801 | help me with 3 historical everts in mark | Mark | azurelaw | 194628
Dear Cantymantwo, Sorry for my late reply. Please see below commentary I have got so far. In addition, I would like to go further a bit to Chapter 2 v 7 in contrasting the blindness of the Pharisees’ with that even the devils know who Jesus is. Just my 2 cents. --------- v. 24 ……I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God: he whom God had called his Holy One, Psalm 16:10, and who is so, both in his divine nature, as the Son of God, the Holy One of Israel; and as the Son of man, being the holy thing born of the virgin, and is without the least stain of original sin, or blemish of actual transgression; and also as the mediator, whom the Father has sanctified and sent into the world, the true Messiah; and all this the devil knew from his wonderful incarnation, by the voice from heaven at his baptism, from the conquest over him in the wilderness, and by the miracles he had already wrought: in the high priest's mitre was written, hwhyl vdwq, which may be rendered, "the Holy One of the Lord": the high priest was an eminent type of him. Verse 31. And he came and took her by the hand,.... He went into the room where she lay, and took hold of her hand; not to feel her pulse, and thereby judge of the nature and strength of her disorder, as physicians do; nor merely in a friendly manner, as is customary, but in order to restore her: and lift her up; to sit upright in the bed, who before was laid along upon it, so weak as not to be able to turn herself, much less to sit erect by any assistance whatever: and immediately the fever left her: and there was not the least symptom of it, nor none of the effects which it usually leaves; such was the virtue that went forth from Christ by touching her, and such his great power…… Verse 34. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases,.... Not that there were some, who had some sorts of diseases, whom he did not heal; but he healed all that came, or were brought to him, which were many, of every sort of disease, which were divers, with which they were afflicted: and cast many devils; even as many as were brought to him, or were possessed with any: and he suffered not the devils to speak; either for him, or against him; which shows his great power over them: because they knew him, or "that they knew him": he would not suffer them to say a word about him, because he knew that they knew that he was the Christ, the Son of God, or he would not permit them to say who he was; because he had others to bear witness of him, and better testimonies than theirs, and lest his enemies should reproach him with an agreement and familiarity with them. Verse 41. And Jesus, moved with compassion,.... At the sad and deplorable case the poor man was in, being a merciful high priest, and not with a desire of popular applause, and vain glory: put forth his hand and touched him; though the leprosy was spread all over him, and there was no place clean, and touching him was forbidden by the law: and saith unto him, I will be thou clean; See Gill on "Mt 8:3." - John Gill’s Exposition To read more, please go to http://eword.gospelcom.net/comments/mark/gill/mark1.htm |

Dear Tiffy, Thank you for your clarification. What a blessing it is to have a companion studying the bible together. Hope both you and ASMITH enjoy the forum. Psalm 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron's beard, It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing--life forever. Cheri, I think, if space allow, quoting from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 wouldn't be a bad idea in answering every post and every topic. :-) Azure |

Oh, Cheri, Just relax a little bit. You say: I have been born-again probably longer than you've been alive.... I cannot rest my belief on your age unless I have got proof from both of you. But I do believe that you are more spiritually mature. :-) Shalom Azure |

808 | Romans 5:6-8 how it shows Gods love | Rom 5:6 | azurelaw | 194174
Dear Anne (Canawedding), I do agree that every BELIEVER should seek (by the guidance of the Holy Spirit) the kingdom and righteousness of God as taught in Mat 6:33 and this verse has a wide application, too. However, we must also understand it according to the context where, why and to whom Jesus was speaking to. When you use it to prove that God's love is not unconditional as you say : The very beginning of salvation has everything to do with Mt 6:33, I hardly agree to it. You cannot ignore the those preceding verses especially Jesus was contrasting the audience with the Gentile (see v 32) in concern with their worries, wants and needs. How can a sinner be able to seek God's kingdom and righteousness as scripture clearly says that "there is none who seeks the God" (Rom 3:10-12) and in Roman 5 clearly indicated that we (while we were sinners) are helpless and enemies of God deserving His wrath and punishment. God's unconditional love has been proved in verse 8. Isn't it clearly written in Ephesian 2 that we are all in the passive part. Nothing we can do to be saved. Please pray God to shed His light on you to GUIDE you seek His kingdom and righteousness first (Mat 6:33). It is not you to take the active part, please pray and let God do His work on you. Shalom Azure |

Dear Eddie, Welcome to the forum. Thank you very much for your loving kindness shown to the forum users. Dear PutGodFirst, I cannot imagine how a parent could speak ill (even that is true) of his/her son/daughter in public or vice versa. I think you have to pray fervently for God to help you remedy your relationship with your son, and attending their wedding could be a chance for it. Mat 5:38-48 Mat 9:13 Rom 12:14 (we are required to even bless our adversaries, how much should we bless our son or daughter despite their follies!) Shalom Azure |

811 | Why are we accused of blaming God? | Rom 9:21 | azurelaw | 194030
Dear Miller, You say: If God was in full control, why did he give them a choice? Do you mean that God has no full control? You say : However, give God the glory when you were attacked with Cancer and he healed your body, thats when he will get the glory. Do you mean that God can be glorified only if the cancer is healed? Thanks for your clarification and elaboration. Shalom Azure |

814 | what i personally think | Acts 2:38 | azurelaw | 193807
Dear Searcher, Good argument! The end do not usually reveal the cause. Just quote an old post of mine (183359) in support. "There are in fact cases of people receiving baptism for certain motives. To quote a real case I experienced, many years ago, a good friend of mine had herself and her daughter baptized into Catholic. She admitted that her purpose was to get a better chance (or an advantage) for her daughter to enter into a famous Catholic school. She went to church purposely with her daughter during the period of such arrangement, but never before or after the baptism was done. I felt so sad and worried about her for such cheating. I also know that it is only a corner of the iceberg in our society." Shalom Azure |

815 | Why did God hate Esau? Romans 9:13 | Mal 1:3 | azurelaw | 193721
Dear Maxpower, You say: So a millennium and a half later WHEN GOD LOOKED BACK (caps are my emphasis) on the outworking of both this blessing and curse... Could you please elaborate more on what do you mean by "when God looked back"? Your statement gives me the impression that God has to wait till He finds the need to look back on certain outcomes before He delivers His guidances. Perhaps I have misunderstood you. Thank you for your clarification. Shalom Azure |

Dear Andrew, I am sorry that I did not express myself in a straight forward manner. I am not saying you are plagiarizing anyone's work or question. My such question was intended to draw your thought on your question : A friend told me it's ust satan's copy of what od can really do. So isn't a coy of something good still good? The issue is not copying something out of something that is good will still be good, what Satan does is to plagiarize (in some sense) and steal the credits and honour of our most high God. He wants to be God. That's why I quoted Ex 20:3 for your reference. And with your agreeing the unlawful behaviour of plagiarism, you have answered your own question instead. :-) Hope I have explained it clear. Shalom Azure P.S. Glad to learn that you are upto the age requirement. Keep posting so that we can learn together. Hope you enjoy the forum. |

Dear yonder--, A belated warm welcome to the forum. Thank you for providing us with your background. Do you know that there is a user profile function provided by the Lockman for us to fill in our personal information that we want to disclose? This serves us with the advantage that we can read about the user's background whenever it is possible and available. By the way, you said : "...NIV is a major revision with many INTERESTING (caps for my emphasis) new notes by J Kohlenberger III...", my concern is on your comments about "interesting" and I hope what you meant is inclusive of biblically sounded thoughts. Hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |
