201 | Did King David know about Absalom? | 2 Sam 18:14 | Makarios | 157904
Greetings my friend, Actually no, I haven't found a better reason. :-) In fact, I am beginning to believe that King David went to his grave without knowing that Joab killed Absalom, unless someone can come up with a better idea. I appreciate your thoughts and time spent! Makarios |

203 | He wept not for their grief | John 11:35 | Makarios | 157868
Greetings Mommapbs, If we examine the Bible, we read that Jesus is possibly in fear in the Garden of Gethsemane, but I will need Scripture references to read it in any other circumstance. Blessings, Makarios |

204 | Is Allah the God of Israel? | Acts 28:2 | Makarios | 157867
Greetings Robin, I apologize, but I believe that the fact that the word "Allah" is used in reference to God in Islam is why you are getting a cold reception with this topic. We have seen people of the Islamic faith in the past frequent this Forum, with the possible intention of proselytizing. In the Old Testament, God is usually referred to with the Hebrew word "elohim." (Strong's #430 Hebrew) In the New Tetament, God is usually referred to with the Greek word "theos." (Strong's #2316 Greek) But the proper name LORD is referred to as "yhwh" or Yahweh (Strong's #3068 Hebrew). If we examine each of these closely, 'allah' is not derived from elohim or Yahweh or theos, nor is it based on those words. In fact, I cannot find any such Hebrew or Greek word 'allah' at all. If the Maltese Christians use "allah" as their word for God in their native barbaric tongue, then I can see where they would be misunderstood, since that is the same word that is used for an entirely different God in the Islamic religion. Blessings to you, Makarios |

205 | Is Allah the God of Israel? | Acts 28:2 | Makarios | 157861
Greetings Robin, You write, "God in His wisdom instructed us to baptise in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, not the name of God, which prevents the name of a local foreign deity being used." Do you believe that there is One God who exists in Three Persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit? - Makarios |

206 | He wept not for their grief | John 11:35 | Makarios | 157860
Greetings Mommapbs! If Jesus did not experience fear when Lazarus died, then I am sure that He did so in Gethsemane. His fear then was the separation and rejection that He would experience from the Father after taking on the sins of the whole world.. I do not think that Christ was afraid of death at all - it was the separation from the Father that He had such a hard time getting past, not death itself. Blessings to you, Makarios |

208 | Is Allah the God of Israel? | Acts 28:2 | Makarios | 157820
Greetings Robin Haas! In everything that we are presented with in regards to God, we are admonished by Scripture to examine those things to make sure that they are true, based on the revealed Word that God has given us (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If the Maltese Christians are baptising in the Jordan River but baptising in the name of Allah instead of in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, then what they are doing is not in agreement with Scripture, because "there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) Blessings to you, Makarios |

209 | Text out of context for our feelings? | Rev 21:1 | Makarios | 157819
Greetings CDBJ! Yes, I would say that it is also safe to assume that there is anguish in heaven before the appearance of the new heavens and new earth as spoken of in Rev. 21:1. The source of this anguish, as felt in heaven, is this current world and its desires (1 Cor. 7:31; 1 John 2:17), the tribulation, and the wrath of God, as well as what has already taken place (Hebrews 11; Rev. 6:9-10) in this world, what is taking place in this world (Acts 11:19), and what will take place, as witnessed by the great cloud of witnesses in heaven (Hebrews 12:1; Rev. 7:9,10). I believe that when believers die, we go to be with the Lord. We will be secure with the Lord, but that does not mean that heaven will be an entirely blissful place without any anxiety, since we also have to look forward to judgment (1 Cor. 3:13-15; 2 Cor. 5:10) based on what we have done after we have been saved. We know that war has happened in heaven before (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:12-19; Luke 10:18) and will happen again (Rev. 12:7; 19:11). However, being in heaven is much more desirable than being on earth (Psalm 73:25; 1 Corinthians 2:9-10; 2 Corinthians 5:2), and being with the Lord above all! (2 Corinthians 5:6) But I do not believe that the completely blissful and worshipful experience of Rev. 21:4 (and our emotional response) will not happen until the events of the Day of the Lord have taken place. Blessings to you, Makarios |

210 | He wept not for their grief | John 11:35 | Makarios | 157805
Greetings Mommapbs! Thank you for your followup to one of my past posts! I'm not sure that I understand how "the fear of the Lord," as mentioned in Deut. 6:2, 10:12, 14:23, 17:19, 28:58, 31:12; Joshua 4:24; 2 Chronicles 19:9; Psalm 19:9; Proverbs 1:7, 8:13, 9:10, 10:27, 14:26-27, 15:16,33, 19:23, 22:4, 23:17; Isaiah 8:13, 11:3; Malachi 3:5; Acts 9:31, 19:17; and in 2 Corinthians 5:11 has anything to do with Jesus weeping in John 11:35.. Would you mind explaining your thoughts a little bit further? I appreciate your input! Blessings to you, Makarios |

211 | Did King David know about Absalom? | 2 Sam 18:14 | Makarios | 157803
Greetings Michael, I'm not sure that the attitude of Solomon towards his brothers has anything at all to do with whether or not David knew that Joab slew Absalom. Blessings to you, Makarios |

Greetings Searcher, Nowhere in Colossians 3:16 are the words "school" and "song" together. In fact, there is absolutely no place in the Bible that I can find that even begins to mention a "song school".. Makarios |

219 | Are these the "willfully sinning" v26? | Heb 10:39 | Makarios | 156824
Greetings Mommapbs! I apologize that it has taken me so long to respond to your note. I would agree that there are those who know about God but don't really know Him as their personal Lord and Savior. The only advice that I can give you from personal experience is that persistence and persistence through prayer pays! I am not saying that we should witness to people every single time that we are with them if they refuse to believe. But we can go on being ourselves, our own light and witness to them, and to continue praying that the Lord will knock down the strongholds that they have built up around themselves to keep them away from believing. Many times, I see that the people that I witness to are watching me, to see if I walk the same thing that I talk to them about. Another thing to consider is that you have planted the seed! And another Christian will perhaps take your work further, hopefully resulting in the salvation of the soul. Blessings to you! Makarios |

220 | Jacob/Israel Name interchanged in Gen. | Gen 32:28 | Makarios | 156822
Greetings PJC, I apologize for not answering your question earlier, but I have searched through everything I have and I have not been able to find a specific answer as to why Scripture uses 'Jacob' and 'Israel' interchangeably in Genesis. At this point, I can only offer you my speculation. It is possible that the context of the passage itself could reveal the whys as far as why one is used over another in specific places. Blessings to you, Makarios |
