Hank: Deuteronomy 29:29 "The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law." NIV. An older man in our church shared this verse with me, before I started preparing for ministry. This verse has been such a blessing in my studies. Often times I have refered to this verse and discovered that we were never intended to know everything. We just are not able to understand some things, we walk by faith. Walking by Faith is very hard at times. But, that's why it's called Faith, because we walk one step at a time, depending on God to show us where to put the next step. Blessings to you Hank. Justme |

423 | A divorced pastor in ministry? | 1 Tim 3:2 | justme | 174543
Magellan2019: Welcome to the forum. I regret to inform you that you responded to a thread from November of 2001. Likely no one there at that will respond as if it were an recent thread. However someone else might respond as well as me. Having been a pastor, and now retired, I have seen the real life hard effects of divorce on people from all walks of life, Christians and non-Christians as well. First let me say I can hear you have a desire to be in ministry, and you say you have the "call". Scripture says many are called, but few are choosen. And the choosing is the difficult part. Part of the "call" is being acceptable and prepared. No matter how prepared we are if we are not acceptable to those who are searching for a "called" person to fill a ministry need, all the preperation in the world won't help. Most certianly there are people in ministry that make us wonder how or why any ministry could have called such a person. Personally wonder how the Word of Faith "tearchers" and so called "Prophets", and "Preachers" have managed to dupe their followers into believing they are "called" by God. Please consider that many places of Mission ministries do not consider divorced persons for being Missionaries. The Souther Baptist are just one such group that have this policy, regardless of the circumsatnces. There are some ministries who will call a divorced person if the divorced person was not aChristian at the time of the divorce. The fact that even if it is the wife who was divorced, and the husband it is his first marriage will not be acceptable to many. However, the more liberal denominations who tend to have a low view of Scripture, are mostly not concerned with divorced persons in ministry. These liberal denomiinations gererally accept homosexuality, and are more leaning to universalism. The exception of course would be the Roman Catholic Church. There are para church ministries that are solid and Scriptual who do call divorced people, if the person has a history from the inital divorce, of having dealt with the spiritual and psychological issues connected with divorce. Certianly enough time would have passed to established one as fit for serving others in Christ. I am not judging you, but in a wider opinion of Christians who are being divorced or have been divorced, no matter who filed first. As a pastor and even after being retired, I have come to the conclusion we who marry those who come to us seeking marriage need to be much more active in dealing with those who come to us after a divorce. For insatnce; if the divorced person and their former spouse is not remarried, I would insist on talking to the both of them from the former marriage. If ther is ANY hope of reconcillation, then this is what MUST be given every chance possible. When this is not what happens, we have divorce and remarriage, and the rate for a second divorce is very great. The third marriage has almost impossible odds against it, even when both are Christians. Christians divorce just about the same as non Christians, which just ought never to be. If pastors would spend the time to attempt to assure there is no hope whatsoever of reuniting divorced husbands and wives, I am sure this would make a huge impact on the Church. Is this not what Jesus expected us to do? We do not because of "hardness of heart" on someones part. There are times that nothing can be done because the divorce was the choice of either killing the marriage or the couple killing each other. The book of Hosea is an example of a marriage most would have said there is no chance to save this marriage! But, God did. The same God of Hosea is the same God of today. You did not say if there are children envolved, Hosea had children that were not his, God can heal anyones marriage if we will let Him. What hurts me deeply, is that many of the couples I married, are divorced today. I wonder what I could have done that might have help prevent these divorces. I believe if I had adopted a more in depth counseling with the couples and parents, with more emphasis on marriage on marriage being a Covenant with the couple and God, I would have been a better pastor. My bottom line if there is ANY hope of even the very slightest, I would encourage you to do all you can under Gods help to reunite yourself to your wife. Adultery is able to be forgiven. Ther is no divorce that each person does not have some responsibility. May God lead you so you can answer the "call" you believe you have been given. Peace and Grace be with you. Justme |

425 | How many people raised from the dead | 1 Kin 17:22 | justme | 174261
BradK:-) After jesus raised from the grave Scripture says graves were opened and many of the raised were walking among the People. There is no way to know the number, but that too is something to consider. Someday we too will be in that number! That will be a time of more fully understand what Mercy and Grace really mean. Blessings Brad! Justme |

