201 | AGE OF ACCOUNTIBILITY | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9154
Blessings Debbie! That is wonderful to learn that your grandson has accepted Christ and at so young of an age! When I was that little, I did not understand everything either (communion, etc). But I did know that Jesus loved me! :) And we build from there.. Jesus loves all the little children! Praise the Lord! Nolan |

202 | Where's the Ark now? | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9256
Wow, this is very interesting prayon! Prayon, I must apologize. I realize now (looking back on the past couple of days) that I bogged your questions down with multiple posts relying heavily on resources that may or may have not gotten 'to the root of' your questions.. I apologize and will try to correct this 'overusage' of extra-Biblical material from now on. Now onto your response: This is very interesting that the Jews would have this tradition. Would this tradition come into play upon the rise of the Antichrist? How does Zech. 14:1-21 come into play here? Sorry, these questions are off the original topic of the Ark of the Covenant but I thought that it was interesting! You are always a blessing to the Forum, prayon! Nolan |

203 | Let's talk about prayer | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9272
Hank, I've thought a lot about this question.. What is prayer? Well, I believe that everything is here for a reason. God has given us a language so that we can speak to others and speak to Him. So what does a constant state of prayer or unceasing prayer mean? We should bring every thought that we have into the obedience of Christ! The evidence of a strong prayer life is characterized by the decisions that we make and how we react to certain things. And we can all have a strong prayer life. Does this mean that we should all kneel at the edge of our beds for an hour every day and find things to ramble on about? No. We can consciously think of God and pray to Him without even saying a single word! We can honor God with our thoughts, music, speech, what we spend our time on, etc, etc.. And we will grow, as long as we keep in His Word. In fact, in some ways, I am praying right now as I write this to the Forum- that this post will be received with good intent and that others may obtain spiritual encouragement from it! I am not actually speaking the words, but I am consciously asking the Lord God in my mind to help guide these words that I write.. And I believe that God will answer these prayers! Praise the Lord! 204 | Consider Rev 11:19 | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9321
THECROSS, where in Scripture does it say that Mary is the 'New Ark of the Covenant'? Is there anything in Scripture that proves that Mary is anything but a simple God-fearing woman? I'm assuming that you meant Mary, the mother of Jesus. THECROSS, I ask that you would base your answers on God's Holy Word. Thank you! EdB stated in response to Rev. 11:19, "Now if there is an Ark in heaven could it be that God to preserve it removed the Ark from man’s presence? We see God’s Glory leave the temple in Ezekiel 10 is it not also be possible that God removed the Ark and mercy seat at that time?" This is very interesting! I certainly believe that it is possible that God removed the Ark at the time that His glory departed from Israel in Ezekiel 10! This would explain its mysterious disappearance. However, I do not see how this would be of substantial importance to Christians, since the symbolism of the Ark is made true and real in our 'flesh and blood' hearts. But to Jews, this 'revelation' would certainly be the most tremendous boost of faith, second only to the revelation of Jesus Christ! Nolan |

205 | 12 Tribes of Isreal? | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9323
Greetings Debbie! Oh yes, the migration of Dan is definitely possible! However, I am 'hard-pressed' to find any information whatsoever on this or the 'migration' of other tribes outside of the Bible.. This is an interesting idea to think upon! Blessings, Nolan |

207 | Qualifications of the pastor | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9383
"If a man desired the pastoral office, and from love to Christ, and the souls of men, was ready to deny himself, and undergo hardships by devoting himself to that service, he sought to be employed in a good work, and his desire should be approved, provided he was qualified for the office. A minister must give as little occasion for blame as can be, lest he bring reproach upon his office. He must be sober, temperate, moderate in all his actions, and in the use of all creature-comforts. Sobriety and watchfulness are put together in Scripture, they assist one the other. The families of ministers ought to be examples of good to all other families. We should take heed of pride; it is a sin that turned angels into devils. He must be of good repute among his neighbours, and under no reproach from his former life. To encourage all faithful ministers, we have Christ’s gracious word of promise, Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world, Matthew 28:20. And he will fit his ministers for their work, and carry them through difficulties with comfort, and reward their faithfulness." Matthew Henry Commentary on 1 Timothy 3:2.. If single men can prove their integrity and right standing before God and before men, then they have every right to lay hold of such duties that are before them- to pastor a church or to be a leader in the church! In no way whatsoever is marriage a prerequisite or qualification for pastorship. "3:2 the husband of one wife. Lit., a one-woman man. Some think this means having only one wife at a time, others, only one living wife (see 5:14 and 1 Cor. 7:39, where remarriage of a widow is permitted), but more likely married only once. The reverse phrase, "one-man woman" in 5:9 can only mean "married only once" in the case of the enrolled widow." Ryrie Study Bible |

