181 | Judgement or Discernment? | Rom 14:12 | GeorJoy | 89877
I really don't care whether anyone agrees with me or not. You have a right to your words. WE, myself included have a right; even a responsibility to spread "THE WORD." If it offends you, or you can't reconize it. So be it. Who's fault is that? If you had understood what I was saying, you would have understood what I said. I would suggest, Schmythe that you concern yourself more with your own prayer life and direction, rather than that of others. I will be held responsible for me. Likewise, you yourself. It would be to your benifit as well, if you were to concern yourself about the argumentative spirit you exuded in your note. We all have such a spirit. The wise control it. Fools let it control them. (I'm not calling you a fool.) I perfer wisdom. I'm sure you do too. Forgive me, there are times that test my control of that, spirit as well. I say this not to offend, for it is the fool who hates rebuke. (KJV)Pro 1:22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? God Bless George |

182 | Are we Stupid or Lazy? Our Soul at stak | Rom 14:12 | GeorJoy | 89878
You are correct 100 percent. I am wrong! However, we each have our own gift. We each are more mature in various gifts than others. In this and other matters, I am still growing. There is no doubt in my mind that if the Lord intends me to fan the flame, He will use me to do just that. Thanks George |

You are right Schmythe. The way I worded it, this post does contradict itself. I really mis-worded my thoughts therein. I claim responsibility for any confusion. My intent was that all should "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.. 2Ti 2:15 Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So, no I did not intend to say we were to leave people to fend for themselves. What I meant to say was that not only should one consider Rom 10:17, but they should also consider 2Ti 2:15 , for (2Pe 2:1) there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. I hope I have clarified my Error. George |

Hi EdB. I know you were addressing Schmythe in this note, but after reading his comment, I couldn't wait to see yours, for his desire for the pastorate reflects mine. In my mind and heart, I know it's no piece of cake. I know I'm not ready. I'm not even sure it's the Lords will for me. I have already wasted nearly half a century of my life. I have determined to dedicate the remainder of my life to the service of the Lord, in whatever capacity He decides. "Not mine, but Thy will be done." In having come to this determination, I have applied myself to reading, studying and “learning” The Word in it’s unleavened purity. I’m in the process of getting set up to get a degree in theology, or something of the sort through a previous church of ours in Ala. If you have read many of my posts, you should know me fairly well, to a point at least. I have come to respect and admire your opinion, and I would sincerely appreciate any comments, constructive criticism and advice you are willing to provide. Thanks George |

Hi Smythe. I know that I am coming in a little late on this discussion, but if you don't mind, I'd like to comment from my own "personal" experience. It used to confuse, confound and down right aggravate me when people would tell me that the answer "is" in the bible, when I simply could not find it. Sometimes I felt they thought I was stupid, or just making excuses cause they couldn't point it out therein. Now, many years later, after having read the majority, if not the entire bible over many times, (I make no claims of anything other than what I just stated,) I can understand what they were saying. I pray you will understand what I am saying, for this is the only way I know how to put it. Researching the Word of God is occasionally like being in a forest looking for one particular tree. One could search an entire lifetime and never find it, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there. On the other hand, he could just as easily haphazardly run across it one day when he wasn’t even looking. Likewise, if he were able to look down on the “entire forest,” as a whole, he would likely see that tree. As a whole, it is my experience that the bible says it all. Each book, chapter, verse and word is only a small part of the whole picture. “In its whole,” It’s there. Persistence is one of my strong points. It can be a hindrance though. Faith is the better of the two. George |

You are asking for the biblical definition of sin. I'll paraphrase a little and quote some. The rest is up to you. Nothing "of itself is a sin." GNB Jam 4:17 So then, if we do not do the good we know we should do, we are guilty of sin. It's not what goes in the mouth that is sin. It is what comes out, for what comes out of the mouth is from the heart. However, KJV 1Co 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? I am saved. I smoke. I know it stinks and is harmfull to the body. I also know that smoking will not void what Jesus did on the cross for me, and that his WORD says that there is a time for everything. When it's my time to quit those stinking things; it will happen. Meantime smoking is a sever hinderence to me spiritually, but "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God Rom 3:23." Anyone who says they have not sinned is a Liar and only fools themselves. If you are as I have been, the only way you will get the answers you are looking for is to get into the word for yourself. 2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. A topical search on the word sin will answer your question. Some do say that "we are left with our own understanding and interpretation of the Word." If it is truly by the Holy Spirit, it is not "our" interpertation. It is that of the Holy Spirit. George |

