Searcher, Do you agree or disagree with the idea that the reason some will not be condemned at the Great White Throne judgment, and some will, is because some people's sin is not imputed to them, and other's sin is? Love in Christ, Mark |

Merv, Just to review what has been said over and over: The Sabbath was a day of rest. (Do you take Saturday off from work? I do.) Worship was to be done every day. The Sabbath was not given as a day of worship, it was given as a day of rest. If we choose to meet for prayer, or preaching, or bagels, on Tuesday morning at 3:30 am, so what? That has nothing to do with whether we keep the Sabbath or not, since the Sabbath was given as a day of rest, not an exclusive day for worship, i.e., "you may only worship/meet/preach/teach/pray/eat bagels on this one day." The idea that Christians meeting for fellowship and teaching replaces the Sabbath day of rest is trying to make two entirely different things equal. Do you think that the only day the Jews went to the synogogue was on Saturday, or that they only offered sacrifices on Saturday? Do you keep the Sabbath? (That means no driving, turning on your stove, turning on a light bulb, an oh so much more?) Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: If you believe that you should keep the Sabbath, then keep it, and keep it unto the Lord. I do not believe I am to keep it, and I do not keep it unto the Lord. We are not to sit in judgment of each other, we are only to be persuaded in our own minds. And I really do concur with Brad - you have gone over and over and over and over and over this same material. Lets give it a permanent Sabbath. Love in Christ, Mark |

Hi Journey Me, Lets take for example your loins girded in truth. If you know the truth, you will be prepared against any lies, no matter what they are. It is not required that you study and learn what every lie is that people, or devils, tell. When the bankers train their tellers how to spot counterfeit money, they do not have them handle counterfeit bills, they only handle real bills. Then when the counterfeit comes along, whatever its characturistics, they know its not the real thing, because they know what the real thing is. If you know the truth, it will stand against any lie, whether its one you've heard before or not. Look at the shield of faith. It will quench those fiery darts, no matter what brand, or from what direction. You don't need to learn every type of fiery dart, you just need to believe in God's protection, and lift up that shield! Sometimes God directs people to write books, and sometimes God directs people to read those books. But unless He is directing you to do so, I think your time is much better spent studying the Scriptures. Love in Christ, Mark |

1006 | I and the Father are one, and One who | Jon 4:2 | mark d seyler | 153296
Hi Ray, Well, I have to differ with you about what capitalization means in the Bible. If a noun or pronoun is capitalized, other than according to the standard rules of capitalization, it means that the translators of that particular version chose to use capitalization to express their understanding of what the text is saying. If capitalization is not used, it does not neccesarily mean that the translators did not think the word referred to God, but rather that the did not choose to express their understanding via capitalization. You wrote "The capitalization of "One" of course shows the word as speaking of the Deity." Capitalization does not show this word as speaking of Deity. Context shows it is speaking of Deity, because Jonah is speaking of God! This is true whether is is capitalized, not capitalized, or somewhere in between. I read Bible translations because I can't read the original languages. My purpose for reading a translation is to learn as much as possible the original Word God directed. Since the original languages did not use capitalization, capitalization is not a part of the Word of God, therefore I ignore capitalization in the Bible, and look to context and usage to understand what it is saying. Personally, I find the idea of God "losing His deity", well, frankly, it seems blasphemous. If I thought God could lose His deity, how would He even be God? God is eternal, holy, and righteous, and any concept I may have that would indicate that He could be any other way is flat out wrong. Love in Christ, MarK |

