261 | Is there such a thing as a false Christ? | 1 John 4:3 | JCrichton | 133874
"I think that you should become aware that verse 17 with its "But" shows a difference in spirit between the one who joins himself with the harlot and the one who joins himself to the Lord." Hi, Ray! I am aware of this fact... but when I state false Christs, I am not saying that Christ is false or that He is anything other than God! I have known people who think that they are serving Christ by claiming His Name--yet, they submerge themselves in spiritualism (contacting the realm of the dead), astronomy (searching for truth and guidance in symbols and planets), and numerology (seeking a divine path to God through a bogus science)... all these brush with the occult in one way or the other... but these people (the ones I've met) do not distinguish between the fellowship of Christ and those "mediums." In essence they have created a false teaching (as Santeria--a mixture of Catholicism and Voodoo)... we can witness a similar "false" Christ in the verious public people who profess to be Christian (by word, affiliation to a Christian congregation, or carrying a cross); yet the Christ they follow is a mixture of "feel good," Oriental/Asian spiritualism, and their own interpretations of Christ! Sadly, those who become one with abomination will never, simultaneously, be one with Christ, yet they live the fallacy that God is good and all forgiving so people are free to worship as they please; hence the "false" Christ! 262 | Would this be biblically accurate? | Luke 18:11 | JCrichton | 133872
"I would ask on what biblical basis are they in the minority? I had referenced a verse to you that the human heart is desperately sick. Who can understand the heart? It's sin illness goes deeper than any of our own individual discernment. " Hi, Reighnskye! I truly do not understand your argument... there is no Scriptural basis to suggest that people judge others--there is however a command not to judge! (Matthew 7:1) ...from the verse you cited (Jeremiah 17:9)--we are all guilty of ill-judgment; at least those of us with a heart! "Rather, I believe that internal things (such as pride, hate, pain, fear) also possess a vast influence on people." I do not disagree with you... but these are mostly learned traits--fear is a natural instinct that's built into every creature's self-preservation mechanism... but when children are exposed to extreme pride, hate, and egocentrism, a wicked fear is created: prejudice--not the natural inclinations to choose beauty over drabness or to choose coke over pepsy... but the dark extreme of discrimination on race/religion/nationality... no human child is born with the fear of a color/ethnicity/culture/class (financial)... "Although children may appear extremely superficial, and therefore easily manipulated by their environment," Please understand, I am not implying that children are empty of morals or values... I am stating that what society is offering them is! The beautiful creation made good by God is tarnished and consequently corrupted by values that are anti-Christ! So without the benefit of a strong Scriptural fellowship we are doomed to fail... have you noticed how the very first words mastered by most people learning a new language are obscene words?... have you noticed how even the newscasters (inclusive of all levels) smile even when reporting on death--by extension, have you notice how most people, (inclusive of victims, relatives, friends, and acquaintances) smile for the camera while speaking on any subject (good/bad news)? That is a learned process! Through movies and televions programs we have learned to trivialize death, murder and any and all atrocity commited to/by humans... We are all sinners, that is true enough; but we have only to say yes to Jesus and we can be rescued from ourselves! This is my argument: we are all predisposed of dark/evil deeds, yet, if we subject ourselves to Christ, we can overcome everything, even ill-judgment of others and the pain and suffering of our past! (Philippians 4:13) God Bless! Angel |

263 | Would this be biblically accurate? | Luke 18:11 | JCrichton | 133728
"something much deeper is going on with these kids on a subconcious and/or unconscious level" Hi, Reighnskye! Sadly, there's very little going on, subconsciously, on much of these youths... this is precisely the problem! They are being bombarded by a slew of egocentric superficial values that assaults them from left-to-right, even while on school grounds! The “pretend-to-help” Talk Shows have had their fill of child-on-child and child-on-adult violence... most of these "test" cases evolved around the old she said/he said or she thinks/he thinks attitudes... these are kids who are growing up in household of caring parent/s and are simply playing “follow the leader” as they subject themselves and others to all sorts of denigrating behavior--all of it due to judgment! As television programs and movies portray the superficial values as the best an only acceptable "goods" in society we will continue to witness "judgment" as society’s currency... ...of course, I am not denying that there are legitimate occurrences where people harbor deep-seated resentment, founded on negative past experiences, which causes them to not only unjustly judge others but also themselves... yet, for the largest part, these are in the minority... You only have to go to a public movie theater to witness just how morally bankrupt our society is becoming... I mean, when people, as a group, cheer for those characters that are gratuitously killed or abused... how can anyone expect those particular member of the audience to have sound ego and not be judgmental in society at large? And these distorted values are being fomented in all levels of society... have you noticed the latest television commercials? Advertising geniuses are selling egocentrism as the apex of a "feel good" or "too bad for them” culture… I mean, there’s even one commercial where a woman begins her presentation as a benevolent person who does not wish her suffering on even her worst enemy… only to back-step and profess that yes she would wish it on her enemy! With such values flooding the minds of people on a daily basis, is it any wonder that even the young among us are judgmental of everything and everyone, including their own parents? “To think that kids are violently assaulting each other on the mere basis of obtaining a pair of shoes” Perhaps I did not explain myself well enough… I am not suggesting that kids are assaulting each other because they want to obtain (rob) something the others have… I am saying that if you use public transit or you gather in public environment most of the conversations is about “this person said” “this person thinks…” Even when on the cell phones--they speak loud enough for all to hear--you can hear their concern about who wore what and how tacky or how they have to show them… there used to be a time when young people were concerned with meeting the right girl/guy, getting the grades, improving their personal skills… now it is about outshining or outwitting those who they consider a lesser person than themselves… Jesus commanded the disciples (which would be all Christians) to think of themselves as less than others (the servant of others)… if we learn to humble ourselves we would not judge others but see them as equal! On the other hand, society is bent on teaching us to egotistical and to judge all others as a lesser person than ourselves--how can a undisciplined (in Scripture) mind not end up but judging others as inferior to itself? So… my argument is that the largest portion of people who judge others do it not because of some deep-rooted feelings but out of the cultural values that they are exposed to on a daily basis! God Bless! Angel |

264 | Anarchy or pacifism? What's biblical? | Ex 3:9 | JCrichton | 133417
Hi Batunde! ...you just burst my bubble! As I was reading the query I had in mind to offer the explanation you have rendered! I will only add that both Moses and Daniel occupied themselves in fulfilling God's orders! It was God who placed Moses as a god to Pharaoh and Israel; just as it was God who placed David within a preferred circle and gave him the ability to decipher the various queries presented to him. God Bless! Angel |

266 | Is inter cultural marriage advisable? | 2 Cor 6:14 | JCrichton | 133265

267 | Is inter cultural marriage advisable? | 2 Cor 6:14 | JCrichton | 133262
Hi, Janae! Excellent point on David's descendency... many bigoted people think that they can use the Old Testament mandates to claim Scriptural separation of race and ethnicity... They reject every passage where Yahweh tells His people that if foreigners come to live among them and they subject themselves to all that is prescribed to the people of Israel they are to be treated as the children of Israel; there is further Scripture that commands that foreigners bought as slaves (who being subject to their masters would adopt all of the religious obligations of their masters) be allowed to partake of all worship as part of their owners household... As you so rightly expressed, Scripture does not teach separation of race/ethnicity but separation of worship! Yahweh is a jealous God and He did not allow His people to share His Glory with others--and God does not change! God Bless! Angel |

268 | Spiritual dilemma | James 5:9 | JCrichton | 133260
Hi, Janae! I did not mean to infer that you were going off topic--I meant that I was side-stepping the thread in order to query you about your name... From the Scriptural passages you cited I can see that the Holy Spirit has enabled you to understand that through Love Jesus can conquer your friend's errors... Many times Satan uses or pride to blind us to the Truth (Christ) and he uses our errors to blind the brethren that could assist us in returning to the Fold... yet when we obey God, Scripture convicts us of the Truth and allow us to bring the lost sheep back: Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:8-9) Our love for God must burn in our hearts as well as our compasion for those who fail Him: it is God's love, through us that can rescue humanity! God Bless! Angel |

269 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | JCrichton | 133257
Hi, Janae! Sometimes people play advocate for both sides of the argument... so though I did recognize your name from another thread... I was not sure where you were heading with this one... As you mentioned, you tasted God's mercy, savored it, and still refused to fellowship with Him... if He were like us He would have given up on you and your family... but God is not a man to take back His Gift... Be confident in the Lord, pray constantly, and maintain your fellowship with Christ... His Holy Spirit can rescue your ex-husband from his eminent death! Through your love and devotion, your children will also learn to trust the Lord and maintain fellowship with Christ! Thank you for your witnessing to God's Love, Mercy and Patience... I know that there are people searching for answers that, by reading your testimony, can came to humble obedience and acceptance of God! God Bless! Angel |

