I am not a new believer. As a matter of fact I have been a part of the kingdom since April of 1978. I hold a liscense and ordaination from the SBC. These don't really mean much but that man has a system that I don't mind submitting to. I still don't believe in the person of the antichrist. I have a real problem with the "fear based" teaching that pervades the church today. Why do we insist on teaching people that the reason we evangelize is to have fire insurance? We are still stuck in the same mentality that the disciples had even after Jesus' resurrection, when they still were hung up on the physical attributes of "the kingdom of God". This idea is what permeates the rapture and apocalyptic teachings that exist. When Jesus speaks to his followers in Matt.24 and says to them that their generation will not pass..for some reason we don't believe him...because we are still looking for a future event. Look into human history and you will see that everything that Jesus said would happen in those guys lifetime did happen, if not would he not be a "false prophet". And HE is not a false prophet! It's hard for believers to see that the kingdom has come because they believe the "great tribulation" must come first. OF course, they don't want to be here for that, so they want to make their hasty exit out of here. Expecting Matt24 and Luke7 to be fulfilled in the future prevents them from seeing that the kingdom came in Acts 2. Jesus said "I won't drink wine wiwth you again until I drink it anew with you in the kingdom" On the day of Pentecost , they tasted wine that had never been drunk before and they toasted the king and the coming of the kingdom. The kingdom is not meat and dring, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. So, receiving the Holy Ghost gives us the kingdom potential to walk in the kingdom! The kingdom of God came in power! "The big, bad wolf" teaching would us believe that we go thru seven years of tribulation or escape it..."are you pre-trib, mid-trib or post-trib?"...Fact is there is "no-trib"! Only in America is the escapist theology important. Try telling believers in India, China, Russia and other parts of this globe that they will not go thru tribulation. It is a slap in the face of Christ's on words.."In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good courage, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD!!!" John 16:33. I would love to continue..but my fingers are getting tired, maybe I will write more another time...but I would challenge anyone to look at historical records and compare with what Christ said in the gospels and line them up with other prophetic scripture...the surprising fact is that it has all taken place...WE DON'T NEED TO FOLLOW CHIRST OUT OF FEAR BUT FREEDOM..WE SHOULD SHARE THE GOSPEL BECAUSE IT BRINGS LIFE NOW ABUNDANT NOT FIRE INSURANCE..THERE IS SO MUCH MORE I WILL SHARE AT ANOTHER TIME. |

I appreciate your concern but please understand that I do not discount the devil, I choose to believe what the word says..He was completely destroyed by the work of the cross (Col.2:15) Our resistance of the devil is from a view of total victory. Jesus verifies this idea in the model prayer when he states we pray "lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one". WE find that Jesus emphasis is on the security we have when we address God as deliverer. I see so many believers who live a life where they focus on the devil more than they do God. The ground we give him is our doing. James says to "resist the devil and he will flee from you." Remember the only thing the enemy is "as a roaring lion". He is Defeated! Why should we fear? Jesus placed ALL AUTHORITY AND POWER in us when He comes to take up residence in us. Does Jesus fear Satan?

I take no offense on anything stated by another. I'm cool with differing opinions. I will answer your question about my foundation though. I believe in the blood of Jesus as the once for all sacrifice for all my sin...yesterday, today and forever. I believe Jesus defeated Satan on the cross, completely destroyed him. I believe the kingdom of God came on the day of Pentecost and that we are in the process of living life to the fullest in Christ. I serve Christ from the position that HE has good news for a lost world. I believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I am not looking for the beast or antichrist..fact is if I am wrong, I know that I will make it through whatever happens. You see I believe in living victorously. Years ago I heard said that talk of dying for Christ was silly talk especially when all too often those who talk about such things don't live for HIM....i.e. IF YOU DON'T LIVE FOR HIM WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU'LL DIE FOR HIM.. |

bradK, i think we are saying the same thing..I just choose to focus on the "STAND" aspect of Eph. and other places in the word. I do not underestimate our opponent, however all he can do is "scheme" and "roar"...because HE IS DEFEATED! JESUS is above all...Nothing can seperate us from Him...Greater is He that is in us...We are more than conquerors...I think we tend to focus on the negative and usually live that out as a result victorously HIS, c marengo |

kalos, I gather from your writing that the evil seen in this world, especially death (you ref. Acts and Foxe's) are the working of Satan. I have a question...is death our enemy? think about it, c marengo |

