41 | What do we do with the OT? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 150048
When I first put the question up I was hoping to see some discussion on real life applications... Based on the last two posts by BornTwice and lionheart, is it safe to infer that if my intention is good I can break the law? Let me ask a hypothetical question for you to consider. Let's say I see a poor illegal immigrant family and my heart desires to help them. What if I hire them to work in my company? Here I am breaking the law by hiring illegal immigrants but my heart desires to help out strangers in our land. Is this right thing to do? If not, what is wrong? iktoose |

42 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149990
BornTwice, Yes, I do agree that Jesus said "judgement, mercy, and faith" are weightier than other. However, remember how He completed the sentence, "... these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone." He did not say we can disregard those but He said "these ought ye to have done." Correct? In light of that, how can we say that the law that addresses farming/clothing and doing yard work on Sabath day are not important or has no application to us? iktoose! |

43 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149987
Every denomination seems to have slightly different moral standard, not? Some have audacity to ordain gay clergymen. iktoose! |

44 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149977
Here BornTwice is saying we don't care about some laws such as dietary, cleanliness, and some other standards(??). This tells me that we are free from certain laws but not all of the law, correct? It seems that we can break some laws but not the ones WE think they are more important. That to me is interpreting the Law? iktoose |

45 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149921
Searcher, I was merely reiterating what Born twice stated in his response, "conscience." I believe everyone's moral standard is different(even though we use the same OT/NT). One could be sensitive about a subject while others care not. Examples: Drinking alcohol, speeding on highway, lying to your kids for their own good. If my conscience says it is okay to drive few miles over the speed limit but the law says that you're guilty and someone might object to it. iktoose |

46 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149913
Thanks to Born Twice for the insight. If my conscience says it is okay to cheat a little here and a little there. And that is the clear black and white line as you put it. That may be a stumbling block for some other believers. How would you reconcile that problem? iktoose |

47 | Why take UNCLEAN animals onto The Ark | Acts 10:11 | iktoose | 148910
Merv, I do admire your faithfulness/attitude about the laws. It reminds the psalmist of Psalm 119. If you can compare yourself to the psalmist, please continue striving to keep the laws and be content. However, I know I cannot fulfill the laws and always end up feeling guilty. iktoose. |

48 | Why take UNCLEAN animals onto The Ark | Acts 10:11 | iktoose | 147780
Leviticus 11 (old testament laws) defines what clean and unclean animals are for human consumption. Again this is the laws. You cannot satisfy the laws though you can try. If you are absolutely sure that we are not eat unclean animals, can you say the same for the rest of the laws? Just read Leviticus and see if you can abide by the laws. iktoose |

49 | Admonish law-breakers or not? | Matt 22:17 | iktoose | 146223
Sad thing is that these cheaters are church officers and bring tithe. And churches don't care how they earn the money as long as money is flowing in. iktoose |

50 | Healing through prayer? | James 5:14 | iktoose | 145635
Practicing faith healing ministry.... Having conducted James 5:14, if a sick person is healed, then everything would be okay (PTL). The problem comes when the sick person is not healed or got worsen. Now who you going to blame, the sick person's faith or the elder's faith? iktoose |

51 | Physically Correct Communion? | 1 Cor 11:26 | iktoose | 145626
I concur with srbaegon. I also understand Garathom's encounter with his congregation opposing to change the tradition. One time my pastor proposed to use real wine (actually it was wine diluted with juice) and it made some jump. So he withdrew the idea. Since we are on the subject... I know some churches allow only ordained ministers to preside the Communion. Would anyone oppose if non-ordained Christian preside the Communion? If you oppose, pls explain your biblical reason. Thanks. iktoose |

52 | Healing through prayer? | James 5:14 | iktoose | 145619
I have seen some folks taking this verse too literally (possibly because they have greater faith than me). For example, having headache or contracted with common cold, instead of taking asprin or cold medicine, this person would call his pastor for healing prayer. What is wrong with this picture? iktoose |

53 | A Fear of the Lord encompasses what? | Prov 22:4 | iktoose | 145563
I have been a Christian since 1991 and the greatest Godly wisdom I got is fearing the Lord, I think. Whenever I am tempted to commit a sin, I think about the consequences (fearing the Lord). iktoose |

54 | Do you think there are modern day prophe | Acts 2:17 | iktoose | 145380
Prayon, Could you please name few modern day prophets that you consider legit? Obviously it is not so hard to pick out false prophets. iktoose |

55 | Noah, a bad evangelist? | Gen 6:18 | iktoose | 145305
All this time, I thought Noah was pretty bad evangelist, unable to save any souls other than his immediate family of 8 for 120 yrs. This verse (Gen 6:18) just revealed me God's plan; rescuing only 8 souls. God did not mention any others except of course the animals. God decided to wipe out all and He surely did it.
56 | Should we model after Jacob? | Gen 28:22 | iktoose | 145295
Searcher, Contrary to your note, if you read the verses 20, 21 and 22 carefully, you may be able to catch what I am trying to preach here. Jacob is vowing to God that he would surely give a tenth to Him "If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey that I take, and will give me food to eat and garments to wear, and I return to my father's house in safety, then the LORD will be my God." I thought Jacob had a pretty good deal here. Did he not? Was he not blessed aftward? Do you blame his attitude? |

57 | why do we worship? | Josh 1:8 | iktoose | 145248
Amen to that. Also worship should include Holy Communion (bread and wine).
58 | why do we worship? | Josh 1:8 | iktoose | 145243
Amen to all Prayon stated herein. I'd like add this to that: Worship is our (believers) response to God for His grace and mercy. It could be in the form of praise, listening to sermon, and offering.
59 | Spirit Baptism | Acts 8:12 | iktoose | 145231
Prayon, here we go again... What you said here "When you are ask Christ to come into your life and you are 'saved' you receive the Holy Spirit." is the moment of salvation, correct? Earlier post, you said "Yes the baptism of the Holy Spirit is different from receiving salvation." Are you saying "receiving the Spirit" and "being baptized by the Spirit" are two differnt things? |
||||||
60 | Spirit Baptism | Acts 8:12 | iktoose | 145214
Prayon, thank you for answering to my original questions. You said that baptism of the Spirit is when you truly become filled with the Spirit. That means you can experience this Spirit baptism over and over, correct?
