41 | Can we put doctrine into practice? | Eph 5:25 | In the Andes | 54104
I am just thoroughly shocked. I don't even know what to say. I mentioned Job in 1 posting and got 21 that's twenty one responses. And it's not over yet. I asked a question about how to treat our wives better and got 3 responses plus a two word answer that makes no sense. I'm not down on everybody, but i'm a little disappointed. I mean, It took a woman to write and say begin with kind words backed up by kind actions. Are there only 3 of us that are married in this sight? Or is it more fun to argue doctrine? Awaiting your responses. By the way Mom...Thanks for being honest. So, aside from your previous response. Would you like to say something to all us husbands out here in internet land. Maybe they don't know how to ask to be a better husband. So i'll do it. |

46 | Are you asking about a mystical body | Eph 5:25 | In the Andes | 54285
Just out of curiosity, if you die before the rapture, do you float around in heaven like a vapor? Do you have any sort of form? Think about your answer because if you say that you look like you do on the earth, you are telling me that you have SOME KIND OF BODY. Body being recognizable form. If YOU being a spirit being out of your physical body have shape and form, why would God be any different? To say that visions of God are anthro. would be MORE speculation than assuming, that the scripture "let us create man in our image according to our likeness..." means that man was created in God's image. I'm thinking about something that Mrs b said, it's a damnable heresy. And something that Mcgracer said, We should not go beyond what is actually stated in scripture. What if man were actually patterned after God? Really created in His image, gk ikon. Our infinitely complex God, has chosen to reveal himself to man, through His word the bible. In that word, He does use figures of speech etc. Clearly to say "under wings" would be such. But, who is really qualified to say that mans form in a physical body is not representative of our creator. Yes God fills the whole wide universe. And yet, we claim that Jesus in His glorified flesh and bone body is omnipresent. Is that so? I believe it is. So why would it be heresy to think that man looks like God? Which is what scripture says. If God is as unfathomable as we all claim Him to be, if our brains are to tiny to understand Him, why would you ever argue the point about how God has chosen to reveal Himself to this tiny brained creature? If God says that He has hands and a back and a face, SO THAT MAN CAN RELATE AND UNDERSTAND HIM who could call it heresy to "believe" so we can understand what our incomprehensible unfathomable God is like. By faith we understand....that the ages were framed at Gods command. You cannot explain it, you can only believe it because it is ALL GOD HAS GIVEN US IN HIS WORD TO BELIEVE. I have something more important to say, so you should read my response to the DAKE BIBLE QUESTION. |

I understand what you are saying. But if we were to stop doing everything that might cause an offense, we would be left with nothing. I.e. In India, they consider playing cards a sin. The pentecostals believe that if a woman cuts her hair it's a sin or wears pants. Paul said that weak Christians eat only vegetables. Here in Chile, it's NOT a sin to drink wine, but it is in the states. The list is endless. Paul told us to have faith before God. If I'm around a weak christian I should be aware of his conscience. But I'm not going to buy 2 sets of clothes. Have 2 different cars, and live in 2 different houses to please everybody. Personally, As a missionary. I'm offended (if you will allow me to use that word loosely, as I endeavor to live an unoffended life) by MUCHINARIES. Those missionaries that go to the states wearing old ratty clothes, begging for money, and showing slides of starving babies to get offerings. Or better yet, by christians who think missionaries ought to be poor, because they are stingy and pass it off as "the Lord's will". I've got to be careful not to pass judgement upon them because they just don't know any better. When I first moved here, my wife and I lived without furniture for 7 months. (We did have a bed) But nothing else. We eventually bought a plastic table and 2 chairs. We were content (not dependent upon, grateful, and self sufficient) with what we had. But we recongnized this was not God's will for us. After 7 months of rejoicing in God's provision someone sent us an offering to fill our house. Eventually we gave away our living room suit to a Chileno. 5 months later, God gave us a leather couch. It's a blessing from God, why should I give away what God Himself gave me (I didn't spend 1 centavo (cent) of my own money on it) because some christians are "offended" that it was expensive. "You should sell that couch and use the money to feed the poor" blah blah blah, You sell something that you own. That's what I'm talking about. Who has the right to judge how I live before God? God has been good to us. We are very careful not to bring a reproach upon the Gospel. We take nothing from the Gentiles. 3 John. Our standard of living is comparable to what we left in the states. Mark 10:29-30 The quality of things is a bit different. But that's just because I live in another nation. What bothers me most is the fact that many of God's servants (specifically missionaries) are living substandard lives simply for lack of knowledge. Yes, there are some nations where missionaries go that are backwoods kind of places. Why should they have to come home and beg also. We should take care of God's laborers. My wife and I financially support several missionaries. That's why we didn't have money to buy furniture. We prefer to give into the Kingdom of God and let HIM BLESS US. The truly amazing thing is, because of our obedience, He's given us everything we've asked for. God is Good. And the church argues whether or not it's God's will to bless His children. Where I grew up, when a man didn't take care of his children, we called it child abuse. |

