4781 | Can we agree? | Hebrews | EdB | 17973
Kelkat I totally disagree I have worked and talked with many people that have walked away and the biggest reason is they believed something these individuals taught and when it fail to materialize the had nothing else to hold on to. If you have placed your total faith in the belief God has to do something just because you believe He will and when that doesn’t happen what do you have left? Not much. I dealt with a man that listened to these false teachers and believed God would heal his wife of cancer. His total faith was tied up in the principal. When his wife died he was stunned. God had to heal her, yet He didn’t. He had nothing left. If you haven’t seen the devastation left behind by the teachings of these individuals please do not make statements about it. I have to deal with the messes they leave behind everyday. faith |

Kelkat I don't beleive I said you did anything, did I? I said the teaching of these individuals paint is a picture of a god that is very puny. Is that not what I said? I will take the blame for a lot of things and probably rightfully so but please don't add to the list things I never did. :-) EdB |

4783 | can you lose your salvation | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 17919
Stew Blessing my brother? We meet again, alas, crossing the street and going in opposite directions. Immaturity most certainly is the reason for the “debate”. Since there is no way to resolve the debate (Calvinism/Arminianism has been raging for hundreds of years) it is immature to keep it up. But the point I was trying to make was if your living your life as best you can to please Jesus (John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.) you really don’t have to worry about what you can get away with. I used as an example if a person is saved the “debate” asks the question can a person murder someone and keep their salvation? I say the question is stupid if you living in Christ you simply won’t murder someone. Stew I used the example of adultery and murder for a person who is saved and then commits them, the question is do they remain saved as these acts are already under the blood or do they need to repent and place these acts under the blood. Again I really don’t care what the answer is because I don’t intend to do either. As for your question about Rahab I was trying to make the point, that the status of her salvation effects nothing other than where she will spend eternity. It has no effect on me, no effect on you, no effect on the millions that came before her and the millions after her. You correctly pointed out Paul and David, who in both cases were in sin they then repented of their sin and God forgave them. Which he has promised to do for you and I. The question of eternal security goes a step further it asks, using Paul for an example, if after being saved had he killed another would he still be saved or would he have to repent again. I say this is a stupid question, after Paul’s salvation he wouldn’t kill again. This “debate” is not about initial salvation it is about living after salvation. It comes down to a debate on what I can and can not do and still remain saved. All I’m saying is that is not how a Christian should approach salvation, A Christian should shoot for the best and let grace cover everything else. |

Stew I'm so sorry I confused you. I assumed we all understood the day to day imperfections that make us human are not what we are talking about. The debate over ‘once saved always saved’ is one where the question is asked can I kill someone and still be saved, can I commit adultery and still have salvation. The point I was trying to make is if your in such a situation and your concerned about your salvation, to me that means the Holy spirit is still at work in your life. If on the other hand your not involved in one of these sins I question why you care. What are you looking for loopholes? As far as acting childish I should have said “child like” or even rebellious. In so many debates the question comes up, “well what happens if I do this”, or “if I do that will God still forgive me?” It sounds like people are looking for limits rather than caring to be holy. Isn’t that ‘child like’ behavior we have all seen? Were a parent tells a child to not to do thus and such and the child pushes the limits to see how far he can get. That my friend is not an immature Christian that is being in rebellion. Again the whole debate over ‘once saved always saved’ or “eternal security” to me is like lawyers reading the tax laws. Few ever read it to see how much they can pay, most read it to see how little they can get away with. Our relationship with God should be based on more meaningful attributes than that. I hope that clears up any confusion I may have caused. Let me ask you a question. How does Rahab's eternal dwelling place effect where you are going to dwell? or where I am going to dwell? or the millions of people before and after her as to where they are going to dwell? EdB |

4787 | What is the best version of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 17739
Risen Okay so what is your point? Now that we have a Bible we throw it away because Abraham didn't have one? Where would we get all those verses you quoted? How would we know about Abraham? I can see your excited about Jesus and that is good, but unless we have and read the Bible we would be in the dark about the events recorded within. EdB |

