321 | Does God plunge mortals into ignorance? | Obad 1:8 | JCrichton | 130970
Hi, RS! I am referencing God's Call... it is a spiritual calling that even as infants when our physical abilities are not mature (cognizant, locomotive, and intellectual), we receive from the Father... did I imply that we do not need to get to know Jesus (Scripture)? No! But God does allow even the illiterate mind to know Him (Romans 1:19-24)... ever wonder why a few week-old infant stares into nothingness and smiles with glee? Though we are heirs of Adam according to the flesh, we are made Whole in Jesus through the Holy Spirit of God. This is the relationship which I attempted to convey... that need to be with our Creator in as innate in our system as self-preservation! Christ Himself attest to this when He tells us that: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44) We see, our relationship with God is not facilitated by man... it is God Himself that extends His Love and Mercy to us in His Calling... as we choose to listen to the Father, He guides us to the Son, who in turn offers us Life in the Holy Spirit--one God, forever involved in man's existence guiding him to holiness: for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." (1 Peter 1:16) Yet, since we are created in the image and likeness of God, we can choose to ignore God’s Call--we can choose to reject Him and blissfully embrace the creature (Satan and the world). In John 6:44 Jesus states that we depend on the Father's guidance to Jesus... how the Father chooses to bring us to the Son is not for us to determine... Some may be brought up by devoted Christians who instruct their children from the womb about Christ; some may be the offspring of "Christians" who have worked themselves into denominational apartheid where they are in the fringes of Christian Faith--yet God with His Powerful Spirit (the Holy Spirit) chooses to immerse the child/children in a quest for holiness that outstrips the apathy of the parents; still, some may come to Jesus from openly hostile nations/people who reject Jesus and seek to eradicate any semblance of His Divinity... It is our Holy Father that Calls us to Himself, through Jesus, in the Holy Spirit: Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. (1 Corinthians 12:3-6--see also Romans 14:17-18; 15:16; 15:30; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 9:14) We know that this relationship existed forever because God does not change… again, I am not contending that we can come to Yahweh by our own means; rather my argument is that our Holy Father has been Calling us to Him from the very beginning and even as infants He is there seeking us out! Christian parents have the obligation to instruct their children in the Faith, to help them understand that they belong to God and that He has always been there waiting for them to recognize that they are not alone, that they belong to Him! But the reality of the matter is that we are swayed by the world and we eagerly run after Satan exchanging the Beauty of God for the instant gratifications of the flesh! (John 3:19-21) God Bless! 322 | does one need to be baptised to be saved | John 3:5 | JCrichton | 130841
"Perhaps we could include "Feet Washing, John 13" along with water baptism as a mandate? Why one and not the other? Thank you!" Hi, ROGER! Perhaps I misread your post... but did you not mean to be condescending with your statement? You reference to having a ""Discussion as an Adult?" ...yet I do not read that tone in your post (specially with the ending remark--isn't it kind of 1970's high school "In your face?" You broungt into the thread a value that has nothing to do with baptism, you presented it as a matter-of-factly: "you are speaking junk so contend with this!" because I quoted what Jesus and the Apostles held to be a clear Command! I do apologize for not being more patient... I restructured my reply several times (from your reception I can see that even my final draft was too strong)... I promise you that in the future I will download your posts onto my computer to offer you a greater amount of Scripture and less of my zeal for Scripture! God Bless! Angel |

323 | One God, One Jesus Christ | 1 Cor 8:5 | JCrichton | 130840
Hi, Darcan! Could you explain where I have pushed denominational biases? You are stating that I am claiming that the Word, Jesus Christ, is God and that the Holy Spirit is God due to my denominational bais, who is this so? Is this a Christian site? If it is how can accepting Jesus as God prove to be a denominational bais? How can accepting the Holy Spirit as God prove to be a denominational bais? If you are asking me to entertain a man's interpretation of Scripture that claims that Jesus is not God--you will not see that happen! If you are an agent of Lockman and your duties require that you monitor my posts do so! If your duties require you to demand that I reject Jesus as God, say so and I will happy leave this forum! I do not come here to engage people for the purpose of teaching denominational creed--but if you are a representative of the forum and you feel that I have been doing so, please reissue your accusation with direct quotes from my posts that demonstrates that I am advocating my Church's views in rejection of Scripture! May the Lord, the God of the Amen, shine on you and may His Holy Spirit enlighten you! God Bless! Angel |

