201 | Is speaking in tongues THE only sign? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140367
John's Baptism was for repentance. That is why they had to be re-baptised. The Baptism here is not for repentance, but for the remission of sin. And you are right again the baptism of Phillip is the same.

203 | Is praying aloud together Biblical? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140369
Salvation is made available for everyone. But if you keep it up, you could be right. I never said I had the same spiritual discernment as the apostle Paul. Do not say something that I did not say What I said was that I could tell the difference between the gift of tongues been spoken and the tongues been spoken when one receives the Holy Ghost as the spirit of God give utterance. You can talk about me all you wish. But Please do not call the things God do, chaotic disorder which would be the case in the latter.

After I look back over it. I worded it Poorly. I am the one who opologize. I would never compare myself to Paul. Thanks! I try to be more careful.
205 | Individuals seeking, expecting tongues? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140396
I have not done so. However, individuals do seek the Holy Spirit whether it says so or not. Who did I tell to seek for the Holy Spirit? I told them to obey what Pete said in Acts 2:38 and there would be no need for this discussion. This is a bible forum, not a Church. We are discussing "Tongues" because of a question that was Asked (If anyone can remember what that was). However, Martin Luther said it best: "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the Truth of God except precisely that little point that the world and the devil are at the moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages is where the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is merely flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point." |

Greetings Ray, There is the Gift of the Holy Spirit.(Acts 2:38). And I beleive to receive the Holy Spirit one must do what Peter says (this is the beginning of the indwelling). Then there is the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12) |

211 | jcsav, what does it mean to obey Ac 2:38 | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 142696
I disagree with you Acts 2:38 can not be any clearer. Peter says "......And you shall recieve the Gift of the Holy Ghost." How many ways can you understand that to mean? You can not be saved without receiving the Holy Spirit. You have not showed me one Scripture that says we receive the Holy Ghost when we are saved. Believing is not being saved. You can believe, yet not be saved. How can you understand Acts 2:38 better than me when you have not been baptized in "Jesus name" and by that I mean literally and not figuratively. And doing so, is also a part of repentance. And doing both, you will receive the Holy Spirit. |

212 | jcsav, What does does Acts 2:41 mean? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 142697
I did not say God do not use the brain. I meant that the utterance comes from the Holy Ghost and not oneself. God spoke through a donkey. Why is this so hard for you to understand? Do God make use of our minds, yes that is where our spirit is (not physically). But he don't need to. What can your mind add to God? Did those who wrote the Bible always understand what they wrote?
213 | jcsav, what does it mean to obey Ac 2:38 | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 142735
If you asked anyone that have been baptized in Jesus name whether they have received the Holy Ghost are not. Those who have will say so. Those who have not is usually trueful to say they have not. One the Other hand, If you ask anyone that have been Baptized under the statement "In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. And most all will say they have received the Holy Spirit. And I have notice if one ask how do you know, then there is always someone to tell them that they in fact can claim or is in title to it.
214 | A bit confused regarding tongues | 1 Cor 14:22 | jcsav | 112129
Hank, who refers to speaking in tongues as an ecstatic babblings? Certainly not the Bible for it says, as the Spirit gives Utterance. If you don't think this is of God then please state who you think it is from.
215 | Tongues a necessary sign of salvation? | 2 Cor 13:14 | jcsav | 112724
Kalos, lCor 14:21-22,"In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. And Jesus stated the signs that shall follow those that believe in Mark 16:16-18. Nowhere that I know of did the Bible list the Fruit of the Spirit as a sign. This sign can only be manifested by God. That is what the adversary can not stand. He wants to stay hide in the dark. He do not want to be exsposed for what he is. And that is a liar.
216 | Tongues a necessary sign of salvation? | 2 Cor 13:14 | jcsav | 112851
Do you understand the difference between the "Gift of Tongues" and the "Sign." The rules that Paul stated in 1Cor. do not apply to the "Sign".The Corintians did not volate what God had said in the use of tongues because until Paul instructed them, there was none. As for as the signs being a temporal promise. If so, God never told us. Because these signs (all of them) still follow the Church.
217 | Oneness and the word "person" | 2 Cor 13:14 | jcsav | 112852
Then why have you not keep his Words? When Peter told you to repent and be baptized in Jesus name. Why didn't you do so? The Gospel that I preach it will be your Judge in the last day.
218 | Gift or Sign? | 2 Cor 13:14 | jcsav | 112913
Tim, if you received the Holy Ghost. Then you must have quenched it. Because it should be stirring your soul just hearing us speak. No disrespect intended. But, lests say I'll wrong. You mean to tell me you can not tell the difference in the first time you spoke (sign) and the gift (if you have it). Did you have control over the Spirit as Paul said to the Church at Corintians when you was first filled?
219 | Why isn't the gift of tongues a sign? | 2 Cor 13:14 | jcsav | 112914
Norm, would you explain more about what you mean by the gift of tongues is a sign, but it is not the sign that you have received the Holy Spirit/Ghost.
220 | Oneness and the word "person" | 2 Cor 13:14 | jcsav | 112916
Tim, I take it that you meant Comforter in place of Counselor. Matt 10:20 states:" For it is not ye that speak, but the spirit of your Father which speaketh in you." I don't think I will be using the Enchance Strongs. I don't know why they Enchanced it. I will check into it when I have the time.
