281 | A New Reformation? | Revelation | New Creature | 95958
EdB It may be possible that the Pastor I mentioned came from a well to do family and had plently of money to spare since he owned his own airplane. Another possibility is that he received a large sum of money from some sort of settlement Other possibilities could be, that he invested wisely in the stock market. Or maybe some deceased relative died and left him and his wife a large estate. The last possibility maybe he was the winner of a large lottery jackpot. I don't know his situation. I agree if his congregation desired to endow him with special favor, then thats their priviledge, whether or not I agree on the laviousness of it. I do know that there are some so-called ministers who preach a "health and wealth" prosperity message. Whether or not this individual is or is not one of these I cannot tell. God bless you |

EdB While I did get the Pastors name, I must say it's been over a year and I no longer remember what it is. All I can remember about him is that he was from a populated New Jersey area, and had a large congregation that according to him, loved him with much respect. God Bless you NC |

Hank I have been confined to a wheelchair ever since I made that comment. She said one more smart remark from you and I will break your typing fingers. There are two times when a man doesn't understand a woman – before marriage and after marriage May Gods Grace abound to you New Creature |

justme Congratulations on 34 years of marriage Here is a piece of humor you might enjoy. Just don't tell it to Mrs. justme if you plan to celebrate a 35th wedding anniversary. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said. So I suggested the kitchen. God Bless you and Mrs. justme New Creature |

Radioman I read where someone had written; "What has been left behind in the Left Behind series is the truth. Having never read any of this series myself I cannot comment on them. And having no desire to ever read any of them in the future, I probably won't be able to comment on them at a later day either. God bless you New Creature or just plain NC for short |

286 | Seven Church "ages"? Is it scriptural? | Revelation | New Creature | 95855
jclove you stated "God's time is vastly different from ours" and "a day to God is different than our current calendar. According to God's clock a day is a much longer period of time." If what you say is so then consider the following from Genesis read that on the 3rd day Gen. 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so then on the 4th day Gen. 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Gen. 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. Gen. 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. Gen. 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, Gen. 1:18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good So from these verses, if I must believe that these days were a thousand years rather than a literal day, would that mean that the plants had to wait for a thousand years before they received any sunshine which helps them grow? That is just one of the numerous problems I believe you face with the theory that each day of Creation is a thousand years rather than just believing that it was a literal 24 hour day. Hank You betcha Or how about a sermon using the following text 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Hank Sorry to butt in here I just had to say, that I was watching an interview of Tim LaHaye on a Christian TV program, and the interviewer asked Mr. LaHaye; "what percentage of your Left Behind series is fact and what percentage is fiction. The answer Mr. LaHaye gave was 50 percent fact, and 50 percent fiction. I personally have never read one of these books, probably never will. Grace to you New Creature |

Dear Darcy Let me give you one Scriptural reference to it's description of the church. Maybe you will see that even the church in Bibical times was considered the pillar and ground of truth. the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 1 Tim. 3:15b God Bless you New Creature |

Dear Hank I agree with you completely. Tozer is also one of my hero's of the faith. Even though he went to be with the Lord in 1963, much of what he said seems like he wrote it just today. I read where he never owned a car in his life. While my wife and I were on vacation last year, we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast. We like Bed and Breakfast Inns because you get a chance to personally meet and become aquainted with other people. While having breakfast at this Bed and Breakfast, we began introducing ourselves to others at the Inn. One individual we began talking with was a AOG minister and he was telling my wife and I about how his congregation bought him, a Mercedes Benz, which he had with him on vacation. He also told us that he personally owns his own private airplane and is a pilot. Then he began telling us about this 18 thousand dollar Harley Davison that he also owns. By the way. I couldn't help but notice that he also was wearing a Rolex. I'm not kidding. My wife and I were appalled. I'm sure Jesus was impressed with all his material possessions Blessings Hank New Creature |