324 | does one need to be baptised to be saved | John 3:5 | JCrichton | 130693
Hi, ROGER459! I guess that you have a special deciphering ring that allows you to set limits to Christ's Commands! Or is it that you believe that the Bible has been added to? When Jesus tells the disciples to baptize... did your special decoder ring note where He said "but it's only an option... if they feel like being baptized or if you are not too tired to do as I command?" May the Holy Spirit shed His baptismal grace upon us all! God Bless! Angel |

325 | Does God plunge mortals into ignorance? | Obad 1:8 | JCrichton | 130597
Hi, Reighn! I must totally agree with you... we are created in the image and likeness of God--potentially we have the wisdom and abilities of being children of God from get-go! It is out of pure obstinance that we reject Life: Light: God! (John 3:19-21) Even as children, when our cognitive abilities are not yet honed, the Spirit of God guides us to behave in obedience to God... It is an innate mechanism that steers us to God--the reason why though we may find ourselves in a crowd of tens of thousands we still have that empty feeling, that feeling of missing something... If we choose to obey God, our relationship with Jesus begins to form and our potential (spiritual growth) is unlimited! But most of us are quick to embrace foolishness as we keep our eyes set on instant gratification (pleasures of the world) while putting aside our Heavenly quest... we silence God's voice within us and we waste years or lifetimes seeking to fill the void that only Christ can fill! God Bless! Angel |

326 | All of us prodigals untill saved ! | Luke 15:20 | JCrichton | 130596
"but as lost becoming found by our own choosing." Hi, Lakerep! I was not challenging your understanding of this Scripture passage... my post was in reference to you final statement (see quote above)... as I read it it seems to be inferring that we choose the terms of salvation... Though it is our right to choose life or death, we cannot determine the terms: we accept Jesus at His terms or we forfeit the Gift! God Bless! Angel |

327 | One God, One Jesus Christ | 1 Cor 8:5 | JCrichton | 130368
Hi, Tara! Since you did not reply to my previous posts I believed that you had been studying the Bible... at your resurgence (the last one I should say) I thought that I would extend the invitation once more... Yet, since I am a firm believer of Christ's Divinity, since you have been reading the various posts on the subject, and since I will only serve to further irritate you ("you appeared to be too blunt and unreasonable") it will be better that we maintain the relationship as it is... after all you are right: when it comes to the Holy Trinity I refuse to allow man's theologies to deter me from the Truth: Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the Living One, the one who IS, the I AM! I will still pray that the Holy Spirit enlighten your mind and your heart so that you may humbly accept Jesus' Word: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:1, 6) God Bless! Angel |

328 | Is this verse telling us to obey our bio | Eph 6:1 | JCrichton | 130366
"the context would imply that we are to obey our biological parents when they are good "spiritual" leaders who are bringing us up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." Hi, Ray! Excellent point! Too often we have witnessed, either directly or indirectly, parents who are teaching anti-Christian values... at times, as their children mature, some of them seek God but there's no one to guide them... they have to make the personal decision not to follow in their parents' footsteps rejecting the world and humbly seeking Christ Jesus! God Bless! Angel |

