783 | Where does Cain's wife come from? | OT general | azurelaw | 195691
nightmare, I agree with sister Cheri. You cannot just take the scripture out of its context. Let the scripture explain for itself. Most of the time, you have to also make comparison between chapters. I don't see the reason why we cannot continue to chapter 4 without fully understanding chapter 3. You have to understand that the division of chapters was not in the original writing. You are only partially right that sin in the garden was not the matter of the fruit (again, you are making a mistake - it has never ever mentioned it an apple), the sin was their disobedient to God's command (see Gen 3:17 - "...because you have listened to the voice of your wife.."). Your presumption (or even twisting the scripture) that Eve was sexually seduced by satan is totally out of context. People believe Cain is the son of Adam because IT IS CLEARLY WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE (Gen 4:1). Please stop making any speculations and fancying things for your own answer. By the way, you don't have a strong biblical support to your such notion. Please re-read the terms of use: You must abide by the following rules in connection with your use of the Forums: * Postings must be Biblically based and not opposing the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura), Christianity, or the deity of Jesus Christ. 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. Dear it is written, A warm welcome to the family of God. I am excited to see God's gracious protection on you from the JW. Paul was an amazing fruit of the Holy Spirit. I believe he must be in an extremely deep grief in his conversion during the 3 days blindness (Act 9:9). Our almight God is so awesome!!! Paul's life reminds me of the below verse: Luke 7:47 "For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little." May you be blessed in your study of the Holy Word. Shalom Azure |

Dear Eddie, Welcome to the forum. You are responding to a post in 2004 and the poster has not been active since then. I doubt you will get a reply from the user. It would be always advisable that you back up your post with adequate scriptural reference. By the way, can you elaborate more on "...see things from God's point of view" and how it is done? Thank you. Hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

787 | during the 3 days? | Matthew | azurelaw | 195363
Dear Michael, I would agree with brother Jesusman's answer (both his post 195348 and 195359) to you. The below commentary from John Gill provides the same insights as to why Jesus told Mary not to touch him. "Verse 17. Jesus saith unto her, touch me not,.... Not that his body was an aerial one, or a mere "phantom," which could not be touched; the prohibition itself shows the contrary; and besides, Christ's body was afterwards presented to Thomas, to be touched by him, and to be handled by all the disciples; and his feet were held by the women, which is what Mary would have now done: upon the discovery of him, she threw herself at his feet, and was going to embrace and kiss them, to testify her affection and joy, when she is forbid; not as unworthy of the favour, because she sought him among the dead, for which the angels reproved her and the rest; but either because he was not to be conversed with, as before his death, his body being raised immortal and glorious; or rather, because he had an errand to send her on to his disciples, which required haste; nor need she stay now to show her respect to him, since she would have opportunity enough to do that, before his ascension..." 788 | Theology of Glory versus the Cross | 2 Tim 3:13 | azurelaw | 195185
Dear Cheri, Yes cheri, on one hand (as per our human mind) it would be a better choice for those (unbelieve) to sit busy at "playing church" (as you term it). On the other hand, the danger lies behind it would be those that who sit so well and feeling good at church might not realize their own sin for they could have been decieved. They might have created a good self-feeling within their acitivities at church - I am no more a sinner. On the contrary, those (dealing drugs, robbing, etc.) who deemed to be so much inferior to the seemed to be holy congregation, I doubt they would regard themselves have anything in association with holiness or righteousness, etc. I believe the story depicted in Luke 7:36-50 in contrasting Simon, the Pharisee and the sinner woman has addressed my point. 789 | Theology of Glory versus the Cross | 2 Tim 3:13 | azurelaw | 195181
Dear Cheri, I have no intention to equate Osteens to the below descriptions. I just wanted to respond to what you said in the second paragraph in concern with deception and God's Godly purpose. Proverb 16:4 The LORD has made everything for its own purpose, even the wicked for the day of evil. quote ... the work of the devil coming as an angel of light to deceive....their sincerity did not absolve them of their pernicious errors. The fact was that they were serving the interests of the devil and not of Christ no matter how sincere they may or may not have been. This is a critical fact that bears reemphasizing. Sincerity is no substitute for truth. A man can be full of sincerity at the same time he is busy spreading the devil’s dangerous lies through the household of faith. Well-intentioned, but misled people too often overlook this fact and therefore refuse to judge the doctrine and practices of those men who claim to speak for Christ. This is precisely the attitude that Satan relies on to keep his cunning lies and false gospels undetected. His clever substitutes thrive in such an environment. This is why the apostle John commanded his hearers to: '…do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.' (1John 4:1 NASV). Dan Norcini unquote Shalom Azure |