Dear justme I have enjoyed your reply's very much. And I am happy to have to have made your aquiantance, even if we have never met in person, I am hopeful we will meet each other in the next life, in which we will spend eternity praising our Lord Jesus Christ. 292 | A New Reformation? | Revelation | New Creature | 95797
Dear justme Just as God used Martin Luther (a single individual) To start the Reformation. Likewise with us revival must first be individual and then spread unto others as the Spirit of the Lord works among us and through us. I also agree that God can and in fact does use drastic events as sort of a broadcasting system which is aimed at getting our attention. God indeed does use circumstances to speak to individual hearts, whether it is unbelievers He is drawing to salvation, or believers that are drifting away from the faith. If I understand you correctly, you don't believe another revival is possible. You said "it's too late now" While I respect that opinion, I still believe that a revival is possible, because our God is a loving compassionate and merciful God. In your final statement you said; "I believe the great tribulation is now started or will soon start" If the great tribulation has already started, then you must not believe in the pre-trib rapture. But thats ok, cause neither do I. I just don't see how the time we are now living in fits the description of the great tribulation. But thats a whole another topic which probably needs a new thread of it's own Keep in the word, and keep praying Lord send a revival and let it begin in me. New Creature |

Dear Hank I personally believe that we are living in a day when much of what is being presented as gospel truth is merely appealing to those who have itching ears, and only want to hear a sugar-coated message. (2 Tim 4:2-3) Having spent time in leadership positions at my previous church, I noticed the tendancy to accept into membership most individuals who expressed interest. It often appeared to me that some individual's upon being interviewed for membership by the Pastor and elders were not even asked to provide a testiomony of their profession of faith. Others who were asked if they had testimony of the inward work of God's grace within them, seemed to not really have any tangible testimony at all. Because of the shortage of people willing to become members therby making them eligible to serve in the various leadership positions, just about anyone willing to apply for membership, whether or not they had a tangible salvation experience and testimony are allowed into the roles of active membership. When this happens you have individuals attempting to do God's work using human power instead of divine power, and the result is failure. Oh sure you may have the numbers, but what the church has become is a social club. I guess we need a revival, or reformation. We need to begin again to do God's work His way, using the power and strength which He alone can provide. We need more people who have had a life changing experience which gives postive witness and testimony to the fact they have truly been soundly converted. The church doesn't need more professors of faith. It needs profession of faith, combined with evidence of genuine conversions. You asked about the source for the quote I provided in the original post. Oddly enough that quote comes from age long gone. The quote comes from Tozer who passed away in 1963. If Mr. Tozer had that to say before 1963, I wonder what Tozer's thoughts would be today concerning the church. I better quit here while I still have enough sense to stop. God's grace be upon you New Creature |

DL5 Thanks once again for your response, and I know we both agree that the Lord will return just as He promised. Until then stay in His word and remember what was repeated 7 times to the 7 churches of Revelation. "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." Grace to you New Creature |

295 | A New Reformation? | Revelation | New Creature | 95778
mommapbs I agree with you that what was spoken to each of the 7 churches in Revelation, is relevant to the churches in our day as well. I believe that is why it is mentioned 7 times in Rev. 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13,22 "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches" The Spirit is still speaking to the church today, and expressly to those who are discerning, and willing to hear. I found your post very interesting and want to thank you for giving me some detail about the interesting aspects of your trip to the land of the 7 churches Grace be to you New Creature |

DAIRYLEADERS Thank you for responding to my question While I agree with you about the "lukewarmness" that is evident today, I not sure I buy into the Revelation church age theory that you mention. That doesn't mean I am not familar with that teaching. I also believe their is much that can be gathered about the other six churches in Revealtion that applys to the churches of our days as well. But once agian thank you Grace to you New Creature |

297 | What does the Bible say about tatoos and | Lev 19:28 | New Creature | 95400
Darcy yes Thank you Concerning tatoo's and body piercings, I like to tell people, that if God wanted me to have a tatoo or a body piercing, then He would have created me with one or several of these. But since God doesn't make mistakes and everything was initially made perfect by our loving Creator God, then what can I add to His perfect work? Gen. 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. God Bless you New Creature |

298 | Who is guilty as charged? | Heb 10:29 | New Creature | 95105
Mommapbs Once again in Heb 10:29 those guilty are have said to have been sanctified. Unless unbelievers are sanctified this verse cannot apply to them and as far as I can tell is a serious warning to believers. I also agree with the following statement concerning Heb 10:29 which comes from Coffman Commentaries on the New testament. "the sad, unwelcome fact, and one almost unbelievable, that even after one is a true and devoted Christian, enjoying all the privileges of salvation, even "sanctified" as in this verse, that even then such a person can defect from the Lord and lose his soul. All efforts to alter this fact, whether by tampering with the text of scripture or by explanations that deny the text, should be rejected." Therefore I respectfully disagree with your opinion Grace to you New Creature |