"The New World Bible Translation Committee expressed a different judgment in this place by the translation “a god.”" Hi, Tara! I suggest that you take a sabbatical from the fallacies of the New World Bible Translation Committee! Can't you see how confused they are? They want you to deny Jesus as your God while simultaneously advocating that you accept Him as your god... don't you see the error on this? Please, before it is too late, ask a Christian congregation to give you a Bible and study it (first by yourself, then as you gain some familiarity with Scripture with other Christian), but empty yourself of all those fallacies to which you have been exposed; go to the Holy Spirit with a humble mind and heart; listen to God's Word without preconceived ideologies... listen carefully for God's counsel: Jesus, the Truth, will set you free! Listen to what Yahweh tells us: You yourselves are my witnesses, declares Yahweh, and the servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that it is I. No god was formed before me, nor will be after me. I, I am Yahweh, and there is no other Saviour but me. (Isaiah 43:10-11) Do you understand this Scriptural passage? There is no play on Greek or any other grammar... it is concise and precise: no other god exists but Yahweh! And when Yahweh call's Jesus the Emmanuel (God with us: Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23) or when He openly calls Him God (Hebrews 1:8) Yahweh certainly does not mean that there a new god/God for Israel; it is the same ole God from ancient time: IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD AND THE WORD WAS GOD! I once offered you a complete study on the Trinity/Divinity of Jesus... I reiterate my offer, if you wish it, I can prepare a Bible study for you that will enclude Scripture from both the Old Testament and the New Testament--I will not even ask you to visit my Church... In the mean while, I pray to the Holy Spirit that He shines on you with God's Mercy and Grace and awaken a true discipleship in you so that you may believe in God as He wants us to believe and worship Him! God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Noveta! You may be a new creature in Christ, but you have demonstrated more maturity than Tara as he/she is so confused that accepts man's interpretations of Scripture as truth, rather than accepting God's Word: Mark 9:7 Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!" Tara and the rest of the Jehovah Witnesses listen to Jesus only when they believe that He supports their fallacies... they gladly quote Jesus saying that the Father is greater than He... this passage they believe and accept as the Word of God. But when Jesus states that He and the Father are One--they dismiss it as a symbolic metaphorical expression... Even when the Father calls Jesus God (Hebrews 1:8) they reject God's own statement! They want so badly to believe that Christ is not God that they refuse to understand Jesus' words when He states that no one takes His life, that He gives it freely and that He takes it back again! (John 10:17-18) They profess to be Christians (servants of Christ) yet by their own definitions (since they refuse to accept Christ as God) they are serving two masters--we become slaves of that which we serve (Matthew 6:24)--and the Father, jealous God that He is, will not allow them to serve two masters... of course, if they serve Jesus they are serving only one Master (John 13:13): Jesus is the Lord of lords and the King of kings, outside of Him there are no masters! How do they intend to keep Jesus and the Holy Spirit from dwelling in the Believers? (John 14:16-17, 23) How do they intend to separate the Lamb from the Throne of God, or to keep the Lamb from receiving any praises or from being the Light of the New Jerusalem? (Revelation 5:6,8; 5:13; 6:16; 7:10; 7:17; 22:1; 22:3) How do they intend to wrench the Father from the Son as they are inseparable since they live in each other?: John 14:10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. "Please find a JW study forum." Tara's and the Jehovah Witnesses' delimma is that they seek to worship God in finite understanding because they cannot conceive that God would come in the likeness of man (who is created in God's image and likeness), take upon Himself our sins, allow the creatures to kill His body made of flesh and bones, and return to His Heavenly Throne! They can understand the law of nature... they even accept it's subversion (animals eating grass (before the fall), then animals eating flesh (after the fall), and back again to animals eating grass (new earth)... but it is inconceivable to them that God, who is Spirit, could be Three Persons in One! Blindly, they feel for the truth and though almost tasting it, they reject Him because it is easier to deminish God to their finite understanding than to raise themselves to God's Divine Revelations! We must pray for them; we must pray that the Holy Spirit bless them with Understanding and Faith! God Bless! Angel |