6 | antichrist | Luke 10:27 | c marengo | 125014
has not "death" been destroyed by Christ on the cross?...HE holds to the keys to death, hell and the grave...grave where is your victory, death where is your sting. DEATH is only an enemy to those that have not died to self and come alive in Christ. C marengo

wtb, position and experience may differ but which is true? fact or faith? If for any reason I am around when "the antichrist" comes, I don't fret because I know that Christ lives in me and fact is I can do all things thru Him who strengthens me. You ask does the devil affect my life? The bigger question is does the spirit affect my life? Paul says that those who walk by the spirit don't fulfill the lust of the flesh. Most of the "battles" we deal with are inward issues, issues of the spirit controlled life. The tribulation issue...look I'm sorry but all I can say about that issue is try to tell the millions and millions of believers who have shed their blood in the Sudan, china, India, Russia, etc. that they will not face "tribulation". American christianity is the main proponent of the escapist idea of the rapture. I teach and live...LIFE IN CHRIST. And by the way, I have been baptized in the Holy Ghost and walk daily in that baptism with the evidence of tongues.. I thank you for your prayers, cmarengo |

tim, thanks for your response... "What happens if..." What someone may experience and what is true may often run in opposition. Consider the fact that Jesus says that no one can remove us from His hands, Pauls says nothing can separate us from the love of God..yet we see people who seem to walk away from Him daily. Does their experience nullify the truth? I mention OT refs..yes and as Hebrews states these were given for us as shadows. We can look at the OT and learn. The victory is for the taking all we have to do is act upon it. The NT scriptures given as "warnings" are for us to learn and live..too often I see believers struggle from a defeated standpoint. Eph.4 states before verse27..."put off the concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness" Eph.4:22-24 What do we emphasize? If we focus on the new man, renewing daily the mind...how can "the devil" touch us? What if they don't put on the full armor? How can anyone go half way? Look at the armor of God..belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, helmet of peace, sword of the spirit, shield of faith, shoes of the gospel...who is truth? who is our righteousness? who is our peace? who is the spirit? who is the source of faith? who is the gospel? How can anyone truly just take on Jesus partially? Is it possible? How many ministries has Satan ruined? James says that we sin due to being drawn away of our own lust..James 1:13-15 Why do we put off on the devil what God has left in our hands to control? If we walk by the spirit we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.Gal.5:16 Truth is Tim I do not focus my attention on "Satan", I don't see in scriptue where we are encouraged to do so...I do see the focus on the words ability to renew my mind, direct my life and touch the world for the glory of God. Proponent of 'dominion' theology? I might be... Question is...am I still your brother? Your brother in Christ, c marengo |

Hi, Steve..we are so locked into the physical aspect of life. Paul said absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. How is that death?
11 | antichrist | Luke 10:27 | c marengo | 125084
thanks for the response, WTB.. Well, I guess that you can tell from my writings that my view of "end things" is quite different from what much of the church teaches. We have had such a long time of the teaching about the dispensations, rapture, anitchrist, etc. from the futuristic view that it is engrained in our thinking. Daniel, Ezekiel, Matt.24, IThess., Rev. all must refer to things to come about..I simply do not hold that view any longer. You can do the math...and figure what my beliefs concerning these things are... If we can look honestly at existant human history we can see where all the prophecies have come about... Tim, good point..no problem.. Paul uses the term "slave of Christ", a slave can never say no to his master..how can a true believer disobey the command of his master? |

Steve, think about this...when stephen was stoned, right in the midst of that persecution the Bible describes his dieing as "sleep". Paul uses this same reference idea in some of his writings. Why would it be described as sleep. Think about...what happens in the natural when we fall asleep, we always wake up...what I see in this concept is that death, ie sleep is just a different state of life...I sleep, I wake up...I die, I live...to live is Christ, to die is gain. It is appointed to man, once to die...as a believer we only truly die once, that is when we reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive in Christ. I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ lives in me and the life that I now live is by faith in the son of God who loved and gave himself up for me. We are already dead..yet we live..but not our lives..His life in us..ergo the name Christian (little christ, christ like).. c marengo |