And, may I ask from where you acquired that "free will" which you so proudly lay claim to? Webster’s definition of Respect: high or special regard : ESTEEM Would you say that the Holy spirit respects the porn sights that are as readily available and as "free willed" as this one? I should think not. I would say that, according to scripture we who are chosen should consider having less pride in having made the correct choice according to what we consider our ”freewill,” give praise and thanks that through the Grace of God we have been given the discernment through the Spirit, to have made the right choice George |

Hi Hank Experiences and biblical studies have taught me that, "As a whole," the bible leaves no gray areas, and that there is no question that has been asked which is not directly or indirectly answered therein. Otherwise, I would have to totally agree with you. Those who can not see, will not see; who will not hear, can not hear. Yet those who diligently search WILL find. George |

195 | Just a thought. What's yours? | 1 Cor 11:18 | GeorJoy | 102611
If you have so “little,” and are so familiar with this forum, I would attest that you should better spend your time in a place other than this forum. Perhaps scripture. Are you so contented the little that you so proudly profess as "what little I have left" that you would condemn others who profess His service? Unlike many who have the luxury of retirement and their golden years, I work for a living. I put in an 8 to 12 hr day, come home and study for my theological degree, then scripture for 2 to 4 hrs, depending on my work day, and then if there is time, with bibles, commentaries and study material along side, I donate some time to this forum in hopes of passing on something that I myself have been blessed with. I spend much time researching each of my posts. How they are delivered may lack deplomacy, but I am working on that. The substance lacks for nothing. It is so easy to discern the thoughts of the those who quote scripture in defense of their simplemindedness. Perhaps dear soul, if those who would agree with such slanderous accusations as those in the note to which I respond, were to learn to accept the diversity of the church and at the very least, make an attempt to live by what they profess rather than through biblical ignorance, the condemnation of truth which they do not understand, they could consider abandoning their “politically correct, good ole boy,” tell me what I want to hear and nothing else attitude of which the afore mentioned note exuded, and serve the one who condemned such actions. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. One day dear soul, many herein and elsewhere will have called to memory the words, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” On that day it will be too late. For (and I paraphrase) “From those who have little, all will be taken, and to those who have much, much will be given.” If you don’t believe that is in scripture I, or someone I am sure can find it for you. IT IS NOT TOO LATE FOR one who admittedly has very little! BUT, that one is the one who can make the decision to gain, or continue to loose till all is taken. Dear soul, 2 Tim 2:15 states words to live by. For I am not ashamed to share my gift with those who will receive. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. And I would inject “to the humble, the meek and the weak and those who have little as well.” As to those who are “not called” to stand firm in the Word, I should say that you should not be so quick to JUDGE those who are. Exhorting in the Name of the “OUR” Lord and Savior Jesus Christ George |

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am of the impression that those of the Presbyterian faith do not believe in the speaking of toungs. Whether so or not, the trinity is the foundation. George |

As Paul said, I would rather you speak one word that the church understands than ten thousand that they do not. Toungs edify the individual, nothing and no one else. I guess if one had the guift of toungs, yet not that of interpritation, it would be "uttering meaningless syllables." Thanks for your input George |

There is the "Carismatic movement," and I am sure many more who abuse, misuse and misinterpret what is taught about such. Personally, I have never expected to hear another language like german or chinese or swahili. I wouldn't have reconized them as such if I had. I can't say that I am "fully" comfortable with everyone who professes to speak in toungs either. But I do know what Gods word says about the utterance of such. And the Holy Spirit has given me discernment. I should think that anyone who believes the word without trying to change it would also. I know that there are those who love to be noticed in church, and elsewhere as well, but I have no intention of letting their actions sway what I know of the word, and why I am in the church in the first place. I believe in toungs. Once again, I also know what Paul said about them. If one does not feel comfortable around toungs, fine. If another does, that's just as fine. The belief or disbelief of such isn't going to get one into or keep him out of heaven. Personally... If it's of God... and He said I could have it.... I WANT IT.... John, if you don't think it's of God, please, I don't want to hear it. God Bless George |

By the way John. Did I say they did? I simply asked a question. A simple yes or no would have been sufficient, I wasn't really expecting a debate on the subject, which was aside from the original question in the first place. George |

As I previously stated, I did not intend to spark a debate on this matter. It has nothing to do with the question posted and I respectfully decline your argument. Thus I consider it closed. George |