331 | One God, One Jesus Christ | 1 Cor 8:5 | JCrichton | 130266
Hi, Tara! I see that you have clear understanding of terminologies... could you please apply them to yourself! You fail to listen to the Holy Spirit, the third Person of God, who instructs us with Scripture: John 1:1-14 The Word Became Flesh In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. THE WORD IS GOD THE WORD BECAME FLESH THE WORD IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD THE LIGHT CREATED EVERYTHING THAT EXISTS (both visible and invisible) JOHN THE BAPTIST--a mere human--IS NOT THE LIGHT THE WORD IS THE LIGHT CHIRST IS THE LIGHT! Revelation 21:22-24 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. What part of Scripture do you not understand? Is it: "THE LORD GOD ALMIGHT AND THE LAMB ARE ITS TEMPLE?" ...or is it: "THE GLORY OF GOD GIVES IT LIGHT, AND THE LAMB IS ITS LAMP?" I pray that the Holy Spirit enlighten your mind and spirit so that you may truly become Jesus' obedient servant! If does not suffice to call yourself Christian while professing antiChristian doctrines--Jesus, the only name given by which all will be saved, will have nothing to do with you (Revelation 3:16)... after all, it is He that will grant or deny your entrance into the New Jerusalem! (Revelation 21:27) God Bless! Angel |

332 | Do we receive *holy *spirit as a gift? | Luke 11:13 | JCrichton | 130191
"However, I am (along with being a capitalizer) a counter of pronouns of Deity." Hi, Ray! I follow what you are saying... I either use my personal Bible (in context) or an online Bible (when time is constricting)... to me Jesus is always the Son of man who happens to be both Man (deity) and man (human)... the Holy Spirit is always the third Person of God, but though He risides in us as the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Christ and the Spirit of the Father) He communicates with our spirit about spiritual things... though I find that there are distinguishing modes of language I would always employ capitalization to demonstrate God's Divinity while using lower case to demonstrate our finite existence as mere creatures. So the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, will always be Helper to me... just as the Lord is my Rock and my Salvation... I understand that, depending on the translators, certain emphasis are made throughtout the Bible (to the exclusion of words like Abba/ABBA, Amen, El Roi, El Shaddai, Yahweh... and the inclusion of more modern and less offensive language), so I keep several translations to check against my personal Bible... since I do not follow any of their prescription as to when or not capitalize I ignore those that over emphasize (i.e.: Son of Man contrary to my view of Son of man) and I emphasize my personal text even when I respect the emphasis or lack thereof when I cite Scripture ad verbum (i.e. "the spirit of God" will always be the Spirit of God... when I am employing my own redactions). Some translation emphasize the spoken words of Jesus by fully capitalizing every letter... others highlight Jesus words in red or some other color... still others emphasize certain text to highlight a built in concordance... I find that all are helpful, in their own ways, but I prefer a version that has a built in concordance with ample footnotes that explain the ancient names of God, the various cities and even the names of the various prominent individual (Moses, Jacob, Bethel, Urim and Thummim...) ...the Corinthians reference... I thank you for being so understading... sometimes a key stroke gets flustered and lost in the "translation!" You had the acumen to see it as such and the patience to offer the verse that was intended as the correct reference! "What I am considering with you is whether He is a holy spirit and the Holy Spirit as well." Regardless of the translation, to me it will always be the Holy Spirit... the only time it will not be capitalized is if the reference is to our spirit: since we are not Divine, that which is of God remains Spirit (He who dwells in us) while that which refers to our awareness and compliance with God will be spirit (as my spirit searches for the guidance--which could be Guidance, as it is directly related to the Holy Spirit's Will and direction--of God's Spirit). ""and in your spirit which are of God"." I see no problem with including this verse also, as it emphasizes God's gift! Also, this is a excellent example of what I was trying to convey: I would not capitalize the "s" as it pertains to our spirit, that essence of God which works within us and though rationed from God's Holy Spirit does not exalt us to the position of deity. God Bless! Angel |

