101 | age limit of 120 years after Noah's sons | Gen 6:3 | Val | 213663
Dear MJH: I looked up this verse and instead of abide it says strive. I have always heard this verse used with the convicting of God's spirit upon sin. Also that if one turns away from God when this convicting occurs that the persons heart becomes harder and harder so that he does not sense that conviction thus stays in his sin. We know that the flood came when Noah finished building the ark. I am thinking God gave them longer than 120 years before the flood. Reading Genesis 6 it says that all men were corrupt except Noah. God pronounced judgement on them and saved Noah. I interpret it to mean man would get 120 years instead of the hundreds he had previously and it was a gradual shortening of years. I am wondering if we are supposed to live to 120 on an average? Isn't the average now about 80? Sincerely, Val

You and you son can take a concordance and look up the word God and in every verse where the word God is used, turn to that verse in the bible. You with your son read the verse and the verses surrounding that verse asking the question who is talking, who is He talking to, where is He, why does He say this, what will be the results, how does this occur. Ask these type questions of the text and ask if there are any lessons for your life. Also most important pray with your son first then look up a verse. Make it a goal to complete one verse a day.

107 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Val | 214918
It may have been because Abraham wanted to know how it was that God would bless all the families of the earth through his seed as promised in genesis 12:3. John 8:56 may refer to Abraham's understanding for in offering his son,ABrahM would have had a lively figure of the future offering of the SOn of God as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. Bibleman, I strongly suggest it is your obligation to call the authorites and advise them of the state of your friend. The local police or sheriff's office need to be called immediately before any harm is done to human life. Do not delay, this is serious.
109 | Resurrection Day, not easter! | Exodus | Val | 215236
Dear Humility, stop slamming the Roman Catholics. This is not the place for that. There are many posts on the Sabbath if you would like to search and review them. Meanwhile the comment you made about James 2:10-12 is reinterating that we are all sinners in need of a Saviour. James 2:1 My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism James 1:25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does. James 2:8 If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF," you are doing well. James 2:12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. Sincerely, Val |

God is holy. He gives only good gifts. James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. James 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. James 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. James 1:16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. |

Isaiah 45:7 Hello Michael, there is an explanation of the two kinds of evil that you might find interesting. This explanation is found in the Holman Bible Dictionary. It can be viewed on the internet at Lifeway Online Bible Library under Dictionaries under the word evil. Also under Commentaries by Matthew Henry the passage Isaiah 45:7 says: There is no God beside Jehovah. There is nothing done without him. He makes peace, put here for all good; and creates evil, not the evil of sin, but the evil of punishment. He is the Author of all that is true, holy, good, or happy; and evil, error, and misery, came into the world by his permission, through the wilful apostacy of his creatures, but are restrained and overruled to his righteous purpose. Grace and Peace Val |

Greetings kamschoolgrad, I would urge you to read and study the whole bible and you will learn the answers to your questions. I would also suggest you obey our government and the laws of our country. In the books of Moses the Israelites served Jehovah God and His laws. This was the law enforcement of that society. In our society today, God has ordained government and law enforcement to uphold justice. A good christian is a law abiding one. There are many topics you might study on your quest for answers. Among them are the covenants, gentiles, the law. Your sister in Christ - Val

Nick, thank you for your honesty. You know I have spent many a sleepless night when someone I knew and loved died without confessing Christ as Lord. The anguish I felt was sometimes overwhelming. A wise pastor who I called gave me a word of comfort. He said, we must believe that God is righteous and just and that we are committing this one who died into the hands of a loving and just God. Although it did not comfort me to know this one may not be in heaven as the Lord had given me an opportunity to talk with him about eternity before his death. My friend said honestly he did not believe in Christ. When I warned him of the consequences of going to the place in the bible called hell, he laughed. He even called his mother and said guess what mom they said I am going to hell. His mother agreed that he was. It was within six months or so that this man committed suicide. Life is tough, is it not? Personally I can't pretend that everything is going to work out fine for those I love, but knowing that my God is righteous and just and loving gives me hope and comfort because I know He will handle everything in the best way it can be handled. One thing I have learned is that we cannot make people believe what we believe and that is ok, we can pray for them, witness of Christ and the deliverance from the second death that He has provided and leave the rest to Him. May God bless you. Val Rev 20:15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Rev 21:8 "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." |