1007 | What Does 666 Mean? | Rev 13:18 | mark d seyler | 152996
This is a quote from Dr. Thomas Ice: Many have tried to figure out the identity of the Antichrist through numerical calculations. Such approaches will always fail and should not be attempted. Phone books are full of names that might add up. The wisdom of "counting the name" is not to be applied in our day, for that would be jumping the gun. Instead, it is to be applied by believers during the tribulation. In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul teaches that during the current church age the Antichrist is being restrained (v. 6). Antichrist will not be "revealed" until "his time." The Holy Spirit's selection of the word "revealed" indicates that the identity of the Antichrist will be concealed until the time of his revelation at some point after the rapture. Thus, it is not possible to know before "his time" the identity of the Antichrist. Revelation makes it clear that when the time comes the identity of the Antichrist will be clear to believers. As noted above, Revelation makes it clear that every believer during the tribulation will know that to receive the mark of the beast means the rejection of Christ. This will be universally understood by Christians at that time. None of the suggestions of the past or any before the tribulation have merit. Revelation 13:17,18 clearly says that the number 666 will be the mark proposed for the right hand or forehead. No one in history has even proposed such a number in anything like tribulation conditions, so past guesses as to his identity can be nullified on this basis. The better part of wisdom is to be content that the identification is not yet available, but will be when the future false Christ ascends to his throne. The person to whom 666 applies must have been future to John's time, because John clearly meant the number to be recognizable to someone. If it was not discernible to his generation and those immediately following him-and it was not-the generation to whom it will be discernible must have lain (and still lies) in the future. Past generations have provided many illustrations of this future personage, but all past candidates have proven inadequate as fulfillments. Some have suggested that the mark of the beast will be the universal product code, a chip implanted under the skin, or an invisible mark requiring scanning technology to recognize it. Such applications do not align with what the Bible actually says. The mark of the beast-666-is not cashless technology or biometrics. The Bible speaks precisely about what the mark will be. It will be: • the Antichrist's mark, identified with his person • the actual number 666, not a representation • a mark, like a tattoo • visible to the naked eye • on you, not in you • recognized, not questioned • voluntary, not involuntary, thus not given through deception • used after the rapture, not before • used in the second half of the tribulation • needed to buy and sell • universally received by non-Christians, but universally rejected by Christians • show worship and allegiance to the Antichrist • promoted by the false prophet • the destiny of all receiving the mark will be eternal punishment in the lake of fire Probably no other number in history or in Biblical studies has captivated the minds of both Christians and non-Christians as "666." Even those who know nothing of the future plan of God as revealed in the Bible know there is significance to this number. Secular and religious writers, filmmakers, artists, and cultural critics allude to, portray, and expound upon it. It has been used and abused by evangelicals as well as others and has been the subject of much fruitless speculation. Too often sincere students of prophecy have tied the number to contemporary technology and its potential in an effort to demonstrate the relevance of their interpretation. Yet to do so is to put the "cart before the horse," for prophecy and the Bible do not gain authority or legitimacy because of culture or technology. 1008 | No promise land for Moses ? | Deut 34:6 | mark d seyler | 152970
Hi Searcher, I do not cast aside the Law! Please reread my post. It is the Bible that tells us that the Law cannot save us, and instead leads us to Jesus. Act 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: Act 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. And there certainly is a similitude, and a rather exact one. And of course we can see many such throughout the Bible. God often used personal or national histories to illustrate His eternal truths. Call it eisegesis (which in fact it is, as I understand the term, since the Bible does not state these things plainly), but again I ask, do you think this was an accident, or do you think God intended it? Even the Law, by itself, will not give us the direction we need. Just ask the Pharisees. We need the Holy Spirit teaching us, leading us, humbling us, so that we can begin to know how and where to walk. I do not understand the resistance to believe that God communicates in His Word at many levels, and in many ways. I do not know how the notion that God displays NT theology through OT history can be a threat or danger to anyone, or be anything else but a really cool method for both teaching us, and showing how great God is. Really, I just want to reassure you, Searcher, I do not "cast aside" a single word of the Bible - not one single word! In fact, I think it is fair to say that that there is more there than may meet the eye ;-) Love in Christ, Mark |

1009 | No promise land for Moses ? | Deut 34:6 | mark d seyler | 152959
Hi Searcher, Many places in the New Testament couple Moses and the Law. Jesus often referred to the Law of Moses, and the Prophets. The Law and the Prophets. But that notwithstanding. . . We just can't help but notice: Moses led the Israelites to the promised land, but did not lead them in. Joshua led them in. Moses stands with (represents, is associated with, whatever...) the Law. Joshua, (same name as Jesus), means God is Salvation, speaks of the Messiah, and grace. The Law does not save. It only leads us to Jesus. Jesus saves, and brings us into the promise. The Law brings us to the point of entry to the promise, Jesus brings us in to the promise. Moses brought them to the point of entry to the promised land, Joshua brought them in to the promised land. We couldn't help but notice. Do you think that God did not intend this similitude? Is it an accident? Love in Christ, Mark |

1011 | Food for thought. | Acts 16:31 | mark d seyler | 152827
Hi Lionheart, Heb 5:8-9 "Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation," The way I read this, Jesus is not the source of eternal salvation to those who do not obey Him, just to those who do. I also was one of those who proclaimed faith but continued to live my own way. Only when I committed myself entirely to Him did I experience a real transformation in my life. Obviously God had His hand on my life from a the beginning, but I only count the beginning of my salvation from when I actually began to serve Him. God bless you my brother! Love in Christ, Mark |

GB, You know that I know as a fact that you are who we say you are. Your email to me was very plain, signed "George", from sender "Glory Bound", and I am not the only person who has seen it. 1016 | What was the true meaning of livestock? | Gen 2:16 | mark d seyler | 152395
First God gave mankind plants to eat. Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. Gen 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. This was not changed until after the flood. Gen 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. Gen 9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Gen 9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. God also put the fear of mankind into the animals, to level the playing field. God clothed Adam and Eve with skins, and Abel kept sheep. We know sheep were sacrificed to God. God gave animals for food, but not until after the flood. We can eat meat, but there is nothing in the Bible to indicate that Adam and Eve did. Love in Christ, Mark |

Hi Hank, the statement I refer to was the point Kalos was making by his post. you say this, but God says that. Kalos, were you trying to say that I was correct or incorrect in my assesement? It seemed both to me and to meusing that your post was refutation of my point. Was it? If I was wrong to interpret your words as such, I apologize. Otherwise, perhaps meusing is owed an apology. Or we can just let this all go under the bridge. Love in Christ, Mark |

1020 | The Bible written in code ? | Bible general Archive 2 | mark d seyler | 152173
in your post 152128, you wrote: """You write: "merely reading, or even studying the Bible, will not necessarily result in Christian faith." But God says: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 (KJV)""" You quoted my statement that "merely reading, or even studying, will not necessarily result in Christian faith". To that you replied "But God says..." and followed with a quote from scripture. The use of the word "but" in this location and in this manner signifies the overturning of the previous statement, which was, "merely reading, or even studying the Bible will not necessarily result in Christian faith." A simple example would be "you say the sky is blue, but I say. . ." We all know that I am about to say the sky is something other than blue. When you inverse the original statement, you arrive at "merely reading, or even studying will necessarily result in Christian faith." Perhaps it was not your intent to make such a statement that reading the Bible would always result in a believer. But to be fair to Meusing, that is the meaning of the statement you made. Love in Christ, mark |