333 | A SIN TO FILE BANKRUPTCY | 1 Pet 4:10 | JCrichton | 130186
"We honor them for their faith and well we should, but we should also give ‘kudos’ to the parents that initially taught them." Hi, EdB! Exactly! It goes back to the values being taught and accepted as sound values... When we allow television and the rest of the entertainment industry to rear the future generations how can we cry out to God with the "woes" and "whys?" "We have learned to value things that decrease in value the minute we purchase them and disregard things that that will live on long after us." This to is part of the capitalist culture... remember when cars were made to last? Remember when manufacturers placed commercial adds that spoke on their pride to provide America with the "Best" products? Remember when bath soap came on a family-size (not this wimpy 4.2 oz) or when it was preached that breakfast was the most important meal of the day--before everything was saturated with oil or sugar or salt? As we've bought into the "in-crowd" mentality we've traded sound judgment for "plastic makes it happen--even if beyond our means" mentality--after all, that's why God gave us bankruptcy! The saddest part of this picture is that people are suffering not just from financial bankruptcy but also from spiritual bankruptcy as they knowningly live beyond their means, accure debts that they cannot repay within a reasonable amount of time, and they go on thinking that God must provide for them "any day now--they've seen on that DVD from x evangelist that promises them the ability to unlock all of God's wealth secrets!" God Bless! Angel |

335 | A SIN TO FILE BANKRUPTCY | 1 Pet 4:10 | JCrichton | 130101
Hi, EdB! Sorry to interject here... I think that the problem is endemic of a society that has been continuously promiting the wrong values: Capitalism and consumption are the deities that people are subliminally trained to serve. Remember when cartoons and movies were just that... at the end of the 70's they became a marketing tool for the major conglomerates (action figures, clothing, trinkets...)... when we watch a program (movie, series, talk show...) most of its content is geared towards wealth/consumption... even the homeless are depicted in spanking-new-designer-brand attires! ...in New York City, NY and in Newark, NJ kids are being crammed into anything that passes for a classroom and many are sent home with text books that are missing not only inner pages but even covers... yet the entertainment industry portrays classrooms of 15 to 20 students who are benefiting from the latest technological equipments... Further, through both programs and advertisments, children are being taught to be frivolous, inconsiderate, gluttunous... the general rule is that the parents set the standards for their household and children, but when children are being bombarded with countless waves of "buy this," or "own that ...and you are going to be the coolest..." ...parents do not stand a chance! Yesterday's children are today's young adults who have been well trained in the ole mighty dollar: consume, consume, consume, for tomorrow you will die! God Bless! Angel |

336 | Just what is the purpose of baptism? | Heb 11:7 | JCrichton | 129944
"Please believe me, and this is meant for everyone's reading. I'm NOT trying to say that baptism is a work or part of a system of earning something, least of all our Salvation." Hi, Rowdy! I understood you clearly... this is why I took the liberty in expanding on your thoughts... many times Christians end up on different sides of the table because of simple misunderstandings... We know that Christ alone is Salvation, but baptism does not take away from this; rather, baptism is commanded by Him as a public demonstration of our acceptance of God's Authority as we humbly submit to His Command to become one of His people... It is simple to say: "I believe in my heart!" But words can be as empty as a vacuum when not translated into live practice! In baptism we submit to the Father as Christ, through example, taught us to do! God Bless! Angel |

338 | why was the thief saved without baptism? | Luke 23:43 | JCrichton | 129881
Hi, J. Elkins! Perhaps it is too late and I am missing your point altogether... but let me share this with you: As the Lamb of God Jesus is bound by Scripture to fulfill all that the Son of man was comissioned to do (Matthew 3:15), and in order to accomplish everything required of Him Jesus gave up His Authority (Philippians 2:5-8) but not His Divinity (John 10:17-18; Matthew 9:6). Unlike us (and the disciples) Jesus is not bound by our limitations! Satan was not a fool when he tempted Jesus--he knew that Jesus could do whatever He pleased at any given time! So it is not surprising that Jesus, who is the Resurrection and Life, granted clear passage into Heaven to the man who confessed and believed that He was the Lord! God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Songbirdca! Also note that there is a transition at the foot of the Cross which reflects Revelation 12:17... though many would like to think of Revelation 12 speaking about the Church, we must understand that the Church did not bear the Messiah (Jesus), it was the woman--conversely, the Church originated in Christ and not the other way around!