208 | No need to reinvent the wheel. | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9384
Amen, Amen! No need to reinvent the wheel. Also, if you have a question or a desire to learn more about something that has been proven to be 'highly controversial', then please just view what has already been written without re-opening such 'controversial' debates again, which would only serve to regurgitate what has already been 'agreed to disagree upon' and which most members of the Forum would reluctantly, if at all, even engage in, since such ground has been 'much trod upon'.. If you want to post a question and find it has already been asked, then seek the answers. If you feel as if you can add something to the answer, then just add the material that would be helpful in the discussion. However, if it has already been answered well, then I would recommend that you would seek another question or find 'new material' to post, which would be of the greater benefit to all. Blessings! 209 | Was Abraham a Muslim? | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9430
Dear Questioner, Thank you and I appreciate your willingness to come back and contribute to this Forum! Yes, I pray that we could come to some common ground here too, seeing what we agree on and what we don't. I am grateful that you have accepted my apology, and I also forgive you. Its amazing how our lives have changed because of our faiths! I look forward to more interaction with you! Your friend, Nolan |

210 | Questioner, Are you a Muslim? | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9431
Wow! Questioner, you have definitely been exposed to several sides of Christianity as well as Islam. When I reacted to you in this way, I became defensive simply because of the Forum that we participate on (since it is viewed by the world at large). I will continue to have an open mind towards your questions, answers, and notes and try to see where we can find some common ground in agreement. One thing does puzzle me: After being around Christianity, what attracted you to leave Christianity for Islam? I just was wondering. I find this interesting! Nolan |

211 | Consider Rev 11:19 | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9464
THECROSS, I appreciate your answer! And I do not think that you are a 'smart such and such'.. I am glad that you are on the Study Bible Forum! I have just read Ezekiel 44:1-10 in the New American Standard Bible and I find absolutely no mention or reference at all to Mary, the mother of Jesus. I'm sorry, THECROSS, but you are just going to have to show me exactly where in the Bible that Mary is 'shown' to be more than just a woman of God. Otherwise, I do not agree with you about Mary being 'the Ark of the new covenant.' I agree with you that Jesus is the 'new Adam' because the Bible says so in 1 Corinthians 15:45. And 1 Corinthians 15:22 tells me this also. But THECROSS, where in the Bible does it say that Mary is anything more than a God fearing woman who gave birth to the Man, Jesus Christ? Mary may have given birth to Jesus, who was the fullness of God in bodily form, and Mary was the 'vessel' that God used to deliver His Son to this earth, but Mary did not 'give birth' to God. For God has no beginning and no end! (Revelation 22:13) And how could Mary be the mother of God if God has existed forever? Jesus Christ has always existed, even before the foundation of the earth! (John 17:24, Hebrews 13:8) So was Mary really the 'mother of God'? Or was she just a willing servant of God whom God used to 'introduce' His one and only Son into this world? THECROSS, I am not trying to put you on the spot here. I humbly ask you to please show me in Scripture with Bible Verses where it 'proves' that Mary is anything more than just a humble servant of God. You also said, "man that was at the foot of the cross" and this brings me to John 19:26-27 where Jesus says, "Woman, behold, your son!" and to the 'man', "Behold, your mother!" If you were referring to these passages, where Mary, the mother of Jesus, is standing at the foot of the cross with John, His disciple, then please show me where it says here that Mary is anything more than just a woman of God. THECROSS, I ask you humbly, and not as a request! God bless! Nolan |

214 | Consider Rev 11:19 | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9757
Dear THECROSS, I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, who was sent by His Father to die for our sins and He rose on the third day after His crucifixion. I believe in the virgin birth and that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah, who came to save that which was lost. I believe in the Holy Spirit, He who was sent to comfort and to reveal the truth and light, to baptize and to seal us with God's seal. I believe that Jesus will return one day to receive us all unto Himself, but no man knows the day.. After reading all of the Scriptures that you mentioned (except the Apocryphal books Wisdom and Judith, since I do not consider those as 'canon'), you have explained much better why you believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the 'Ark of the Covenant', but I still do not agree with you that this is so. Hebrews 9:4 never states that the Ark of the Covenant was made of 'incorruptible wood'. Exodus 25:10 does not say this either! So if you are saying that the Ark was made of 'incorruptible wood', then either you are basing these assumptions on your own conclusions (which one cannot come to just by reading the text), or on the conclusions of a long standing tradition that does not prove to be 'supported' by Scripture here. All things must be supported by Scripture. If we begin to believe in tradition rather than Scripture, then we are taking our focus off of God's Holy Word, and putting our 'faith' in man's tradition, which is full of flaws, and God's Word is flawless (Psalm 12:6-7). I now see where you make the connection between Mary having the 'midden manna' of Jesus Christ and giving birth to Him, thus making her the new "Ark of the Covenant" and the "Queen of God", but this is nowhere to be supported in Scripture! Is it only coincidence that none of the Biblical writers ever even alluded to the same thing that you are talking about? Yes, all generations will call Mary 'blessed', since she was in a sense, the hand-maiden of God. However, Mary is in no way equal with God, nor does she have any characteristics of the Deity. If you read in Luke 2:34-35, does not Simeon say to Mary, "and a sword will pierce even your own soul"?? If this is so, then in what way is Mary shown to be Deity, since she will also be convicted of her sins? We should not call Mary, the mother of Jesus, 'blessed' to the point of worshipping her! This would be idolatry, and something that is not even acceptable to angels (Rev. 19:10; 22:8-9)! Mary was a servant of God as we are. In no way has she been placed as a "Goddess" over mankind. Not only does this teach polytheism but it is not Scriptural and is actually contrary to the teachings of the Bible. More to come, THECROSS.. Nolan |

