armygrunt- But it depends on whether you want to accept it as truth. Sometimes more difficult passages also just plain depend on faith! Peace- Debbie |

63 | DOES GOD AGREE WITH CREMATION | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 36245
tomn- Cremation is nothing like hell. In Hell you are aware. It is eternal seperation from God. It is total isolation (perhaps you can here the cries and wails of the other damned) and yes, it is a constant burning, as scripture states, but you are never consumed. With cremation, the remains can be treated with respect. This may get some controversy, but when Jesus rose from the dead, He had His physical body but it was transformed. We will be seen as He is when we are called by Him either before death or after. And we will be recognized by others as Samuel was recognized by Saul. I also think all our disfigurements and scars will be washed away at that time, or if they aren't, whey will have no importance, because all we will see is the Savior and the Savior's light in each believer that is with us. 64 | Is God ONE or is God THREE? | James 2:19 | glory777 | 36052
Prove all things- If that is true, then why is the Holy Spirit capitalized? If He is just a power, as electricity is a power, then why was he shown descending as a dove, a seperate entity, over Jesus when He was baptized? It was at this point when all three members of the Trinity were present at the same time. Debbie |

66 | Jesus went to Hell before Resurrection? | Matt 12:40 | glory777 | 32463
Barry- Good thought! I had never thought of it that way. Wuld there also be some tie you can see with the Egyptian darkness and when scripture talks about the darkness God will send in Revelation? Debbie |

67 | Adam and Eve, no fall from grace? | Gen 2:16 | glory777 | 31719
Lionstrong- This may cause more questions, but when God created Adam, didn't He make them in His image? Does God need grace? No, after the fall, that is when man needed grace. Prior to that, I agree, grace was not needed. Am I wrong? Grace is not bestowed if there is no need for it. And thank God He bestows it so generously to us who do! Blessings- Debbie |

68 | Consequences of premarital sex? | 1 Cor 6:16 | glory777 | 28942
Ramifications - knowing you are outside of God's will; carrying a part of that person with you and they having a part of you; memories that are inappropriate; possible disease; decreased respect for you and that partner; bringing the act of sex to a place God did not intend for it to be. Enough? God bless- Debbie |

69 | Do holy people have to speak in tongues? | 1 Cor 12:30 | glory777 | 28941
Searcher- 1 Cor.14:15 does state that no one, in a group of unbelievers, should speak in tongues unless they can interpret. Although this does not specify that those indwelt by the Holy Spirit have all the spiritual gifts, it does show that you CAN have more than one. And you don't get if you don't ask. And you don't ask for the wrong reason. If you have children, you know that you get asked for A LOT! But being a loving parent, you know what is best for that child. And you know when the best time is for giving the child what is needed. Peace. Debbie |

70 | Is this the 'Complete Christian'? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 24567
Lisa- I don't think she did know or understand until it actually happened. When the magi brought the gifts, she pondered it in her heart. I think she tried to raise Him just as any other Jewish boy. I believe she tried to protect Him as she would a boy who would be a king but yet tried to let Him live a life like the other boys. Note her letting HIm be away from her in the caravan. I think she also was amazed at His brilliance with the teacher in the synagogue at 12. But it is supposition that He told her of His death before hand unless it was in the same way He told the apostles. And she may not have even took it in as reality. He couldn't die - He was Messiah - although that was probably secondary to the fact that He was her little boy. She and her other children even tried to get him out of the house He was teaching at because they didn't understand the power He had as being God. Remember, Mary was a peasant girl and probably didn't have a lot of access to the scrolls. I don't believe women in those days even had an education - only very rudimentary. So she could only know what the cheif priests told her and knew how to love God. And that love was enough. |

71 | Is this the 'Complete Christian'? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 24490
Lisa- How do you know that Mary knew before hand that Jesus was going to die before He was conceived? Even the educated Jewish rabbis didn't realize it and sure didn't teach it! The apostles who listened to all that He had to teach didn't even realize what He meant until after the fact. I think if right teaching was applied here, knowing that the veil was torn in the body of Jesus, allowing us intimate access to the Father at any time, without the need of a priest or mediator, the felt need for praying through or to Mary would be eliminated. I agree, she was a model for anyone. It must have been especially painful for her, knowing that her son, whom she loved as much as any mother could love her son, had to die to save her. I think it was also to be noted that she was in the upper room when the Holy Spirit descended like tongues of fire and landed over ALL the occupants of the room. I love her more because she was just like us, only more of what I would hope to be. God's blessings. Debbie |

72 | Please help me to find this out for this | Luke 1:27 | glory777 | 23580
I would go with the idea that Jesus had half brothers. In Matthew 12, where His mother and brothers are anting to so Him and He says "Who is My mother and who is My brother?" - seeing as He meant His real mother I would think He was talking about His real brothers (or I should say half brothers). Just relatives or close friends would not have meaning in this portion of scripture. He was talking about His real family compared to His real earthly family. Do I make sense? Blessings- Debbie |