Oh my gosh! See that's exaclty what I mean. Christians freak out when you say that God desires to bless His children with stuff, and the very reason for it is to be a blessing. I say, Prosperity without purpose is poison. But According to Gen 12:1-3 Part of the Blessing of Abraham was, "I will bless you and in you ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED." I believe that financial success is essential to every born again believer for that very purpose. To be a blessing, to provide for their own 1 tim 5:8, to provide for his brother 1 john 3:17, to provide for the Poor Gal 2:10, to provide for the church, 1 Cor 16:3 and to provide for the pastor 1 tim 5:17 and the missionaries 3 John 7-8 You know what. I feel really sorry for those people in the church who didn't support your ministry. When they get to heaven, I'm sure God will say to them "Well you're done, cheap and stingy servant. I'm so proud of you. You were really stingy. You did such a good Job of keeping Justme without money. I really needed help keeping him humble." Did you hear the sarcasm in my words? Unfortunately I cannot discuss my mission organization in public. Other than we've got schools all over the world. We've been talking about commandments in the NT in another forum, A good NT command is "Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especailly those who labor in the Word and doctrine." 1 Tim 5:17. Honor in context being salary. I believe that the Elders refered to in scripture are most often Pastors, Since I am NOT a Pastor of a church, I can say, Every Pastor ought to be highly paid. Especailly with all the junk they have put up with. My heart goes out to you! I work with Pastors daily helping them to succeed in ministry. I have some idea of what you went through. Ciao, |

No one ever said the Gospel is about money. No one ever said that to be a blessing it always requires money. Pro 22:2 Does not say that God makes one man rich and another poor. IT SAYS GOD MADE THE MAN. You should read the rest of the proverbs. Pr 18:13. I don't believe you've ever heard the whole story. It's obvious from your attack against my character. Of course evil men are blessed. The children of the world are often wiser that the children of the kingdom. According to Prov. wisdom in the area of finances brings wealth. No one said our purpose was the pursuit of wealth. You are NOT QUALIFIED to judge me and tell me I am not content. That position is the Lords. And THAT is precisely my point. Who is qualifed? Let me share a little something with you. I don't receive offerings from those to whom I'm preaching the Gospel. I'll tell you what though. It takes a great deal of money to do what I do. When was the last time YOU got on an airplane to go preach in another nation? It wasn't free was it. NO! I'll tell you what. You and a whole bunch of other christians would rather that I backpack from the states to Chile. Spending 80 or 90 percent of my time trying to find cheap lodgings and begging for rides from the nationals. Eating food that's not fit for the dogs! NO. I'm not going to do that unless I have NO OTHER OPTION. The fact is I do have other options. Why should be exhausted every time I get into the pulpit. I preach an average of 4 hours a day. 4 days a week, not counting Saturdays and Sundays. The Lord has instructed me to start 3 new schools here in this nation. Do you know one of them is 8 hours south of my home. I'm not going backpack down there. I'll take the bus as that's what I can afford. And when God prospers me, I'll begin taking a plane. That's every weekend now, 6 hours every Saturday and not including Sunday. Monday will be MY only day off. We are now in the process of planting churches. We've started 2 and have 4 more to do by the end of the year. Why don't you ask me how much that costs? Transportation, workers, advertisement, renting buildings, renting sound equipment. NO THE APOSTLE PAUL DIDN'T HAVE TO RENT BUILDINGS. He lived in a completely different culture than I do. He went into the synagogues, etc. Why don't you ask me how much is in my savings account? 0! You know why, cause ever penny I get keeps me here doing the will of God. I'm doing what I can with what I have. My vision is big. And God is sending us faithful people to get behind it. The more I have the more I can do. And I'll eventually have more. And those that aren't offended by it, will be laborers together with us, and will have "fruit abounding to their account." Won't they be surprised when they find out how many souls were wrought under their name. (I feel like the apostle Paul defending my apostleship to the Corinthians 2 Cor 10-11) And there's absolutely nothing more fulfilling or rewarding OR EXCITING than what I'm doing. This weekend I saw several several people got born and again and healed. There's absolutely NO substitute for it. I've NOT reduced the Gospel down to money. I know exactly what it is. God's got a bigger problem than a few preachers with their prioritys out of line. And as I was about to tell you what it was He told me to drop the subject. So with that. I'm not mad or offended. I know so many young people who would love to give their lives to the mission but are constantly told that God is NOT interested in money and they know of no way to fulfill their dream. We are laborers together. 3 John. One go's one send's. One man said it like this. Either Go or Send a substitute. I just want to stir up the church to this! My motto is, I'm either gonna cause a revival or a riot but when I leave you'll never be the same again. Andes |

53 | Ten commandments should be obeyed . | 1 John 2:4 | In the Andes | 53718
I'm sorry, I must completely disagree with just about everything you said. Yes, the 10 have been set aside in favor of a new covenant. Please read, Romans, 2 Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, Galatians and Hebrews. Our NEW COVENANT, has but 1 commandment. That is the Commandment of love. Rom-Jude teach us how to live out that new covenant. It is NOT in the OT that the Father is revealed. But in the NEW. Jesus came and clearly showed us the Father. That was unheard of in the OT. He was God to them. Not Father. They were NOT born again. Read the gospel of John, YOU ARE OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL (john 8). Read 1 John. NOW WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD. All OT saints were servants, NOT Children. I enjoy seeing God's faithfulness to His people in the OT. It encourages me and blesses me. I learn from there mistakes. (1 Cor 10) But I do NOT go there to find His relationship with me. His Spirit is in me, He has written His laws in my heart and poured out fully His spirit and Love there. People who spend too much time in the OT are often overly critical, judgemental and eager to see God punish wickedness. See Jonah. Most often you hear them saying things like, "God is Judging America for her sin" Listen, God told Abraham He would spare Sodom and Gammorah if He could find 10 righteous people. Hey, you can find 10 righteous people in every church on every corner in every city in every state. |
