61 | LET US HEED TO THE CALL | Matt 22:14 | prazn | 86055
What has been revealed to me about Matt 22:14 is that many are called to salvation, but few are chosen to follow our Lord (forsaking the way of the world, and even our own lives, for the sake of furthering the gospel of Jesus Christ). Notice that throughout the New Testament, the Lord saved those (the many) who professed their belief in Him. However, the Lord only chose the original 12 disciples (or apostles) to forsake their lives and follow Him. And, of the 12, only 3 (Peter, James and John) were permitted deeper revelation knowledge of the person of Christ. Were the multitude of people whom the Lord granted spiritual healing and restoration any less saved than the apostles? No. We'll see them in heaven right along with the apostles and the rest who are chosen to follow our Lord and to serve Him. Stay blessed! |

62 | The Ultimate Bible Resource | John 16:13 | prazn | 86049
Bible commentaries and study notes are good, but we must know the Word of God for ourselves. 2 Thess 2:1-12, warns us that many will be deceived in this final day because they have not known the Truth for themselves. It is not enough to rely upon the opinions of, or revelations provided to, other believers. The absolute authority on the meaning of the Bible is the Holy Spirit who is within you, if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ: John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. John 16:14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. John 16:15 "All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you." 1 Cor 2:10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 1 Cor 2:11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 1 Cor 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 1 Cor 2:13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by HUMAN WISDOM, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. God bless you! |

A NOTE OF ENCOURAGEMENT: Matt 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matt 7:8 "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." It is troubling to see questions left unanswered for days, in this forum. Like the man waiting at the pool of Bethesda for the waters to be stirred (John 5:2-7), someone is waiting to read the answer that will satisfy their soul. There are so many resources available to believers with a sincere desire to read and understand the word of God. Please don't limit yourself to this forum. If you don't get a satisfactory answer in this forum, "keep knocking". Check out the many other resources that are available to you, maybe even in your own home. Our Lord is faithful. Pray to Him and ask Him to reveal the answers you seek. The door will be opened to you. God bless you! |

69 | Scriptures about striving to grow? | Phil 2:12 | prazn | 85679
I couldn't fit this one in the previous note because of the limit on the number of characters each response may contain: Col 3:1-17 3:1 If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. 5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. 6 For it is on account of these things that the wrath of God will come, 7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him 11--a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all. 12 And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. 71 | Part 2 Does God talk to you personally? | 2 Tim 3:16 | prazn | 85496
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;" John 10:27 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you." John 14:17 "When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me," John 15:26 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come." 72 | Jesus' advocacy towards poor | Mark 12:43 | prazn | 85320
There are different types of "poverty". Not only is there financial poverty, but poverty in the realm of the soul and/or the spirit. In Luke 7:22, Jesus says to John the Baptist's disciples, "Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM." With this statement, our Lord is obviously speaking about spiritual poverty. Notice that He didn't say, "the poor have been fed" or that "the poor have been given money with which to buy food." Similarly, in 2 Corinthians 8:9, Paul writes: "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich." Our Lord was not financially wealthy when He walked on the earth (in fact, the Bible states that the women who followed Him provided financial support for Jesus and His male disciples). Consequently, the above verse is a reference to Jesus' spiritual poverty when He was forsaken by God the Father as He was dying on the cross. Through His death, we who believe on Him have been made spiritually wealthy. Jesus characterized the widow's contribution as being "more" than all other contributions to the temple or synagogue treasury. This may be because the widow was financially poor, but spiritually wealthy in that her contribution was motivated by her faith and obedience to Almighty God. It's easy to give to a ministry when you are wealthy, but not so easy to give when you're not wealthy. A person who gives out of their poverty is not expecting an earthly reward. "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all... things will be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33) |