73 | Satan can't read minds | Jeremiah | glory777 | 23295
I don't believe the bible says Satan can read our minds, but he has been a student of the human race since its creation and knows our weaknesses and where to put the punch. God forgives and then forgets our sins when we repent. Satan will use anything he can to torment us, if he can get by with it. So, although it may appear he can read our minds, he is just using the same tricks he has used throughout the generations of man. Debbie |

74 | What is 666? | Revelation | glory777 | 23290
EdB- No, the bible does not mention computer chips, neither does it say that it will be written on the hand or forehead in indelible ink or tattooed. We just don't know. Even if John was shown one in his vision, how would he describe it? However, the invention of chips gives us just one more possiblility of how it could be done. Revelations also does not mention satelites and TV, but how else could people all over the world see the witnesses lying dead in the street for 3 days and then being taken up? Again, not to say that that is how it is going to be seen, but it gives us one way that it could be possible that was not available not too many years ago. Which brings me to the point - watch and pray!! More things are available in our "natural" world that makes the things written in Revelation something we can imagine happening without using a lot of imagination! Debbie |

75 | Releases from tithing 10 per cent? | 2 Cor 9:7 | glory777 | 22175
Johnny - I also am born-again. And as a reader of the Bible, I see no where that you have to give a certain percentage to "go to Heaven". We all know that the only thing you have to do is to believe that Jesus is Lord and died for our sins, repent and ask Him into our hearts. But we are talking about pleasing Him, not receiving our salvation. Jost to clarify for those who do not understand the way to the Lord. Debbie |

76 | Where is the line? | 2 Cor 9:7 | glory777 | 22173
Johnny- I don't believe that prayon is saying that unless you tithe you are not righteous. I think what sheis saying is that it is a very good guideline. We are released from the law of Moses (Levitical law), but there are good guidelines in it. No, we don't have to keep holy the Sabbath, but it is good to have one day of the week to focus on God and give Him honor. And no, we don't have a dietary law, but it is good to fast with prayer also. I believe that if you are prayerfully considering what to give to the church, what Jesus commended (not COMMANDED), would be over 10 per cent (considering the widow's mite), but I don't see too many people giving all of their yearly income to the church! The amount mentioned most often in scripture is 10 per cent, so as a guideline, I would recommend it. Debbie |

77 | Is there middle ground? | Romans | glory777 | 21772
Nolan- But to what point? If Christ died for the sins only of the elect - how do we know who is the elect? We have to share the gospel, regardless, and know that the Holy Spirit causes conviction and draws people to make a commitment, we don't, and it doesn't matter because our job is to spread the Good News to all we come in contact with. If Christ's blood covered the sins of the whole world, what does it matter - we are to do the same anyway. The only difference would be if we KNEW who the elect was so we could only witness to them (and not waste out energy and time on the others) - but then, if Christ died only for THEIR sins, wouldn't they come to the knowledge without our help? Too complicated for me- I just know that MY job is tell the gospel when I can and to be thankful that the Lord gave me the opportunity to hear it and the Holy Spirit for causing me to realize how much I needed Jesus' blood to cover me! God bless you, brother! Debbie |

78 | Women teaching or in authority | 1 Timothy | glory777 | 21632
Nolan- Seems to me that Mary was a very common name in those days, just as Jesus was. Unless specified, we can't KNOW that she was the adulteress who was forgiven. I agree that she was probably a different Mary altogether and the fact that it says that she was with the other women, followers and supporters of Jesus puts her with a group of women who would probably have lost their physical appeal on the street corner! (Sorry to all of you in that age group - myself incuded!) I don't think we are to add to scripture what it doesn't say. But she is such an example that no matter where we come from in life, Jesus can forgive, deliver, save and use us - no matter what age or social circumstance. Debbie |

79 | Magicians, frogs, blood? | Ex 8:7 | glory777 | 21290
Greetings and blessings to you, VillaSanJuan! It is not an easy journey, following Jesus, but well worth it. Tim, I think I also agree with Ed that it could have had a lot to do with Satan wanting to eliminate the Jews and so empowered the magicians. He knew Jesus would be born of the Jews and all through history he tried to stop that from happening, from Herod killing the baby boys, through Jesus' temptation up to His death. If he could keep Pharoah from letting the Israelites go, all of the future would have been changed. Good possibility, don't you think? Debbie |

80 | Muselim Religious | Eph 2:8 | glory777 | 21285
Schwartzkm- The growth of numbers of religions differing from Christianity shouldn't be a surprise. I know that Christianity is spreading at a great pace, also. However, Jesus stated that there would be few that would enter the "narrow gate", and we know that means even those who call themselves Christian but do not know the true meaning of the word. I count myself blessed to be given that faith to receive Jesus as my Savior and it is up to us to show people what it means to be a true Christian - even though we will never be the majority and it may mean all kinds of persecution in these days and in the days to come. Keep walking in faith, brother. Debbie |