215 | Consider Rev 11:19 | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9758
Dear THECROSS, You have also cited Jeremiah 31:22 in your thesis.. What does this verse mean? Can we come to the conclusions that you come to by reading this verse? I believe that the woman in this verse is symbolizing the nation of Israel. The Believer's Study Bible interprets this verse as referring to all Israel, "31:22: The promise to Israel involves an unusual reversal. Instead of a husband "encompassing" his wife, the wife, even with her weaker physical nature, "encompasses" her husband (cf. 1 Pet 3:7). "Encompass" is used here in the sense of faithful encompassing love, one which indicates clinging to an object (cf. Gen 2:24). Israel, the "woman" or "virgin," (v. 21) will "encompass" her divine Bridegroom and cling to Him." The New Scofield Bible states, "JEREMIAH 31:22: 'Thing' Most contemporary Bible teachers understand the passage to mean that Israel, contrary to the practice of women, will woo the LORD, her divine husband. Older expositors almost unanimously took the verse to predict the virgin birth of the Messiah. Their arguments are: (1) The "new thing in the earth" would require an event of unprecedented character. (2) The word "create" implies an act of divine power. (3) The term "woman" demands an individual rather than the entire nation. And (4) the word "man" is properly used of God (Isa 9:6)." So this verse, (Jeremiah 31:22) along with Rev. chapter 12, is showing the 'woman' to be Israel (symbolizing Israel as a whole) instead of the woman to be Mary herself. Yes, yes, Mary was the vessel that God used to deliver His Son to this earth. However, it would be entirely presumptuous to believe that Mary, and not the people of Israel, would be the progenitors of His Son, since His geneaologies (Matthew 1 and Luke 3) all point to the conclusion of Israel and not Mary herself! So the Bible does not ascribe any Deity to Mary, nor does it promote such Deity to her. Therefore, I remain unconvinced that she was a servant just like you or me, being used by God. THECROSS, if you have more sources to argue this issue, then go ahead. Go ahead and post them. Make my day. I will just refute them all one at a time! What will I use to refute them with? God's Holy Word, which is my sword!! Blessings, Nolan |

217 | Consider Rev 11:19 | Bible general Archive 1 | Makarios | 9845
Hello again, THECROSS.. My name is "Nolan", not "Nolon".. The NASB is a Bible translation. The Disciple's Study Bible and New Scofield Study Bibles are examples of good Study Bibles that are aids and references to consult after reading a difficult passage in a Bible translation such as the NASB. One of the few things in your note that are barely even worthy of a response from me include your statement, "ALL generations.means every person in every century until the end of time.SHALL.denotes a command and not a suggestion." Wrong again! When Mary says, "All generations shall call me blessed", she is not in any way saying this to 'all generations' as a command! If this is so, then it would have been stated as such by the Lord Jesus Christ, who even says, "Who is my mother and sister and brothers?" when the disciples were trying to tell Him that his mother and sister and brothers were outside looking for Him! So if Jesus even shared the same blood (in birth) with Mary, then shouldn't He treat Mary with a little more 'respect' here? Never does Jesus ascribe any Deity or 'higher respect' to Mary in all the works of Scripture. But we have a problem there also, don't we?? Just what books do you and I consider as Scripture? I believe that the early church decided this question long ago for me- and the Catholic church sought to include these "other" books later to support its pagan extra-biblical (and contrary to Biblical) traditions! As long as I have a Bible that contains all the Books that can be referenced by this Study Bible Forum, then I have all the Scripture that I need, THECROSS. You are the one who is 'missing out' on a wonderful Book called "the Bible", since you let your pagan catholic church and their tradition blind you from its true meaning! The Bible existed long before the Catholic Church ever did, and the Bible is my ultimate and final authority. You have failed miserably in trying to thwart my correct belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is only a God fearing woman who was used by God in a special way. If you do not believe that the Bible is the ultimate authority, then maybe you should reconsider your participation here and also your spiritual status as a supposed Christian. Nolan |