270 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | JCrichton | 133207
Hi, Janae! I just caught this thread... are you saying that you are an unbeliever that asked God in prayer/s for something? If that is your statement, I have to disagree with you... We may be ignorant of God (lacking familiarity with Scripture) or we may be burdened with doubt and misinformation (aware of God's Word but misguided by self-interpretation or erroneous teachings)... but the second we go to Yahweh with our concerns we cease being an unbeliever! If this is your trek... I suggest to you to get a Bible, speak to Christians in your neighborhood, engage this and other Christian forums, and develop your relationship with Christ! Feel free to contact me at: jcrichtonfs1 at yahoo.com I will pray that that Holy Spirit guide you to God and enlighten your life! God Bless! Angel |

271 | Spiritual dilemma | James 5:9 | JCrichton | 133204
Hi, Janae! (This is out of topic... do you know if your name has any French roots?... I am curious because that is a name from my early childhood (Jean-Janae to be precise... I don't know where they got it but it was one of my pseudonyms!) I am glad that you were assisted on the forum... I understand your worries ("He did not treat God with respect and his words were demeaning to God.")... for some reason some "Christians" think that they have such an intimate relationship with God that they can say/demand anything and that, through their special relationship, God's OK with it... Since I do not know the exact contenct of his words I can only caution you to stay alert! It is one thing for friends/relatives to use familiar tones with each other but it is waaaay disrespectful for us to address/speak of God in such terms... I mean, just listen to Scripture in reference to Satan: Nevertheless, these people are doing the same: in their delusions they not only defile their bodies and disregard Authority, but abuse the Glories as well. Not even the archangel Michael, when he was engaged in argument with the devil about the corpse of Moses, dared to denounce him in the language of abuse; all he said was, 'May the Lord rebuke you.' (Jude 1:8-9) So if the archangel Michael had such respect for Satan, we, who are not yet what we will become, how much more respect should we have for God? Now, difficult as it may be, you can still love someone while seeking to bring him/her to full fellowship with God--lovingly teaching him/her about the error/s being committed... it may take the effort of several members working and praying together for that particular cause... it may take extensive prayer sessions... but with your love you can rescue your brother in Christ (not you yourself but God through your intercession)! God Bless! Angel |

272 | Is God male as opposed to female? | Matt 28:19 | JCrichton | 133098
"I don't believe that a mortal mind can truly comprehend God's full nature," Hi, Reighnskye! I respect your opinion and I totally agree with part of your statement (quoted above)... Yet, the fact that God applied the male gender to Himself (as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and the fact that He chose the male to represent Him in matters of worship and leadership (with the exception of a few far-in-between females) lead me to believe that He has preferred the male gender as His identifying sex--though I do concur with you, this self-definition is not dependent on male reproductive organs! God Bless! Angel |

273 | did Jesus desend to hell and preach | Acts 2:31 | JCrichton | 133053
"it seems that Hades consists both of a place of torment and a place of 'paradise'." Hi, James! I have quite some problem understanding your statement... is Abraham in hell (Hades)? Is hell an extension of heaven? What I understand from Scripture is totally different from your statement: Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's embrace. The rich man also died and was buried. 'In his torment in Hades he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off with Lazarus in his embrace. So he cried out, "Father Abraham, pity me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames." (Luke 16:22-24) For your statement to be correct, than Abraham must not be in Heaven or Heaven coexists within a boundary with hell (Hades)... and all the holy people of God who die must end up in Abrahams embrace (some versions have bosoms)... additionally, it must not be a great distance of separation since the rich man recognizes both Lazarus and Abraham by sight, and is able to communicate readily with them... Could this had been just a study tool? I mean, how much moisture would Lazarus' finger must hold in order to relieve the burning suffered by the rich man? Jumping to the assertion that Paradise is next to Hades (hell) would be limiting Jesus' Divinity--God is everywhere at once (Ephesians 1:23; Romans 11:36) so clearly Jesus could promise Paradise at the moment of His death and still preach to the spirit (not angels) of those who died prior to His incarnation, death and resurrection (1 Peter 3:19-20; 4:6). There is no limit to God's Omnipotense! (Matthew 19:26; 1 Corinthians 15:6) God Bless! Angel |

274 | Did Mary remain a virgin? | Matt 12:47 | JCrichton | 133033
"It doesn't matter. They are legally married whether it's performed in Catholic church or a root cellar. Or whether it's performed by a priest, judge, or ship's captain. There simply is no need to renew vows in order to make it a "Christian" marriage." This is just an example of a post that is a general statement... is there a Biblical passage that agrees with every point made? Does Scripture stipulate that any coming to gether is a marriage? Were there marriages being performed by any Peter, Paul or James within the Jewish/Biblical culture? This is just to demonstrate that people do post their arguments without the simplest Scriputure notation... as I said in my previous post to you on this matter: "But to please you and keep your mind at ease, I shall from know on refrain from any comment that does not have a Biblical reference attached to it!" (2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Corinthians 4:16) God Bless! Angel |

