362 | How did the atmosphere of persecution af | NT general | azurelaw | 213444
You asked the same question as Rose53 did. Are you classmates? :-) We do not encourage doing homework for anyone on the forum. However, our long time user Makarios has been so kind to provide one in his post 213397. Hope this is helpful for you. Mind you that you may risk yourself bearing the same answer as Rose53's...thus, cheating????? 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. Shalom Azure |

363 | naming and subordination | Gen 3:20 | azurelaw | 213443
Dear Pastor Beja, I thank you so much for the fine answer. I do hope that my question triggers gracious discussion for edification instead of pointless or unproductive debate which is never my intent. I thank God for giving you the wisdom and grace in helping me to clarify my doubts on the subject which I had come across with an article brought to me for translation sometime ago. You have been a blessing to the forum and I look forward to reading more of your fine posts in future. Shalom Azure |

364 | Did God bless the beasts as well | Gen 1:25 | azurelaw | 213428
Dear Cheri, Sorry for such a late reply to your post...so much (both physically and mentally) occupied by the Lunar New Year things :-) Things are getting back to normal now, I hope :-) I think both you and MJH had made the point well but still we (maybe it's just I) lack clear scriptural evidence. MJH's proposing the consideration of the Hebrew text could be helpful, then, I need someone to help on this aspect :-) Or maybe I just take it at face value since it is pretty trivial after all. Shalom Azure |

365 | naming and subordination | Gen 3:20 | azurelaw | 213426
Dear Beja, It's good to see your post again and thank you for your input. Am I reasonable and in biblical sense that God has already granted Adam such superiority or authority before the fall when He created man (first) and woman (later), and only after the woman's being tempted and sinned, through His sentence of punishment, the ruling authority was made or proclaimed explicitly? Would the degree of authority differ according to the setting or context, i.e. private domain or public domain? Thanks again for your further insights. Shalom Azure P.S. I don't quote the scripture at this point as those you have used are applicable in our discussion. |

366 | naming and subordination | Gen 3:20 | azurelaw | 213425
Now, I see your point though it seemed a bit side-tracked from my intended question. No, I am not advocating that Adam possessed that power in him. I agree completely that all powers are originated from God, nothing else. Thanks again for the nice discussion:-) Shalom Azure |

Dear keliy, Thank you for your input. Much appreciated. Concerning the "ruling", I refer to v3:16b "...Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he will rule over you." God said this after they ate the forbidden fruit not before. If this does not render the idea of ruling power, how should we interpret this verse. Or should it be understood together with preceding one that the desire and love of the woman for her husband naturally posits the ruling power from the man over her? By the way, your point about God's relationship with the first-born (first animals and Adam) is helpful. Thanks. Shalom Azure P.S. Just to clarify, I am NOT a feminist :-) |

370 | What hope do we have, but His Mercy | Ps 6:4 | azurelaw | 213395
"For thy mercies' sake." What a plea that is! How prevalent it is with God! If we turn to justice, what plea can we urge? but if we turn to mercy we may still cry, notwithstanding the greatness of our guilt, "Save me for thy mercies' sake." --- C.H. Spurgeon |

Dear lissamz, "Feelings come, and feelings go, but feelings are deceiving, I trust alone in the Word of God, nothing else is worth believing." --Martin Luther I truly wish you be blessed with the Holy Word abundantly. I mean no disrespect, when I carefully read the lyrics of most contemparory so-call worshipper song, I always find them either lacking the support from scripture or sugar-coated with false concept. Since the melody easily gets into and stays on our mind together with the lyrics, we have to be very careful about the message and the hidden idea. For the one you cited, not only that it streses so much on one's feeling, I also have problem with the last 2 lines for it looks like putting our Lord and Saviour to the lowest priority :-( Matt 16:24 Stay around and let us grow together :-) Shalom Azure |

374 | lest by any means they exalt themselves | James 1:2 | azurelaw | 212939
Dear Brother John, Thank you so much for the quote. I don't remember since when I started meditating the Gospel (Christ and His Cross) daily. Every time I do the meditation, I am in awe and can never be untouched by its power - the power that changes a believer's heart continuously, the power that makes the commandments meaningful to me (over-ruling the legalistic and moralistic proponents on the pulpit), the power that draws my focus on Christ that I am completely insignificant. I have received the below beautiful quote recently and would like to share it with you. "Keep your heart, O believer, much beneath the cross, your conscience in frequent and close contact with the blood, and the slightest touch of sin will make you restless and unhappy until you have confessed, and God has forgiven. This is the secret -- which, alas! few see, or care to know -- of preserving the garments white amid pollution, the mind serene amid turmoil, the heart happy amid sorrow, the life radiant and transparent as the sun, and the spirit, temper, and carriage Christ-loving, and Christ-like. Oh the wonders of the precious blood of Christ! Who can exalt it too highly, adore it too profoundly, love, magnify, and honor it too deeply and exclusively? Will it not constitute the theme of our study, the burden of our song, and the source of our bliss as ages roll on, and never cease to roll? Beloved, the surprise then will be, that here below we should have prized it so little, traveled to it so infrequently, and glorified it so imperfectly, and have regarded it with an affection so fickle and so cold!" --Octavius Winslow Psalm 25:5 Shalom Azure |

375 | Was Abraham a Jew | Genesis | azurelaw | 212909
How would you come to the conclusion that Adam was the first Jew? He is the first ancestor of all human races. Please carefully study the book of Genesis again before you may respond to any relevant questions on the forum. I see all your answers given in your posts lacking scriptural support. Please read the Terms of Use of the forum so that you may know about the guidelines of posting. Thanks. Shalom Azure |

380 | TRUE HEART OF WORSHIP | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 212761
Dear Val, Great! Thank you. I made the post in haste before going out and just could remember the worship in Revelation. My mind was set on the idea about a broken heart caused by experiencing worldly sufferings which gave me the feeling of self-centreness. Actually I should double check with this beautiful Psalm. So good to have you on the forum. You always correct my mistakes :-) Thanks for your love. Shalom Azure |