4789 | When was "In the Beginning" | Gen 1:1 | EdB | 17703
Steve With all due respect I was asking CDBJ to give a little more information on what his source said about the gap in time between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2. I was not supporting or condemning Dake (although I visit Dake with great caution) nor was I supporting any particular theory. I simply asked if he was familiar with Dake’s gap theory and was it similar to the one from his source. Ed |

Apology accepted. Let's move on. I for one would like to hear more of what your source has to say. Are you familiar with Dake and the gap theory he expounded? Does your source hold a similar view or is there something else he focuses on. |

4791 | When was "In the Beginning" | Gen 1:1 | EdB | 17671
CDBJ I always question a person that attacks the character of another in a debate. What Hank said, in no way invited the response you posted. You don’t have to be clairvoyant to know and have a general understanding of the ‘Gap theory’. Dake expounded it over 40 years ago, so it is not something “NEW”. While what the author you cited says, may in fact be “NEW”, it is still based on, unprovable conjecture, just as Hank stated. Everything Hank said was true, while your response was nothing more than a personal attack on Hank. Since this is a “Christian Forum” is that really what you wanted to do? Believe me in one more point, Hank is not wasting his time in this forum with us dummies as you stated, his wisdom and steadiness has added a lot to this forum. |

Study these concerns within context and let the Holy Spirit lead you to the truth, you will never have wonder about them again. |

Retxar Understand the content of how this started. A forum member asked if he should trust his pastor. Through discourse it was found the problem was much bigger and people were offering suggestions how he could restore basic trust to his life. That was when someone suggested he start watching a group of individuals. Within that list was the names of some individuals that are have some really lousy teaching. The question I was faced with was keep my mouth shut, or speak up and say you may not want to watch these people, or a third option address the suggested list and making known the suggested list left something to be desired. I took the later. Then everyone wanted to know what was wrong. I then tried without getting into a lot of detail to explain what was wrong. Then I was accused of possibly using old info, being a witch hunter, and etc. Now you have given this very pious “I’m above that”. Great! That makes me feel good! There are folks leaving Christianity in droves because they fell hook, line and sinker for some of the theology they were taught by these individuals. When the storms of life blow into their lives, and because they had built on sand everything they had was washed away. They walk away bewildered and stunned. Everything they held so dear fell apart. They don’t know what to, the only conclusion they come tom is that God left them down. God didn’t leave them down! This stinking theology they were taught by a group of individuals was what left them down. Retxar I’m not attacking you or your theology. Your right we are not to judge another man’s slave, to their master they will stand or fall. However I think we still have a responsibility to try to prevent others from being hurt by false teaching. |

Retxar Please believe me I have no interest in twisting anything. I just want to help people see the fallacy of this teaching. God allowed me to be exposed to this teaching and further to see the effects it has on people when they finally realize it has failed them. I'm familiar with the teaching and I'm familiar with the buss words. I wasn’t putting words into Kelkat’s mouth, what I debunked was exactly the teaching that Kelkat had heard and was based on that buss word “dominion”. They take that word and many others twist it to their meaning, they then reinforce it using scripture out of context putting it all together they devise the false theology they teach. This may not seem like much but when you put the whole teaching that goes with this together you paint a picture of a god that is puny, weak and generally not worthy to be worshipped. These individuals teach that after Satan tricked God and got dominion of earth, God tried a number of times to get control back. He almost had it with Abraham but Abraham let God down and Satan regained control. It wasn’t until Jesus managed to slip on to earth in the form of a baby that God was able to gain control. This is just a brief rundown the teaching is days long and gets much worst. I'm sure you can see the problem with this theology. |