277 | Did Mary remain a virgin? | Matt 12:47 | JCrichton | 132977
Hi, Steve! Sorry to have broken your golden rule! Since I have noticed that others have posted comments, arguments or questions without using a particular Biblical text, I thought that I could also make such references! But to please you and keep your mind at ease, I shall from know on refrain from any comment that does not have a Biblical reference attached to it! 2 Timothy 2:15--I thought I should throw somethig in lest I grieve you any further! God Bless! (This is extrapolated from Romans 12:14--which in turn followed Jesus' Command (Luke 6:28) to offer the Father's Blessing to all--we are called to Bless and not to curse; by indulging ourselves in negativism we obliterate the Holy Spirit's work on us... so my final remark is always "God Bless!" as He can and will bless all who come to Him in obedience; so I chose such phrase that my desire to Have Yahweh Bless others would bring His Blessings upon me as well!) |

278 | Did Mary remain a virgin? | Matt 12:47 | JCrichton | 132976
Hi, James! Have you noticed how many times James and Joseph and Simon are used in Scriture? There is this James (the brother of John) who is the son of Zebedee... yet in some Biblical passage it speaks of James the son of Zebedee and John his brother (Matthew 10:3; Mark 3:17)... would that mean that John is not the son of Zebedee, but that he is only a half brother of this particular James... or more approprietly, could it not be that James is the eldest son of Zebedee? Rather than grabbing on to something and running with it, when there are various factors that remain unknown or when the preponderance of the factors that are available yield no conclusive evidence, I rather err on the side of caution. "I was just taking what I read in the Bible at face value." On face value, who is responsible for the care of the Jewish elderly parents, a surviving son/daughter or an associate? If it is the surviving children, why did Jesus offer His only earthly possession, to John, a non-blood relation? Would Jesus be demonstrating His disapointment at his sibblings disbelief so on His death He relieved them of their relationship with His Mother? So either Jesus acted in retaliation or there were no next of kin to care for Mary--it is as face value as it can get! Again, on face value, where were Jesus' younger sibblings during his escapade, at age 12, did the good parents of Jesus decided that they were too much of a hasle to take them with them on the family trip or were they careless only with Jesus, since they misplaced only Him? Clearly, not until His adulthood is there any mention of someone related to Him other than Joseph and Mary! There are some that hold the view that Ishmael is the true descendant of Abraham, since he was first born to Abraham--it is impirical face value: Ishmael was born prior to Isaac! In light of this face value truth, would you then say that an error has been committed by Yahweh and Israel, and Jesus and the Apostles...? Clearly, there are additional factors that must be considered--one fact in particular is that it is God's Will to make things happen according to His Divine Plan... Abraham and his wife were looking to have an offspring, they made a decision and committed themselves to what they thought was the only possible means to their goal... God allowed it only to demonstrate His Supremacy: from an infertile womb He can create a nation! Jesus' birth was awaited by a remnant for many hundreds of years... it happened as God saw fit and when He determined it to be... We want to limit Mary and Joseph to our understanding of human-God relationship while boasting of our power to know God and His Plan due to our advanced spirituality! We go to a house of worship and we are pleased with ourselves because we "sacrificed" the things of the world to be with God (for a few hours)... all the time denying Mary and Joseph the ability to be above the world, in a life dedicated to serving the Prince of Peace! "At the same time, it's interesting that you base your conclusion in part on the Catholic Church's teaching." Unless, the Holy Spirit had lost His way and could not Minister Jesus' Church for about fifteen-hundred years, the Church existed as Christ testefied in Matthew 16:18... so, yes, I rather listen to the Church and base my belief on what Scripture and the Church teach, instead of running with someone's "revelation" of Scripture--much of which is "personal revelation" which is not Bible-inclusive but individual-view inclusive! God Bless! Angel |

280 | Homosexuality, sin or not? | 1 Cor 6:9 | JCrichton | 132841
Hi, LibertyBelle! The abomination of Sodom and Gomorrah is this: They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing. Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof." "Get out of our way," they replied. And they said, "This fellow came here as an alien, and now he wants to play the judge! We'll treat you worse than them." They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door. (Genesis 19:5-9) Lot offers a virgen sacrifice to these depraved people, who would rather lust after a man than a woman, and they reject the woman and threaten Lot with bodily harm if he does not allow them to have sex with the men! There is no mistaking sexual depravity with lack of hospitability! God Bless! Angel |
