Hebrews 13:17 1 Peter 2:13-3:6 and 1 Peter 5:5 are the passages I cited. It does not say specify the Bible study. But, it does talk about submitting to the leaders. ... and this is a minor point, too. |

3222 | married men | Matt 5:32 | Searcher56 | 12155
I still would stay away. Pray that they restore their committment. Until one gets married, there is always hope. Relationships may lead to marriage should be avoided. |

3223 | Psalm 92:13-14,advise to give friends? | Psalm | Searcher56 | 12150
Nolan is correct. The reason to leave a chircg must be carefully thought out. If the pastor was used by the Holy Spirit to convict, leaving is not wise. If the pastor preached hersey or violates the law, he needs to go, in accordance with the church's consitution. If the people who decide to refuse to vote him out, or he refuses to leave ... then it is time to leave. He could say something that he is not permitted, because he is a counsellor in some states. Nolan - Reconsider. I have already pointed out that we are authority of the church, citing Scripture. If they say they don't want people to start a Bible study on there own, we must follow. We can always leave. One reason is that there needs to be some training to lead a Bible study ... plus, the person may not have the gift of teaching. Even if I have a Bible study at work - I need permission of my employer. Steve |

3227 | When do we become sinners? | Ps 51:5 | Searcher56 | 12111
Based on what God did to Sodom and planned to do to Ninevah - the "innocent" babies will be destroyed ... there is no "age of accountability" - we are born, if not concieve as a sinner.

3230 | Why does it say "his ways," not "Lord's" | 1 Sam 8:3 | Searcher56 | 12108
I have seen ministers pour their lives into their congregation. Many, dare I say most, of us demand too much of our pastors. We think they are 20x7 workers for us. They need to have family time, like we should. I was sad when I led a woman in her 20's to the Lord. She was a PK. She said her parents never asked about her spiritual status. There were tears in her eyes. I urged her to call them. She had siblings at home. She didn't know if they were saved. Steve |

Either you keep the whole Law or we need Jesus.
3232 | What if both committed adultery? | Matt 5:32 | Searcher56 | 12063
You are right. It has happened in my family. People want it their way and will find some pastor who will support it. I did get in the pastor's face and told him he was in violation of several Bible passages. He didn't like it. I know some of my answers, even questions, here aren't always liked. But, I believe I am using the Bible correctly. I do not always like what the Bible says. But, it is not the Word of God that needs to be changed to meet what our need's or the culture's. Tis 908 and all is well God's night to you all Steve |

3233 | Why won't He answer us today? | 1 Sam 8:18 | Searcher56 | 12061
Revival would break out in the land! AMEN!!! I think we have rejected and have possibly forsook the Lord as our king and judge. We also may be asking the wrong person or in the wrong way. We need to be on our knees to beg forgiveness, then stay there to worship our King. |

3235 | Why to judge in Beersheba? | 1 Sam 8:2 | Searcher56 | 12056
Beersheba is the southern most post. He may of wanted them out of the way. I wonder if he was looking for a man to followed his ways.
3236 | Are we "letters"? | 2 Cor 3:2 | Searcher56 | 12055
Verse 1 starts with being commended again. There were teachers who twisted what Paul said and wrote. Because of that, letters of recommendation were needed (a little help from NIV Study Bible), like Paul's mark at the end of his letters. The letter of recommendation went both ways. Verse 2 I see their letter of recommendation being written on Paul's heart. Everyone knows they stand for the turth. Verse 3 says their letter of recommendation has the stamp of Christ, the best recommendation. The Holy Spirit wrote it on their hearts. Therefore, we are each a letter of recommendation because of Christ's endorsement and the seal of the Holy Spirit on our hearts. Steve PS Paul did add that it was the result of his group's ministry. He was the one sent to them. PSS I am confused by Nelson's |

3237 | Question on spiritual covering? | Bible general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 11998
There, a church probably has one of three governments; pastor-rule, elder-rule and congregation-rule ... or some combination. They all use Scripture to support their type of rule. It is a minor point. Whatever the consitution of the church says, we must all follow, including Shannon. Peter does warn the leaders not to lord over the people, as you have stated. However, they are overseers and shepherds (vs 2). Those that they oversee must submit, else everyone could do what is right in his own eyes. The shepherd directs the sheep. This is supported by verse 5, where the young men are to be submissive ... 2:13-3:6 also gives this idea, as well as Hebrews 13:17. Steve 1Peter 5:1-4 |

3238 | Be perfect? | Matt 5:48 | Searcher56 | 11996
Nolan, again, I'm sorry. This time my post got cut off. It should be experts. As you said, in another post, you are modifying your responses. Steve |

3239 | Be perfect? | Matt 5:48 | Searcher56 | 11995
Nolan, I'm sorry for the confusion. Being perfect is both a commandment and a goal. The context could be (giving the how) -loving your enemies -"you have heard it said ..." -the whole Sermon on the Mount I used the greyhound illustration to show that while it is our goal, as with the greyhounds, we can never achieve it. The dogs are given commands also ... just thought of when the box is open, it is the command to go. They are trained to obey the command and chase the rabbit. I hope I made myself clearer, Steve |