Doc: I do not hace a congregation. I am forced to be medically retired. I am blessed to be used as the Lord opens doors and help however I can in church. I am sorry if I said anything to indicate I was serving as a pastor now. I do feel my wife and I seek out people in ministry and encourage them, and when ever the possible look at needs they might have for the ministry. Bible translations, we try to give the NASB Application Bible or the NASB Study Bible to those who do not have the NASB. We attempt to invite the couple to dinner, and offer our prayers for them and help as needed. I felt the biggest need in my ministry at the four churches I was pastor. A pastor and the family can be a fish bowl experience, and often those in ministry are neglected and lonely, and have needs that no one in the church has a clue of. Encouragement is something we all need, and it takes so little to bless the socks of these fokes. Thanks for your responce Doc. Justme |

Doc. I read Tim' answer and copied it off for my self. I just might someday look a little closer at this. Mean time real life issues like a 19 year old girl from our daughter's High School graduating class was killed the night after graduation. This has been an especially sad situation as the girl was into the Wica cult. Our daughter spoke at the funeral and read some Scripture. The pastor doing the service was so pleased that she had witnessed to her for three years. Sadly there was no evidence she made Christ Lord. This has completely rocked the graduating class with deep grief. Blessings Doc. Justme |

CDBJ:-) Thanks for taking the time to write such a in depth note. I was not sure where you stood and I do not mean to offend anyone. I try to allow for dialgue, when I do not know if someone is very soild on a position, I would prefer to look for common grounds than fuss over an issue that does not effect ones Salvation. It is clear to me that when Jesus says when things seem really bad, that even thenit might not be "yet". Blessings CDBJ. PS on all other forums I go by Farout and I did here at first, but I got the feeling some did not like it so I changed to Justme. So if I make a mistake and sgn out Farout, forgive the mistake. 430 | Is pre-tribulation biblical? | Revelation | justme | 173528
Doc: I am of the opinion that too much time and effort is spent attempting to prove that their understanding of the Rapture and end times is correct. I have often seen, a display of just how much more spiritual, and how much more knowledge a person has, by how loud or fast a person can defend their position on the Rapture. This display of puffed up knowledge, goes against the teachings of Jesus! How sad we don't attempt to out love one another. This topic of the Rapture and end times has allowed the evil one to show just how carnal we can get with each other. I dount any of us will ever study Scripture sufficently to argue any point, that in the end we lose our love for each other. Blessings Doc. Justme |

CDBJ: I too am concerned that many Christians are tought that we won't see tribulation. Better to be alert and ready, than to be self assured and not able to endure suffering. When I watch the "LEFT BEHIND" movies, and see that when people are "Raptured" the clothes are neatly folded, and the person is all of a sudden gone, and no one has the slightest idea what has happened, I get upset. I am sure when Jeses returns there will be no doubt what has just happened! It's my pet pieve that these fiction writers have made so much money and tricked so amny into believing these stories are actual truth. Yes, even some of the "elect" have been deceived and "left behind". Justme |

In this instance the people want to date, not to have sexual experience. Perhaps, looking at a newer version of Scripture would help. I think the NASB would help bring the words more into context. Perhaps a good Concordance would be in order for deeper study. Blessings. justme |

jamie: welcome to the Forum: Perhaps you might of thought this was a good answer, and most likely the answer reflects you understanding at this point. However the Forum uses the Bible for the basis of our answeres, and we give the Biblical reference to the answer. Not only is there no Biblical reference, but your understanding of genitics is not correct. There is no Biblical reason to stop cousins form dating. Blessings. justme |

440 | Divorce for no sexual life ever - OK? | Matt 19:9 | justme | 171118
Jeff: Gal. 5:6..."The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." NIV. There comes a time when there is such vain effort to defend ones point that love is ignored. That is and was my point. Show me where you are headed with love as the objective? I read in your profile you respect the views and oppinions of others. I have not seen anything but attacks from you. Your post is offensive. I find it very difficult to believe your appology is ment in a spirit of brotherly concern, say nothing of Christian love. I will not say something that will impress others who read this. I do feel this is much more that a "type of disagreement". I remind you Paul and Barnabas had a very serious split. I am open and honest to say until the Lord interviens we are very divided. When you sign off "Christ's Love" you need to use this ending in a more honest way. Justme |
