1001 | What is your definition of a believer? | James 2:19 | lionheart | 147162
jcsav you just stated what I and others have been saying for a long time. Anyone can hang a label on themseves but that doesnt make them what they profess to be. The proof is in the action. James 2:14-26 Our actions evidence our faith, our belief or lack of it. Just because one calls themself a believer doesnt make it so. Mere verbalisation or mental ascent are worthless, that person still remains a non-believer. In Christ, lionheart |

1003 | Is James 4:3 completely true? | James 4:3 | lionheart | 223274
biblenovice, Doc's response to you was right on. Know where does he even suggest that scripture is in error. He gave you lots of good scriptural support. God answers our prayer and grants our requests, He just might do it in the ways we don't expect. Case in point, I grew up in Michigan where it would get brutally cold during the winter. I've driven my share of beater cars with no heat and I never froze. As a matter of fact I stayed comfortably warm without a functioning heater. My question to you is, has not God taken care of you through all this? Nuff said! In Him, lionheart |

1005 | Is James 4:3 completely true? | James 4:3 | lionheart | 223293
Ariel, Its a good 2 cents to add my friend. It's so easy for people to put God in a box and then when God doesn't answer the way they think he should they will get upset. The truth be told God hears and answers prayer every time. We should be grateful to God that he doesn't always answer the way we expect. What we should consider is how Gods supplies our need. Phil 4:19. In Him, lionheart |

sunnyhills, I pray this note finds it's way to you. My heart goes out to you,I have two sons who's very salvation and well being I am desperatly concerned for, I beg you and strongly encourage you to give consideration to Hebrews 10:21-25. None of us is perfect,we all blow it on a daily basis. But God knows we need him,but we need each other too. Thats why God brings us together and encourages us to be involved in eachothers lives. None of us is perfect,we just trust God and do the best we can. Please give your brothers in Christ the benifit of a doubt. God wants us unified and not at loggerheads with each other. 1010 | Can you prove eternal security? | 1 Pet 1:23 | lionheart | 141319
Tim,hello my brother. I'm not sure what you mean by Daisy theology, could it be what I call pie in the sky theology. I think many times people tend to over simplify things. The average person may see faith as mental ascent. But faith is oh so much more. True faith conotates action. James touches on this in Ja 2:14-18. We are absolutly NOT saved by works, but our faith or lack of it is evidenced by how we live and by what we do. The greek word for faith here is the word pistis which is an action verb. Our faith is evidenced by the changed lives we lead after we've asked Jesus to be Lord and Savior of our life. If I've twisted this in any way please set me straight. Your brother in Christ lionheart |

1013 | Do we get saved by Baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | lionheart | 203782
jwid7, Welcome to the forum. I read Tamara's post to you and she made a valid point on reconciling scripture. I believe all scripture can be reconciled. It's a matter of people being willing and able to do the homework and leg work involved in studying all this out in the context of God's Word. 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16,17 and 2 Peter 1:19-21. With these as bedrock scriptures we can begin to do productive studies of God's Word and we will fine that scripture is reconcilable and doesn't contradict itself. Look at Mark 16:15, Matt 28:18-20, Acts 2:38. It all fits together. Baptism is part of our salvation as is faith and repentance. Now the question is and I will say this off the get go that if we take any one of these things do you still have salvation? 2 Timothy 2:15 is extremely important here. In Him, lionheart |

1014 | Do we get saved by Baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | lionheart | 203804
Steve, I should have been clearer on this. Yes of course the thief on the cross was saved. Our Lord had the authority to grant salvation to this person. Time and place are important here as this occurs before the church administration. In Him, lionheart |

1015 | Do we get saved by Baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | lionheart | 203813
Steve, My brother in part yes. What I was stating was that at the time of the crucifixion people were still under the old covenant not the new. Acts 2:38 is not yet available. What happened at the cross with the thief was no less of faith and God's grace than today. This was within Jesus authority to grant salvation here which he did. We just had not entered the present administration at that particular time. I hope I'm making a little more sense here. If I'm missing something here tell me. In Him, lionheart |

1016 | Do we get saved by Baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | lionheart | 203883
Steve, Good day my brother. I don't always make things clear when I'm putting things down on paper. The three things I mentioned, what I should have said not that we don't have salvation but that when any of this gets left out then the whole story isn't being told. Concerning the church I should have stated that up to this point people were instructed according to the law and the baptism they knew was John's baptism which was a baptism of repentance where as of Pentecost baptism is now a baptism of salvation. This is one of the differences as I understand it. My brother you weren't misrepresenting anything. You were asking legitimate questions. Brother you were doing what we should all be doing and I for one am grateful for that. In Him, lionheart |
