481 | Saved from what? | 2 Tim 4:3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 198897
'Let me restate this: Our message has paled and become effeminate because it fails to expose the dilemma of the human condition in any convincing way and virtually forgets the judgment to follow. We have preached in such a way as to cause people to say, “Saved from what?”' - Jim Elliff
482 | Got Patient, Need Rest TGIF/S? | Titus 3:9 | humbledbyhisgrace | 211368
Greetings keliy, Persecution of Christ and His disciples have a particular context in scripture. It shouldn't be confused with biblical correction and admonishment. Persecution comes from those apposed to God and His people. Admonishment and correction are between Christian and Christian and is intended to turn one in error from his or her error. Steve |

483 | The subtlety of false teaching | Titus 3:10 | humbledbyhisgrace | 205238
The subtlety of false teaching is that it uses the Word of God but misrepresents its teaching. There is no real threat posed to the Christian church by those who teach something explicitly and overtly anti-biblical, anti-Christ, and anti-God. But there is great danger to the church from subtle teaching that appears to be biblical and pulls away unwary souls from the faith. - John MacArthur

Okay, now that you have given your opinion of what you think, please provide us with scripture that teaches what you believe. Let me save you some time. There are none to be found! Steve PS. You might want to review the terms of use on this site. There is a statement in there which I am providing for your reference. "Postings must be Biblically based and not opposing the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura), Christianity, or the deity of Jesus Christ." |

485 | What does "Edens Dawn Light Mean?" | Heb 2:9 | humbledbyhisgrace | 200944
Brother Hank, Couldn't agree with you more on the "Message". If you look at some of the comparisons done between actual translations and the message your left wondering who's message it is??? It certainly is not the message of God! Peterson's so called motivation for even doing the message was because he believed the congregation had become "bored with the Biblical text" so he set out to make it interesting to them. Once again mankind finds himself better equipped and capable of doing a better job then God? Go figure! What concerns me at this point is so many are buying into this nonsense. Even the publisher of the message (NavPress) "advertised it as a "translation from the original languages" that "accurately communicates the original Hebrew and Greek" and brings out "the subtleties and nuances of the Hebrew and Greek languages," This couldn't be farther from the truth! The scary part is watching the church buy into and push it. It just goes to show how so many of the so called Christian churches today fail to even know what the actual message is! This is another good example of how the church is so willing to compromise. Instead of speaking out against evil we passively sit by and concern ourselves with being politicaly correct and buy into the notion it is unchristian like to confront evil when in fact we should be confronting it in all it's manifestations as it continues to seek and harm us and our beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. The more I see the better I understand just how narrow the gate that few will find and enter in! Matthew 7:13-14 (NASB) 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 7:14 "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. 486 | What does "Edens Dawn Light Mean?" | Heb 2:9 | humbledbyhisgrace | 200953
"The Church needs the unadulterated Word of God even more today!" Amen my Brother! Amen and Amen! Brad, you know why dummying it down works so well? I fear it is because that is what so many want! If there was a better understanding of scripture, nonsense like the message would never sale much less find its way into the church. Yet you find just the opposite. There needs to be men and women of God stand up in their homes and in their local congregations and lead the flock back to the word of God! No compromise! I have had to do battle in my own home and local church on these matters. Many men and woman of God are being deceived. Too many decisions are made in the church without prayer and without spiritual understanding. I have much to learn myself and never would consider myself as one who has mastered anything. But I am amazed every time I have an opportunity to share the word with someone and there reaction to it. It is as profound with Christians as it is with the lost. This always blows my mind! You would expect to here Amen's from the brethren as what they are hearing is not news to them. But the Amen's seem to be few and far between :-( I think it's time we become unpopular in our own congregations (if they are having these problems) and trust in the Lord to work through us to rid the church of the corruption that has crept in and is creeping in at every turn. 488 | What happens to the milk? | Heb 5:14 | humbledbyhisgrace | 155921
Thanks Doc for your reply! I understand the concept. What I want to know is, in the forums opinion, when is someone ready for the meat and what happens to the milk? I guess another way of asking this is, when has a Christian matured enough for the meat and what happens to the milk once one has reached that maturity level? I'm interested in hearing yours and other Christians opinions on this subject. |

489 | Heb6:4-6 Loosing salvation or what? | Heb 6:4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 207550
Imm, Excellent point! John 10:28-29 in fact does not say as you pointed out "it doesn't say we cant walk away." And a follow up point that needs to be made is that John 10:28-29 does not say we can or do either! Verse 28 however does clearly teach that He gave them eternal life and they shall never perish. It doesn't get any clearer then that! Steve |

494 | is salvation is eternal? | James 1:21 | humbledbyhisgrace | 191651
Greetings iusmar! Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! I would encourage you to read the following scriptures for starters 1 Corinthians 2:14, Romans 8:5-8 and Ephesians 2:1-10. As you have presented it, you seem to be pointing to works and to mankind as the source of saving themselves. This is not what the scriptures teach! Steve |

498 | Only One Gospel | 1 Pet 3:18 | humbledbyhisgrace | 202451
“This is the chief aim of the enemy’s assaults—to get rid of Christ, to get rid of the Atonement, to get rid of His suffering in the place of men! They say they can embrace the rest of the Gospel, but what, ‘rest,’ is there? What is there left? A bloodless, Christless Gospel is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill—it neither honors God nor converts the sons of men.” -- Charles Haddon Spurgeon |

500 | Do we get saved by Baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | humbledbyhisgrace | 203807
My Dear Brother, what does the church add in regards to our salvation? And here dear brother, was the church established at this point and what of the three things might we find missing and of what do we find here of the church? Ephesians 2:8-9 (NASB) 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 2:9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Romans 10:9-10 (NASB) 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Am I misunderstanding you? Steve |