796 | is it okay to have sex before preaching | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 194928
Dear pberardi, First of all, welcome to the forum. In your previous post, you said : However it is a personal belief that a pastor should be single... Could you please show me the scripture that requires a pastor single as I cannot find such relevant verse. What I have found is 1 Cor 7:1-7 where Paul addressed his personal preference to be single. Be a person married or single, it is God's GIFT (verse 7). Another verse found in 1 Cor 7:25 Now concerning virgins I have no command of the Lord, but I give an opinion as one who by the mercy of the Lord is trustworthy. Paul stated that that (from v25-40) was not a command of the Lord. But he shared his opinion with the believers. Back to my understanding concerning Adam and Eve, I agree with you that God does not want Adam to be alone (Gen 2:18), but we should not forget the following verses especially v21-24. v24 ...be joined to his wife; and they shall BECOME ONE FLESH. (my emphasis in caps) I believe a married believer can still devote himself/herself to God if he/she follows what Paul has taught in Eph 5:22-33 and of course His Word. Should I have misunderstood anything, I am open to correction. Shalom Azure |

798 | does God intend for us to pay tithes | Malachi | azurelaw | 194713
Dear Miller, I would say that instead of preaching the end result or reward brought to us when we give / tithe, I'd rather focus on the greatest reward that has been given to us already by Saviour Jesus Christ. What can we expect more but just Jesus himself. Shalom Azure |

799 | does God intend for us to pay tithes | Malachi | azurelaw | 194707
Dear Miller, I have read your post. If I understand it correctly, "seed of faith" usually involves monetary tithing (please correct me if I am wrong), and here are my understanding in concern with the scriptures you quoted: Luke 6:38 The context of the scripture does not talk about tithing. You can trace back to v30 and onward, it talks about how we should show our mercy and kindness to people. Luke 18:28-30 This also does not address the sense of tithing but Jesus requires his followers to be self-sacrifice (Rom 12:1). 2 Cor 9:6-8 The key verse should be "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver" This is pretty clear that it is not a must to tithe. (but of course a true christian could never use it as an excuse for not tithing). For Mal 3:10, I am sorry I need to dig further to it. However, it seems to me from what you have quoted here are pretty much out of the context, which is not an appropriate method of bible study. I believe that is how the "seed-faith" derived from the WOF that the teachers picking a scripture here and there in support of their movement and their focus on the reward. I believe it is dangerous, too. Believer will be led to focus on the result and their faith will be so much tied to the outcome thus limiting (within their own mind) God's grace as in the result-oriented aspect. Hope I have adressed my points clear. Shalom Azure |

Dear Miller, You say : I believe in seed-faith, and what you quoted has never come out of my mouth. Stop slandering, its really bad. Yes, I respect your own attitude toward what you believe as in the seed-faith issue. However, I don't understand why you take it as a personal attack since brother Hank was not saying what he quoted came out of your mouth. He was just responding to Tim's post. The preceding posts along the thread shows no signs of your earlier post on the issue. Do you think it is fair to accuse someone who takes no part in dialogue with you for any personal attack against you? By the way, things that does not come out of your mouth does not mean that it never exists. I believe you do not murder, but does the act of murder exist as being performed by someone? Shalom Azure |