4799 | Can I trust this Pastor? | Hebrews | EdB | 17388
Jensen Well said! I want to apologize to you for being a part of this rhubarb with Kelkat. I hope you will think about what I had said. I pray you will find a Pastor that you can receive from, one who will minister to you and equip, edify and prepare you to go about the Lord's work. I pray that you find someone that doesn't try to impress you with his knowledge but instead loves on you. Keeping looking God has such a man for you. EdB |

4800 | will the world end soon | Matt 25:13 | EdB | 17354
What is wrong with this picture? What is wrong my friend is you can’t or will not read. Below is a brief sequential copy of the thread. You will notice IF YOU WILL ONLY READ what I wrote that NOWHERE did I challenge your position on the rapture. I said the rapture aside what you did say was astute (I now believe you stumbled on it). That was as you stated when people if they should find themselves wrong on the rapture would even run to false prophets and teachers. I said the fact that people would go look in the wrong place for a answers should be a concern to us all. As I have repeatedly said I’m not entering into the rapture debate I was simply trying to congratulate you on making an observation. You in turn have made every attempt to make me out the fool because you think for some reason I don’t support your position on the rapture. You my friend don’t know what I believe on the rapture from this thread because I never expressed it. That my friend is what is wrong with this picture. You have repeatedly tried to put me into a position opposite of you in reference to the rapture and I never stated my position. In other words you were arguing about nothing. Which makes me wonder seriously about anything you have to say. That is the picture you painted. Now before you add anymore color do yourself a favor reread this thread and then say “I’m sorry” Subject: will the world end soon Note: If I am wrong, then you can say "I told you so" on our way up to meet the Lord in the air:-) But if I am correct, then you will see some man rise to power and confirm a seven year covenant with Israel (remembering that every agreement with Israel is not front page news.) You will see a temple built and sacrifices begun, and then Elijah as well as another prophet/witness will appear, there will troop movements toward Jerusalem, then the "antichrist" will seat himself in the temple, and... well, you know the rest. I would encourage you to ask the Lord about this, and then get out your Bible and search diligently to see if these things are so (especially you men who have been entrusted with the safety of your families and congregations.) I shudder to think what will happen to the average Christian who has been led to expect a PreTrib rapture, when the antichrist is revealed. Will they flee from those pastors who were mistaken, straight into the eager arms of the false teachers and false prophets so often warned about? I don't know. My only obligation is to warn you. Now I will consider the warning sounded. . Maybe that's why Jesus said, (Will I find faith when I come?) CDBJ Subject: will the world end soon Note: CDBJ The battle of pre trib and mid trib has raged for years, I have an opinion as does everyone. However you said one thing that to me is prophetic, ‘if anything occurs contradictory to what their Pastor has said many Christians will run in all direction even into the arms of false teachers and prophets.’ Maybe it is time for Christians to step up and become responsible for what they believe because they have studied and prayed and this is what the Holy Spirit has shown them Subject: will the world end soon Note: Edb, a lot of believers are pre-trib, as I was, but we must remember that God's word is infallible, there are no contradictions in it! That being the case, why does Jesus say that the tribulation will be shortened for the elect's sake? The church has always consisted of believers only, and believers will not suffer the wrath of God. So then as a result, the tribulation period of Matt. 24: in not the wrath of God. Someone said, yea but the church is raptured before the tribulation and these are the tribulation saints. Even if that were true, which it is not, they are still saints of God, and His children and won't suffer His wrath: If they could then we have a contradiction of one of God's promises! Think back to what was ask of the Disciples when they knew that He was going away. They wanted to know when He would be coming back and what would be the signs precedes His coming, so they would know what to look for. The first thing that Jesus said in answer to their question was, take heed that no man deceive you. Now if the rapture takes place before all the tribulation takes place, why does he bother to give the warning? Subject: will the world end soon Note: Put your soap box away and read what I said. I really don't care which position you support. Pre trib and mid trib have been discussed at great length here. All I said was, what you said about "Christians" flocking to false teachers when something rattles their world is true and should be alarming to the church in general. If you reread this and your face isn’t red, stop think and read it again. I never once said anything about your position on the rapture. Ed |
