51 godsavs 114509
  Where had Jesus been?
14 The last reference of Joseph Luke 2:51 godsavs 114507
Was the last reference of Joseph, Jesus's father, found in Luke 2:39?

"When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth."

I'm specifically looking for the last reference were Joseph was alive and noted in scripture, not just for the reference...'Jesus, the son of Joseph..' type of a reference.

Thank you
15 Is the role of deacon limited? Bible general Archive 2 godsavs 114238
Thank you. Also, can you specifically speak to the question "is the role of the deacon limited to cutting grass, etc" and they are not to be concerned with what happens to the finances of the church, even if things are not being handled ethically? Thanks, again
16 documented, biblical justification Bible general Archive 2 godsavs 114234
Can anyone give me some 'biblical' context around my question? I'm having some difficulty identifying specific, or otherwise, documentation around my question that can validate my theory.
17 Are Deacons limited to serving communion Bible general Archive 2 godsavs 114198
What is the role of the Deacon in the church? From 1 Timothy 3 description, it appears that a Deacon's responsibilities stretch beyond 'cutting grass'. If there has been a situation when the finances of the church are being misappropriated, and things are not being handled biblically or legally do the deacons have an obligation to the members of the church to make sure that all financial matters are cleared up and handled correctly?
18 Visual example of a Grammatical Diagram Bible general Archive 2 godsavs 95625
Can anyone provide a link that will give me a "visual" example of what a "Grammatical Diagram" looks like and a brief definition?

Thank you
19 A scripture for youth month 1 Tim 4:12 godsavs 95479
Can anyone help me locate a scripture that would be appropriate for "Youth Month" that could also be used as a theme? This is my first time attempting to work during youth month and I've been asked to come up with several scriptures that they could choose from that we could also draw a theme for the month. Thanks for any help :-)
