481 | Who constitutes the church? | Eph 4:3 | Val | 206053
I am a Southern Baptist. My mother and I attended Missionary Baptist since birth, although the description I have read in some places really does not fit the description of our church. We have always been in the SBC. After mother passed away, after years being out of church I returned to Southern Baptist church. That church split, started a new church (not me) but with them and it grew to about 450 members. Got tired of the fights over the music and use of hymnals or music on screens. Went to a church close to my home, band and all. Got to where the music was hurting my ears so we find ourselves at a closeby Nazarene church. I read their statement of faith but hard for me to figure out if I could stay there. Just trying it out. When your born and breed Southern Baptist its hard to go somewhere else. What is synergistic soteriology? Personal perfectionism - I try to obey Christ, is that sufficient? As I said all the churches in my area are in upheaval - I am sure you read about the Jerry Sutton saga. Its hard to find a good fit. We are comfortable at the Nazarene church but are not involved, wanted to find out if we will stay first. I would appreciate your prayers. Blessings Val

Thank you Brother Tim, I will definately read it and try to understand it. Did you see my questions on the illustrations of the three people I was asking about in a previous post? I was waiting to hear what you said about those examples? Its been a couple days ago. If you have time I would like to hear what you have to say. Real life experiences is sometimes clearer to me when applying scripture. Thanks, Val

Dear Jim, Bible students may sincerely differ on some doctrinal issues. In the case of "Soul Sleep" (or Conditional Immorality) it is our position that the doctrine contradicts the balanced survey of New Testament teachings, and especially the Words of Jesus. - Tal Davis, NAMB, SBC, Website 4truth.net |

Your most welcome. In my study today in Hebrews I came across an interesting couple of verses. They are Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, Heb 6:2 of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment. I am excited to find out the context and purpose for these verses further in my study. Blessings - Val |

Colt, we are to submit to those who offer this free service. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. When a person, no matter who they are, differs on the clear meaning of scripture, it is our duty to defend. Again and again we have tried in a loving way to show you that your doctrine is historically incorrect. Lets just get back to our personal bible study and put off this line of comments until a later date won't you. I see no benefit in making personal attacks. Lets have peace now. Thank you

Yes I provided a complete passage in Ecclesiates. Chapter 3 - A time for Everything. You may also search the posts regarding "War". There are scriptures references there. When you say I have little faith, that is offensive. What kind of a reaction would you give to someone who told you that? I never said it was ok to lie. I said there are violent crime situations where I would lie if it was for a greater good. Please stop. |

The Bible and “Race” The Bible does not even use the word race in reference to people, but it does describe all human beings as being of “one blood” (Acts 17:26). This of course emphasizes that we are all related, as all humans are descendants of the first man, Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45), who was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26–27).16 The Last Adam, Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:45) also became a descendant of Adam. Any descendant of Adam can be saved because our mutual relative by blood (Jesus Christ) died and rose again. This is why the gospel can (and should) be preached to all tribes and nations. - Answers in Genesis "The Bible and Race" |

Dear Jeff, These people at AnswersinGenesis.org have studied it far more than myself; that is why I listed their website for anyone who wants to pursue the subject; you can search their site for different articles. Humankind includes all peoples and colors and we are not animals though some act like it sometimes. We have different nations; is that what you are thinking of? But we all come from Adam and then from Noah's family. So if you find any scriptures I would like to see them. I was just answering a question that in my studies I have never came upon "race" in the bible. Nations yes but not race. Its not an issue with me. In other words I have to pick the things I am passionate about because of time limitations. I hope you understand. Blessings, Val |

Hello Jeff, taking each passage seperately starting with Ezra 9:2 Now when these things had been completed, the princes approached me, saying, "The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, according to their abominations, those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians and the Amorites. 2 "For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race[1][Lit seed ] has intermingled with the peoples of the lands; indeed, the hands of the princes and the rulers have been foremost in this unfaithfulness." 3 When I heard about this matter, I tore my garment and my robe, and pulled some of the hair from my head and my beard, and sat down appalled. 4 Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel on account of the unfaithfulness of the exiles gathered to me, and I sat appalled until the evening offering. The word "race" is in the literal "seed" 1) seed, sowing, offspring 1a) a sowing 1b) seed 1c) semen virile 1d) offspring, descendants, posterity, children 1e) of moral quality 1e1) a practitioner of righteousness (fig.) 1f) sowing time (by meton) The NIV does use the word in two places. However, in Ezra 9:2 the Hebrew is literally ‘seed,’ and in Romans 9:3 the phrase ‘those of my own race’ is, in the original Greek, literally ‘my relatives according to the flesh’ (KJV: ‘my kinsmen according to the flesh’). Answersingenesis - The Bible does not even use the word ‘race’ in reference to people,(footnote 8) but does describe all human beings as being of ‘one blood’ (Acts 17:26). This, of course, emphasizes that we are all related, for all humans are descendants of the first man Adam (1 Cor. 15:45). Here is what I found - it still says we are all from Adam. What point are you making? My point is that we are all descendants of Adam. Many nations came from Adam. The pecularities of race is something that was developed by Darwin which has (many think) been a bad thing. They make out some races to be inferior to others. What I am saying is this was not God's intent because Genesis says Adam was made in the image of God. He, in my opinion, was created with the DNA that makes people different but we are all equal in God's site; something that man has perverted with his theory of evolution. This passage in Ezra seems to show the moral lack and pagan religion of the "ites". This is why they were not to intermarry because they did not worship the true God as the "holy seed" - Israel did. Key phrase here "according to their abominations" I really don't know what we are discussing - what is your point? That race is in the bible? Blessings, Val |
